Chapter 938: Tainting your hands red, or your blood in your enemy’s hand.

[Dimitri’s Mansion]

"Do you think I’d let someone like you kill me?! Hah! Dream on!"

Katherine revved up her motorbike, laughing manically as she drove straight to Dominic. Dominic remained in his spot while Tiger clicked his tongue in irritation.

"Get in!" Tiger yelled, tugging Ivy’s arm to snap her back to the current lapse. "Go!"

He almost shoved Ivy in the back seat, knowing they couldn’t waste another second. Ivy, who was surprised to see that killing intent in Dominic, simply followed her instinct. She jumped inside the back seat, looking back to see Dominic still standing behind the truck.

After a few seconds, she flinched when she heard the driver’s seat open and then slam closed. Ivy winced and instinctively covered one of her ears as the tires screech.

"Hold tight!" was the only thing Ivy heard from the driver’s seat before Tiger drove at full speed.

Tiger went straight to the mansion, only to make a drift before reaching the porch of the mansion. He heard a squeal in the back seat, checking Ivy’s situation. Ivy barely held onto the seat in front of her, but her body was squeezed into the side of the backseat.

"Are you hurt?" he asked, worried.

Ivy clenched her teeth as she peeked. "I’m fine," she forced out a breath. "Are you going to drive recklessly like this?"

"Yes!" he answered without a second hesitation. "So buckle up."

"Mhm!" Aside from the initial bruises and scratches Ivy inflicted, her muscles ached at that impact in Tiger’s driving. Even so, she didn’t find the energy to complain. They were in a situation where life and death were on the line.

So, despite her hands shaking uncontrollably, Ivy tried to control her trembling body as she buckled her seat. They might’ve saved her from Katherine, but she might die if they were going to drive recklessly like that one.

"I’m ready!" she announced after just a few seconds, keeping her attention on her seatbelt while tightening it. "Tiger, I’m —"

When Ivy gazed up, her breath hitched. Tiger wasn’t moving, staring ahead coldly. Shifting her gaze to the windshield, she saw Dominic jogging to his side while opening fire at the incoming motorbike.

"Ahh!!"

Despite their distance from Dominic and Katherine, Ivy somehow heard Katherine’s scream as she fell off the motorbike. The motorbike still moved ahead, only to fall to the side when there was nothing to control it anymore. Katherine, on the other hand, crouched with her hand on her shoulder.

"Oh, god..." Ivy covered her lips, catching Dominic approach Katherine. "He won’t kill her, would he?"

"He will."

Ivy’s dilated and shaky eyes drifted to the driver’s seat upon hearing Tiger’s cold answer.

"Ivy, do you now understand everything that I told you about?" Tiger clenched his teeth, making his jaw tighten for a moment. "This is the world I used to live in. And if you stay with me, one of these days, you might find yourself holding a gun and taking another person’s life."

His heart clenched as he kept his eyes on Dominic’s figure, watching the latter stand beside Katherine’s body. His grip on the steering was tighter, knowing how Dominic went down this path. Dane might be one of the reasons, but killing somebody when they had options to leave was a whole new, different reason.

To be with Hera, Dominic had to be someone she could rely on.

’This is what she was worried about, huh?’ Tiger mentally laughed bitterly. ’That’s what she meant when she told me to save myself the trouble of experiencing the pain of watching your loved one go down the wrong path for her.’

"If you didn’t come..." Ivy drew a deep breath, clasping her lap as she gulped the lump in her throat. "... I would’ve killed her myself."

Her lips stretched forcibly, staring at the rear mirror until Tiger glanced at her reflection in it. "She might’ve hurt me, but at the back of my head, I was ready to kill her."

"You’re missing my point."

"I’m not." She shook her head. "I know why you’re saying those things, but what do you want me to do? I’m already too deep in this, Tiger. Are you seriously telling me now that you’re regretting... us?"

"No, that’s not it."

"Then, end of discussion." Ivy huffed as she set her eyes on Dominic, watching his lips move as if he was saying something to Katherine. "I’m sorry, but if you’re not going to say something nice, shut up. Don’t give me the bullshit of regretting or anything of the sort. I’m not saying I’m completely okay with this, nor I am saying I’m not scared. But right now, I feel like I could do anything to keep myself and those important to me safe. Even if that means putting blood in my hands."

Tiger’s lips parted as he kept his eyes on the rearview mirror, but then shut his lips once again. He understood her resolve and respected it; not that he wished for her to stop whatever their relationship right now. Yet, the unpleasant feeling bubbling in his head was undeniable.

"I’m just saying," he muttered, snapping his eyes to Dominic. "Once we get you out of here safely, things are still not over yet."

Ivy pressed her lips into a thin line but remained silent. At the back of her head, she knew getting out of there wasn’t the end of things. Deep in her heart, things wouldn’t be over until Dane was dead or them.

BANG! BANG!

She flinched when she heard two gunfire outside the vehicle. Moving her gaze, her eyes fell on Dominic, who shot Katherine twice. She bit her inner bottom lips, looking away, not having the heart to even see the person who tried to kill her dying at the hands of her good friend.

’This is the underground,’she told herself. ’And this... is normal for them. At the end of the day, if we don’t get blood in our hands, it’ll be our blood that would taint others.’

"Ah, shit..." Suddenly, Tiger let out a quiet curse and before he could say anything, he stomped on the pedal and sped straight through the driveway. He halted as soon as they reached Dominic, winding his window down, and yelled.

"Dom, get in! That useless Moose didn’t do the job well! They’re back!"

Dominic looked back at Tiger, and then instinctively shifted his eyes to the gates. Through the towering fences around the mansion, he caught a familiar SUV.
