Chapter 963: Something bad happened
"What... the fuck did you say, Attorney? What did you say happened to her?"
Primo clenched his teeth, blood was all over his clothes. He gripped the steering wheel tightly, looking back at the back seat, only to see the bloody Fig and Heaven.
"Ah, shit!" a thin layer of angry tears coated his eyes as he set them on the windshield. "Shit! Shit! Shit!"
"Hey!" Moose, who was on the other end of the line, yelled. "What!? Tell me!"
"I don’t know, man!" Primo exclaimed as his entire body shook. "I don’t know!"
"Hey! Get a fucking grip!"
"I’m driving!" Primo swallowed a mouthful, his lower lips quivering as he glanced at the rearview mirror. "I don’t know what happened. All I know is that Heaven is unconscious — she’s in a terrible state. Fig was shot at least three times! I’m taking them to the rendezvous point."
He paused as his heart thudded, glancing at the rearview mirror to check the two injured people in the backseat. "Shit... she’s bleeding too much. Shit, shit, shit! She might die!"
"Fuck..." Moose breathed out, still clueless at what happened on their side. However, the big or small details didn’t matter at the moment.
"I’ll meet you halfway," said Moose. "And I’ll send someone for backup."
"Please." Primo pressed his lips into a thin line, holding his breath until his neck turned taut. "They really need help."
Silence immediately followed the line as neither Moose nor Primo spoke once again. Both men focused on their current situation. The only good thing was that they shrugged off their enemies off their hair.
"Damn it," Primo whispered once again, taking a deep breath as he tried to calm himself down.
Things happened so fast that none of them could catch the situation on time. Moments ago, their only problem was Heaven losing her brakes. She planned to jump out of the vehicle. They knew that would be hard enough and that she would inflict injuries.
However, just as she crashed through the railings and onto the field, the sedan started going left and right. When they checked, Heaven and Dragon had another round of confrontation. They were already speeding, thus, fighting someone inside a speeding car made the situation ten times more dire.
Before Fig and Primo knew it, Hera already jumped out of the backseat. After a few moments, Heaven and Dragon jumped out of the car. They jumped before the sedan could crash into some machine that was mowing the highway field.
Since Primo and Fig were engaging with the enemies, they didn’t have time to wonder about her injuries. All they knew was that they had to get her. Thus, that was what they did. Driving to where they were, Primo and Fig immediately stopped near Heaven’s body.
One look and they could tell her fall was bad.
Fig and Primo jumped out of the car with Fig carrying Heaven back to their car. But just as they did so, their enemies caught up. Again, they engaged in a gunfight. Fig was too big and with Heaven in his arms, he protected her with his body. In the end, Fig was shot three times. Yet, he managed to take Heaven in the backseat. Primo, on the other hand, covered for them until the two of them were in the backseat.
That was how he ended up behind the wheel.
"Shit..." another quiet curse escaped Primo, grinding his teeth as he looked back to where Hera and Dragon were. "Fuck."
Because of what happened, they could only retrieve Heaven’s body, leaving Dragon and Hera’s body behind. Now, those who were initially fighting them were taking Hera and Dragon in their car, driving off in a different direction.
"Tch." Primo clicked his tongue in irritation. "That damn bastard."
Setting his eyes on the windshield, Primo stomped on the pedal and drove at full speed to create more distance. Who knows? Those guys might follow them again. If they did, then Heaven and Fig might suffer more. Worse, they could die on the road.
"It’s that Joker’s fault," he breathed out a jagged breath, eyes burning in anger as he blamed Joker for this result. If not for Joker not giving back full manual control of the car, then Heaven wouldn’t have to jump out of the vehicle.
If Joker did his part well, then they wouldn’t have to call it a mission fail.
"Fuck!" Primo punched the steering wheel as he harrumphed. "If these guys dies... I’ll beat him to a pulp."

Meanwhile...
Tiger, Dominic, and Ivy drove to their rendezvous point with ease. Their pursuers stopped chasing after them. Or rather, they all got tangled up in the city, that chasing after them was impossible anymore. Not to mention, Moose’s last stunt completely put a halt to the chase.
"Are you there?" On their way to their destination, Dominic pressed on his earpiece. "Hello?"
Tiger glanced at the front passenger seat. "Can’t reach her?"
"She told me earlier that she would be busy," Dominic replied, looking back at the driver’s seat. "But even until now, she hadn’t responded."
"Ah."
"Do you think everything is alright on their side?"
"Hah." Tiger smirked as he answered, "Who knows? But I know she isn’t someone who messes things up. Especially since this mission is quite personal."
Tiger arched a brow as he cast Dominic another side eye. "What’s wrong?"
"I don’t like this feeling." Dominic took a deep breath as he lowered his head. "I feel like something bad happened."
"Something bad? Like?"
"Like..." Dominic trailed off as he tried to put a name on the restlessness in his heart. "... a mission fail."
"Hah." Tiger let out a scoff. "Impossible."
"Tiger."
"I’m not saying it’s impossible for her to fail a mission. She’s not perfect. What I’m saying is that she’s someone who always acknowledges that she needs to die, but at the same time, wants to live. If things go south, she will surely save herself and take herself out of the situation," Tiger explained, keeping his eyes on the road as they neared a fort where they planned to reunite with others. "She’s like that. Always like that. It won’t do us any good for worrying about her when we barely survived ourselves."
Or rather, they should just pray she was fine like always instead of worrying.
Ivy darted her eyes between the two from the backseat, pressing her lips into a thin line. There were questions in her mind, but this wasn’t the right time to seek clarity. As she mentally nodded to herself, she heard loud and abrupt honks from behind. Furrowing her brows, she looked back, only to see the motorcycle beaming its lights at them while honking.
"Seriously. What’s wrong with him?" Tiger murmured to himself, glancing at the rearview mirror.
Dominic, on the other hand, gazed at the side mirror. Noticing that Tiger slowed down a bit while Moose picked up his speed, he wound down the window until Moose was driving right next to it.
"Go to the opposite fort from here!" Moose yelled so Dominic could hear him despite his thick helmet. "We’ll fly out of here!"
"Fly?"
"I’ll explain everything later! Ram and Bear already retreated and were on their way to the facility!" he explained through a yell. "Damn it!"
Moose didn’t stay for long as he picked up his speed again, driving past the sedan in a hurry. Meanwhile, Dominic and Tiger furrowed their brows as they gazed at the rear of the motorcycle.
"What’s going on...?" Dominic whispered, and his breath hitched as his heart suddenly skipped a beat. "Don’t tell me..."
"No," Tiger whispered, earning a look from Dominic.
The moment Dominic’s eyes landed on Tiger’s face, he knew something bad happened to his wife... and he was right.
