Chapter 958: Don’t apologize to me
"Say your prayers."
Hera loosened her grip around Dragon. This time, she threw herself in the back seat, sighing in relief. Dragon, on the other hand, could only stare at the psychotic woman outside. The corner of her lips curled up into a smirk and before he knew it, she threw a straight jab at his face.
"Agh —" Dragon cocked his head back, holding his nose as he felt a striking pain in the bridge of his nose. "You!"
Despite the pain, Dragon tried fighting back as he tried to grab Heaven’s wrist. But alas, before he could even reach her, Heaven pulled her arm back timely. Instead, she swiftly lifted her feet while holding the door handle to carry her entire weight.
"Fuck you!" he yelled when she jumped from the escort car to the sedan with her feet first.
Dragon immediately held the steering wheel, moving the car closer to the escort car to cause her damage. The car crashed against the escort car’s side, chuckling as he heard Heaven hit herself against the car.
Heaven winced as her body was now sandwiched between the sedan and the escort car. Her hand held the other car’s side, keeping the damage to a minimum.
"You fucker!" she bellowed, lifting her foot inside the escort car and kicking Dragon. Her action forced the sedan to move away from the escort car. Using this to her advantage, Heaven slipped the rest of her body inside the driver’s seat.
"What the —" Dragon, who was in the driver’s seat, almost gasped as she sat on his lap. But before he could say anything, Heaven elbowed his jaw.
"Ugh!" Dragon fell back, having more space as the seat was reclined all the way down.
Seeing the situation, Hera instinctively jumped to the front, smacking his head, and then continuously slapped him with all her might.
"Ah!!!" Hera screamed her lungs out, almost going crazy as she repeatedly assaulted Dragon while he was down. After a full twenty seconds of assault, Hera pinned him down and then looked up at the woman on his lap.
"Is that enough?" she asked with a jagged breath. "I’ll pull him. I’ll try."
Heaven was looking at her original face but didn’t entertain any strange thoughts. Her eyes fell on Dragon, who had passed out from her, and then Hera’s assaults.
"Good job," she remarked. "If you can, then do that. Though I hate the idea of sitting on his lap, that’s fine."
Hera blushed a little before shaking her head. She cleared her throat and held Dragon’s shoulder. When she pulled him back, she clenched her teeth. He was heavy. Thus, she used her foot to press on top of the seat to add more strength to her. This time, Dragon moved a little.
’I can do it,’she thought, slipping her other foot from under the reclined seat. Doing the same method, Hera pulled Dragon’s body with all her might. It took her some and a very long time to pull Dragon back to the backseat, despite Heaven’s reckless driving.
After what seemed to be an eternity, Hera was already panting for air. She threw herself on the other side of the back seat, turning her head in Dragon’s direction. She heaved a sigh of relief, snapping her eyes to the driver’s seat as Heaven pulled up the seat.
"Buckle up," said Heaven to her without looking back. "We’ll have to shrug off those guys."
"Huh?" Hera’s mind was blank for a moment, but even before she could process everything, her body already reached for the seatbelt. "Is everything okay?"
"What a strange thing to ask when you know you’re in such a situation."
Hera gulped as she dragged herself to sit up, fixing her seatbelt around her. "I mean, you were in control of this car earlier. I didn’t know you lost control over it until I heard Dragon mutter a few things."
"He’s smart." Heaven glanced at the rearview mirror to check on Hera. "Don’t you know that? He’s someone who always catches on too quickly."
"Right." Hera lowered her eyes and breathed out. "How can I forget why you named him that?".
Heaven kept her gaze on Hera’s reflection before shifting her eyes ahead. "So, I assume you remember everything?" she asked, glancing at the side mirror to see if Fig and Primo were fine.
"Yes." Hera nodded. "I remember everything about you."
"Good, they’re fine," Heaven muttered, seeing that Fig was behind her before she refocused her attention on the road. "We’re approaching the city, so expect a rougher ride."
Hera pressed her lips into a thin line as she kept her gaze on Heaven’s side profile. "I’m sorry."
"Sorry? For, what?"
"For... everything."
"Hah." Heaven rocked her head, smacking her lips, and then running her tongue across her inner cheek. "Why do I feel that apology is more like a disappointment than touching?"
"I couldn’t utilize everything I learned from you and —"
"That’s not something you should apologize for," Heaven spoke, stopping her mid-sentence. "Even if you gained my memories since childhood and the skills I honed throughout the years, you shouldn’t apologize for not utilizing those."
"You know my life and the dangers in it every second of every day," she continued. "If you claim to have gained my memories, then I presume you also know the horrors that come along with my existence. In the underground, you learn things every day. Even so, don’t apologize to me for not being able to fend off for yourself."
Heaven paused for a moment as she pondered. "I am me and you are you. Even if you are now in my body, you’ll never be Hera Cruel, Heaven. The same as I would never be Heaven Liu, no matter how much I try to be dumb and foolish. Though there are people you should apologize to, but that’s not me."
A moment of silence befell the car as Hera didn’t say anything. Meanwhile, Heaven kept her focus on the road after buckling her seat. What they didn’t know was that as they were talking, Dragon regained consciousness and heard this brief exchange.
Keeping his eyes closed, shallow lines appeared between his brows. ’What the hell are they saying? That the Hera I’ve been was someone else all along? And Heaven Liu is actually... Hera?’
