Chapter 952: Bad news

Dying twice in the same way brought mixed feelings to Hera. Even so, she wasn’t as hopeful anymore. If anything, before she lost consciousness, she couldn’t help but look back at her life.

Surely, her life was beautiful, and she wasted every crumb of it.

If Dragon’s words were meant for the real soul, then she would agree with him. She was ungrateful. Compared to the real Hera, the soul in this body had taken her original life for granted. She truly had such a peaceful life back then and many good people around her.

Despite everything, Dominic, especially, was kind to her. He had given her space and took care of their child. Even her son with him was a good kid. She just felt bad for treating Sebastian the way she did. She should’ve been good to him.

But there was no point anymore.

There was no point in accepting that Dominic didn’t do her wrong. It was pointless to accept that Dominic was not at fault for what happened to them. That he didn’t deserve the hate she had given him to protect herself from the reality she was the one who did all of that.

She had a good life, and she didn’t cherish it.

As Hera slowly released the last bits of consciousness within her grasp, a sudden impact threw Dragon and her off their position. Hera hit the side of her temple against the door while Dragon fell over from his spot.

"Hah!!" Hera gasped for air and rolled over to her side. She coughed, touching her neck, as she could still feel the remnants of his hold. She breathed in and out from both her mouth and nose, coughing as her head throbbed from the lack of oxygen moments ago.

"Hah..." As Hera coughed and took in as much air as possible, Dragon grunted.

He fell into the space between the front passenger seat and the driver’s seat. When another impact came to them, he held onto anything he could and turned his head. Looking at the other end of the backseat window, he caught another car driving beside them. The moment he saw the person driving, his eyes dilated as if he had regained consciousness.

"Cough!"

He glanced at Hera, only to realize he had strangled her almost to death. Dragon clenched his teeth, watching her cough while gasped for air.

"Tch! Strangling you to death is too easy for you!" he clicked his tongue and slowly dragged himself away from her. When he sat back in the driver’s seat, Dragon glanced at the car that was driving beside theirs. "These pigs really are a pain in the neck."

First, Joker wouldn’t allow him to take control of this car. And now, Fig interrupted him from strangling Hera to death.

’I need to do something,’ he told himself, trying his best to calm down to think of ways to get himself out of this pit of hell. His eyes scanned the driver’s seat, pressing anything in sight to find a way to somehow control this car. He opened the compartments in the passenger seat, only to get thrown back to the driver’s seat when the other car turned and bumped their side against theirs.

"Fuck!" Dragon grunted as he grabbed the steering wheel, glaring daggers at the car on their side. "This pig... I’m going to kill him too."

Meanwhile, when Hera recovered, she pulled herself up. She gulped, still feeling the force around her neck. Snapping her eyes up, she glanced at the car that saved her from her impending doom.

’That’s him,’ she thought, almost sighing in relief. She then glanced at Dragon, who was rummaging the front seat as if he was looking for something. ’What is he doing?’

Hera pressed her lips into a thin line, stuck in her place, and clueless on what to do. Her eyes then caught the button to pull down the window.

’Can I?’she wondered to herself, dragging herself to the other corner. If she could open the window, then she could probably get out. Or maybe she could jump to the other car, since they were practically driving side by side.

As Hera sneakily crawled her way to the other side of the back seat, she kept her eyes ahead. She almost forgot about Heaven until she caught a body flying back to them.

CLANG!

THUD!

Dragon flinched at the violent clang and thud that hit their windshield. He turned his head on instinct, only to see another body hitting their windshield and briefly getting stuck in the wipers. When Hera opened her eyes, all she saw was someone lying on the wiper and smeared blood on the windshield.

’Where did these people...’ her thoughts trailed off as the body slowly fell over the front, and then their vehicle bounced a little as if they had just driven past a road bump. ’Don’t tell me, they’re from the escort car? I didn’t know bodies could fly like that when thrown off the road at such speed.’

From her perspective, it looked more like a piece of paper thrown on the highway and getting stuck in a moving car. But there was no mistaking it. There was a cut across the man’s face, almost splitting his face in half. That was surely Heaven’s doing.

"That witch..." Dragon hissed and this time, he acted even more aggressively, as if he was in a frenzy. Hera, on the other hand, got rid of her plans after seeing those bodies fly back after they were pushed off a fast-moving vehicle.

Even so, Hera knew she still had to do something.

Meanwhile, in the escort car, Heaven repositioned herself in the driver’s seat. Both the seats were reclined all the way down and the rear windshield was fully shattered. She disposed of the body through it, thinking there was nothing to protect Hera if she was alone with Dragon.

"Wow," whispered Heaven as she took control of the escort car. She scrunched up her nose and shook her head, shivering at the sudden thought that interrupted her train of vile thoughts. "I never felt so annoyed seeing my own face. No wonder Fig had no words to say when I asked about Heaven. It was... weird."

"I know, right?" Joker’s voice came through her earpiece, nodding in agreement even though Heaven couldn’t see him. "It was weird — very weird. I’m having goosebumps. No offense, but I never thought you’d make such an expression. Hehe. You’re so pathetic but cute."

"Shut up." She rolled her eyes, setting her attention on the SUV ahead. "Anyway, I’m onto the next car. But I’m having second thoughts."

"Second thoughts? Why? Are you tired? Or were you disheartened when you saw your face?"

"I just think it’s a waste of time." Heaven shrugged and glanced at the rearview mirror. "I’ll deal with Dragon now. You deal with those two."

"I’m controlling a car, giving your husband and Tiger’s support, and now you’re asking me to do another task? This is a month’s workload on a single day! But I don’t get paid enough! This is slavery."

"If you know that, stop complaining and get the job... done," Heaven trailed off as she glanced at the other side mirror, only to catch several more cars suddenly coming out of nowhere.

"Uh..." Joker let out a long sound as he ran his fingers across the keyboard. "Bad news, Boss. It seemed Dragon’s alliance got wind of the situation."

"Which one?"

"All of them."
