Chapter 943: Ttyl, ily. <3
"You... who are you?"
Hera’s breath hitched while Heaven glanced at the rearview mirror. Neither of them expected that question from Dragon. Even Dragon himself was surprised at the words that came out of his mouth.
"What?" Hera scoffed, heart thudding against her chest. "Did you just ask who I was?"
Why did he ask such a question?
There was no mistaking that the woman beside him was the one and only Hera Cruel. She wasn’t June, who went under the knife to look like Hera. No matter how different she was, it was ridiculous to question her identity.
"Frank, how dare you?" A mocking laughter escaped her, keeping her slightly dilated gaze at him. "After keeping me locked up and overdosing me with all the drugs you can get your hands on, you’re asking me who I was? Hah! You must have gone crazy."
Dragon let out a sharp breath, laughing at himself while rocking his head. He then snapped his eyes at the front passenger seat, catching Heaven looking at them through the rearview mirror.
"Let us out," he demanded. "I’m giving you one last chance, Heaven Liu. This is not a matter you should meddle with. It’s none of your business, so let it go."
A glint flickered across Heaven’s eyes, feeling a cold metal press against the back of her ear. Unfazed by his threat, her fingers lightly tapped the steering wheel.
"Seeing you here, I’m certain you already got Leo to safety," he continued, guessing the situation of her mission. "About Tiger, I’m not sorry for the bounty on his head. Even if I don’t do it, someone else will. Dimitri wants him dead, after all. It’s his fault that he even dated someone knowing his situation. He’s the one to blame for that."
"So... we are done," he added under his breath. "You got what you want. Let’s call it quits and avoid each other’s way."
"I want Hera Cruel."
Dragon almost choked with his own breath the very second he heard Heaven’s reply.
"Give her to me without a problem, and I’ll drop you off."
Hera, who was in the backseat, perked up. Her eyes shook, staring at the driver’s seat where Hera was casually negotiating while driving at full speed.
’Is she really going to let him go if he agrees?’ Hera wondered. ’Isn’t that risky? Or was she thinking of me?’
Hera’s thoughts halted when she caught a car from the corner of her eyes. Turning her head, she caught multiple cars coming from every direction and driving at full speed to catch up to them.
’Are those Hera’s people?’ she wondered, and she immediately got the answer as soon as she caught the smirk on Dragon. ’No, they weren’t.’
Heaven, on the other hand, simply glanced at the side mirror and saw the cars that suddenly appeared behind them. However, she remained calm, as if she expected a chase when she picked these two up.
"Heaven Liu," Dragon called once more, but this time, his voice exuded confidence. "I’m giving you leniency. Stop this car and drop us off. I’ll let you off if you promise not to meddle with my business."
"No." Heaven blinked ever so slowly. "If you want to go, then jump from here. Leave Hera Cruel."
"What do you want from her?" He hissed, only to realize that Heaven was working with the former members of the reapers. For sure, this was part of their plan. "No," he shook his head. "My offer stands as it is. Take it or leave it."
"Dragon, do you think everyone who is following us wants you alive?" Heaven inquired, seemingly changing their topic to something else. "While you are busy doing an impossible negotiation, thinking you got back up, I am here wondering who are those guys?"
"Huh?"
Heaven glanced at the rearview mirror, holding Dragon’s reflection on it. "Admit it or not, you’re alive, thanks to me." She shifted her gaze to the road. "If you don’t believe me, then look."
Dragon had no reason to listen to her. However, before he could realize it, he looked back. There were multiple cars following them, only for another car to appear out of nowhere, crashing into the first car and shoving it off the road. The cars behind them either drifted and avoided being caught in the crash, and some were driven off the road as well.
He knew some of them. He owned them, after all.
But the other vehicles? Dragon knew they weren’t under his name. They weren’t his.
When another car appeared, driving at full speed and hot on their tail, he caught the person driving it. His expression instantly turned dark, recognizing the man as one of Dimitri’s trusted hitmen. The other man in the front passenger was Romnick.
"That bastard is still alive, huh?" he hissed at the realization, but before he could say anything further, a sudden explosion erupted from the side of the road. Dragon instantly moved his gaze to it, only to see one of his cars exploding after a car crashed into it and pushed it off the road.
"Do you now understand?" After a moment of silence, Heaven spoke once again. "If I wasn’t the one who picked you up, you could’ve been in that car."
Dragon’s shoulders trembled while Hera gulped nervously. Hera darted her eyes between Dragon, who was beside her, and then at the driver’s seat. Considering what real Hera was capable of, she was certain she was telling the truth.
"Are you still going to resist?" Heaven continued quietly but clearly. "If that’s your plan, then sure. I’ll give you what you want."
Dragon’s hand trembled as he breathed heavily, eyes on the driver’s seat. After a minute, he clicked his tongue and retrieved the rifle which he had been holding at Heaven.
"I’m not agreeing with you!" he remarked. "I’ll deal with you once we deal with those guys."
"Sounds good to me." Heaven shrugged and then pressed on her earpiece. "Are you busy? If you are, then good. I’ll be occupied in a bit. Talk to you later. Love you."
Hera couldn’t help but press her lips into a thin line while Dragon glared daggers at the driver’s seat. Did they seriously hear Heaven give someone — her husband, perhaps — a life update?
’Well...’Hera bit her inner bottom lips, eyes still fixed on the driver’s seat. ’... that’s the real Hera for you.’
