Chapter 987: Think about it
"Once Hera dies, you won’t only have to face Dragon and Dimitri, but also everyone who wants every single Reaper dead."
Primo ruffled his hair as he recalled his short exchange with Deborah. After listening to her ’nonsense’ Primo walked out on her, telling her she should focus on herself before jumping into action. However, even if he called it nonsense, it replayed in his mind over and over.
"Shit," he whispered in irritation. "Her nonsense does make sense."
"Shouldn’t you be in your room?"
While Primo was having a mental crisis, he heard Moose’s voice approaching. He raised his head, casting the latter approach into the waiting area.
"I’m not paralyzed," said Primo. "I told you. Staying in the room doing nothing is making me crazy. It might speed up my recovery, but before I fully recover, I’d lose my shit."
Moose plopped his butt down on the line of chairs across from him. "Whatever, man."
"Is that how you should talk to your patient?"
"You complain if I give you advice and then you still have a say now that I’m letting you be?" Moose arched a brow, cocking his head to the side. "This is beyond my pay grade."
"You’re being paid?" Primo scrunched up his nose.
"Right now? I’m not, but this isn’t pro bono. I’ll make sure to ask for some money in return once everything is settled. You should too."
"I will. Even if I don’t want to, I’m broke."
"Don’t you have a secret stash or vault?" Moose furrowed his brows. "That’s strange, considering you used to be the boss of your own group."
"I do."
"Where is it?"
Primo squinted his eyes suspiciously, catching the brief glint that shone underneath Moose’s eyes. "It was confiscated. Why are you asking for such a detail? Sounds like a scam."
"I don’t scam people."
"If you don’t call it a scam, what do you call it? Offering gambling addicts loans with interest so high they could see the angels? Then take everything from them?"
"It’s not illegal?"
"Tsk tsk tsk." Primo clicked his tongue while shaking his head continuously. However, he didn’t stay on the topic as they might get swayed completely. "Anyway, why are you just arriving now?"
"Why? Missed me?" Moose squinted his eyes as he slowly placed his hand across his chest. "Wait. Don’t tell me you were worried about me?"
Primo deadpanned. "Just tell me you don’t want to tell me what you were up to instead of coming up with pure bullshit."
"Hehe." Moose laughed. "I waited for Ram."
"What?"
"Uh-huh." Moose nodded leisurely. "I knew he would come back, so I waited for him to chat with him."
Primo went quiet while the lines between his brows deepened. He looked at Moose with anticipation, waiting for the latter to explain things to him. After all, right now, they were the only ones who knew about everything, such as Wolf’s arrest and Dominic’s plan to push through his inauguration.
Moose sighed as he observed the look Primo was giving him. "Even though Ram helped us the last time, that doesn’t mean he will continue working with us. After all, he’s still Dragon’s ally."
"You’re saying he would betray you, his former colleagues?" Primo frowned. "For what? Weren’t you a solid group?"
"We used to be, but not without Hera Cruel."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Literally." Moose shrugged nonchalantly. "As you can see, we don’t get along so much. We always fight and bicker, but would watch each other’s back. However, now that Hera is in Dragon’s custody, those like Ram will surely do everything they can to keep her safe. Even if it means killing the rest of us, he wouldn’t mind."
"It’s called loyalty to one’s true master," he stressed in the same tone. "Ram works for Hera, not for the entire Reapers. He’s the type who would destroy the entire organization if it’s for her. Call it crazy, but many of us are like that."
In simple terms, the Reapers weren’t an organization. The Reaper was Hera Cruel herself. A little complicated, but that was the true nature of the said organization.
"So?" Primo breathed out, getting the gist of what Moose was saying. "Did you talk to him?"
"Yep."
"Should I ask what you guys talked about?"
"Why? Are you my wife, who needs to know everything about me?"
Primo’s already dead expression died once more. "Then, don’t."
"Tsk tsk. We might get married if you’re acting like a wife who will throw a tantrum with my responses."
"If that is how you respond to your wife, then just don’t get married."
"Not that anyone wants me."
"At least you know that."
Moose frowned. "Goodness." He hummed as he glanced up, recalling his conversation with Ram. "I know I asked this already, but how did Heaven end up in this situation?"
"I already explained it to you. She had an altercation with Dragon and, before anyone knew it, she was flying out of the car."
"And then?"
"Dragon followed." Primo cocked his head to the side. "Weren’t you listening when I told you guys about it?"
"What about Hera Cruel?"
"She jumped out first. If I remember correctly, she was still conscious when we dragged Heaven away."
"Conscious? She’s fine?"
"Barely? But compared to Heaven’s injuries, I’m pretty sure she was fine."
"I see." Moose rocked his head in understanding. "Knowing her, she probably secured Hera’s safety first."
Primo frowned, as he already knew that. It was obvious. Heaven was like that. Even though he had just joined their group not long ago, he already grasped Heaven’s personality. She was a true leader, putting her people’s safety first before hers.
"We should get her," he broached, watching Moose slowly shift his eyes back to him. "Hera Cruel. We have to rescue her, no matter what. I’m saying this not because I feel sorry for her or because I felt ashamed for failing my first mission given by her."
"Aside from the fact that Heaven risked her life and ended up in the intensive care unit, letting her in Dragon’s care puts us all at a disadvantage," he reasoned out more calmly. "Right now, fighting Ram isn’t an option. I don’t know him well, but you do. We should work with him and forget about other things."
"Hera should be our priority, Moose. Think about it."
