Chapter 985: She knows

Meanwhile...

"Transferring to another place out of the blue..." Tiger rubbed his chin, narrowing his eyes at the person in the same room as him and Ivy. "Oy, Fig. You know what’s going outside, do you? Are we keeping secrets now?"

Fig, who was reading a book in the corner of the room in his own bed, slowly lifted his eyes to Tiger. As expected, Tiger’s bed was right next to Ivy’s, while he was across from him.

"I’m not sure." Fig shrugged. "I’m too focused on recovering."

Tiger kept his eyes squinted, doubtful at Fig’s answer.

A few hours ago, Moose suddenly came into their room and told them they would be transferred to a different facility. Right after that, some nurses entered their ward and wheeled them to the rooftop, transferring both Ivy and Tiger to this facility. When they arrived, Fig was already there.

"How about her?" Tiger continued, casting Fig a knowing look. "Was she also moved here?"

"I’m not sure, but that’s obvious. If all of us were transferred, it’s ridiculous if they left her behind."

"Something must have gone wrong."

"Everything already went wrong," Fig calmly spoke, glancing at Ivy, who was listening quietly to their exchange. "You and I are in this place is proof everything already went south. Not to mention Joker’s situation and Heaven’s. It won’t be surprising if things get worse and worse."

Tiger kept quiet at Fig’s argument. It wasn’t like he didn’t know that. Even so, compared to this hospital, the other one they came from was far more advanced. Or so what he believed.

"This facility is under my protection." As if reading Tiger’s mind, Fig explained. "I funded it after Hera’s death for no solid explanation. It’s not as advanced and generously funded as the facility she funded, but it’s a safe place for all of us. After all, no one knows about my connection with this place."

"Not to mention, going there was too obvious to our enemies," he added. "Dragon knew about that place, and for sure, his former partner as well. Not to mention, Ram was with you when we rushed her to that place. Considering he left, staying meant asking for danger."

Tiger knew that. He wasn’t dumb enough to need some explanation as to why they were transferred. However, he couldn’t shrug off the feeling that there was something they were not telling him.

"Once Miss Wei feels better, she will be transferred to the safe house." Fig slid his eyes in Ivy’s direction. "She has a life outside and from what I heard, people are growing worried about her."

Ivy pressed her lips into a thin line. "Who would worry about me? My family doesn’t care about me and they were used to me going missing in action for days."

"Your parents might not care about you, but you have people," Fig explained. "You might not have noticed it, but you’re surrounded by people who care for you. Some are simply grateful to you. So the fact that you disappeared without a word is worrying them."

"How did you know that?"

"I didn’t." Fig slowly gazed down at the book on his lap. "Dominic did. Bear told me Dominic sent someone to your office. Although he reassured them you were fine and went on a getaway with his wife, you will have to return as soon as possible."

Ivy opened her mouth but ended up shutting them. She glanced at Tiger and sighed, setting her eyes back to Fig. She knew Fig because he was the one who looked after her after that traumatic anniversary night of the Lyon Group. She remembered him because of his monstrous appetite, eating every food sent to Ivy’s ward so they wouldn’t go to waste.

Seeing Fig holding a book and talking so solemnly without eating was a little weird. But who has the appetite to eat in this situation? Tiger, on the other hand, could only stare at his beloved girlfriend and sighed heavily.

"He’s right," he said, rocking his head in understanding. "You should go home. You weren’t that hurt, and staying here because of me will cost you the business you worked so hard for."

"Can I argue?" she returned with a bitter smile. "Should I?"

Tiger shook his head mildly, guessing the argument she would use this time. No matter what, he couldn’t let her leave her life behind for him. Ivy’s achievements were something she put her heart, mind, and soul into. Her company was the fruit of her hard work and years of sacrifices.

He couldn’t take that away from her.

"Dominic got you for sure," Tiger reassured. "I’m sure he had plans to let you live without the horror of someone trying to hurt you again. He’ll protect you in the shadows, and also Moose’s people. They would keep looking after you as part of my deal with him."

"As if I’m worried about that." Her subtle smile disappeared, drawing a deep breath as she rested her back against the headboard. "I know Dominic will do his best to protect me, especially now that he won the election. Even if he won’t use his position, Axel will do his best to protect me. It’s just that... I worry about you guys."

She slowly looked up at Fig and then at Tiger. "Because no one else protects you."

"How did you know Dominic won the election?" Tiger asked, brows furrowed. Fig also had the same question in his head.

Ivy pressed her lips into a thin line as she darted her eyes between the two. Seeing that curious look on their faces, she could only sigh heavily.

"I wanted to go for a walk before we were transferred this afternoon," she explained quietly. "I didn’t mean to, but I overheard Moose and that other guy’s conversation."

"The other guy?" Tiger arched a brow. "Who?"

"The one with prosthetics and a burned scar on the side of his neck to his jaw."

"I see." Tiger rocked his head in understanding. "Anything else?"

Ivy didn’t answer immediately as she snuck Fig a look. "Nothing," she said, setting her eyes back to Tiger. "That’s all I heard."

However, Fig already knew that was not all she heard. ’She knew about Wolf’s...’ he thought, eyes on Ivy. ’Yet, she didn’t tell him.’

Staring at the two lovers, Fig couldn’t help but think how Ivy truly loved and cared for Tiger and how clever she was. Telling Tiger of what happened to Wolf would surely not favor anyone, especially in Tiger’s state.

’As much as possible, we want him to fully recover.’ Fig mentally nodded in approval. ’I’m glad she knows that.’
