Chapter 933: She’s in good hands
"You lucky bitch!"
Yes, Ivy couldn’t disagree. A short smirk turned up on her face for a split second, only for it to disappear when she saw where Katherine was driving. Her eyes went wide as she saw the motorbike driving in her direction. Without thinking, Ivy rolled to the side to avoid getting hit. She rolled until she was on one knee.
However, Ivy’s struggle wasn’t over yet.
When she raised her head, she realized she had jumped into the driveway and was now on the way to where the black sedan was speeding. She might’ve successfully dodged Katherine, but not this car.
"Oh, god," she whispered, wide-eyed. "Dom!"
With the speed of the vehicle and the shock that struck her, Ivy’s entire body froze. She felt paralyzed, unable to move to save herself. All she could do as the beams flashed on her was shut her eyes, embracing herself from the pain of the crash.
Dominic, who was driving the car, gripped the steering wheel tightly as he made a turn, avoiding hitting the person they were supposed to save. Despite the yell and panic from his passenger, Dominic focused on maneuvering the vehicle, missing Ivy by an inch.
The tires screeched aloud, almost painful in everyone’s ears.
Ivy, who had her eyes closed, only felt a harsh breeze before the loud screech. The smell of burnt rubber wafted through her nostrils, prompting her to open her eyes when the pain she was expecting didn’t come. The moment she looked ahead, her lips parted as a sharp breath escaped her.
The sedan was gone. It was no longer driving right in front of her.
"Oh, god," she breathed out, feeling her bones turn as soft as tofu. Ivy collapsed, her hands on the concrete ground, head hung low. "Goodness. Maybe I was lucky."
Just as Ivy tried to recollect her thoughts and process what happened in such a short frame of time, she heard some voices behind her.
"Are you crazy?!" Coming out of the front passenger seat, Tiger harrumphed, looking at the driver’s seat where Dominic was stepping out. "We’re here to save her, not kill her ourselves! Tell me. You have a hidden grudge against my fiancee, don’t you?"
Dominic, who barely reacted to anything, cast Tiger an apathetic look. "I don’t remember you getting engaged."
"Shut up!"
"Don’t blame me. Blame Ivy for suddenly jumping on the way."
"Oy!" Tiger’s face turned red in disbelief at this crazy guy standing by the driver’s seat. He pointed at Dominic over the hood of the sedan, shaking his head in disbelief. "Do you know that’s the most damn thing to say right now? To blame the victim?"
"She’s not dead."
"She almost died!"
"Almost... but she didn’t." Dominic blinked. "Also, you would do the same if you’re behind the wheel and the person in front is my wife."
"Your wife won’t mind!"
"But I would!"
Tiger gasped, hands on his chest, rendered speechless with his partner today. Just when he thought he would have a peaceful partner this time, he was proven wrong. Dominic was just as annoying as everyone else!
"Anyway." Dominic turned his head to Ivy. "Isn’t this time for you to run into each other’s embraces?"
"Right!" Tiger snapped back to reality and turned his head, only to see Ivy still on her knees, looking at them with blank eyes. "Ivy!"
He hopped from his spot, ran to Ivy, and slid down to his knees. Before he could say anything, he extended his arm and pulled her into his embrace.
"Oh, god!" he breathed out, his heart still racing. "You’re okay. Thank God."
Ivy, who was now in his embrace, gazed behind him where Dominic stood. Her expression was blank, and so was her mind.
"Ivy." Tiger slowly released her from his arms, his hands on her shoulders, scanning her up and down. "Are you hurt anywhere? Ivy, I’m here now. It’s okay!"
Ivy slowly shifted her blank eyes to him and then furrowed her brows. "What are you doing here?"
"Huh?" He furrowed his brows, confused. "I’m here for you. I told you, didn’t I? That if something like this happens, I’ll go to you no matter what."
"Mhm." Only a short sound slipped past her lips, eyes assessing the relief in his eyes. "You did say that, but why are you here now?"
"What are you saying?"
Ivy clasped his chest and shook him. "You don’t know? This man named Dragon also held your sister captive! Dimitri told me about it, so why are you here? Shouldn’t you rescue her first?"
"Oh."
"She is in danger, Tiger!" She shook him one more time. "Your sister is in danger!"
Tiger blinked as his lips parted, making Ivy furrow her brows at his lack of reaction. He scratched his jaw with his index.
"Ah... that sister, huh?" Tiger muttered awkwardly.
"What do you mean, that sister? You have two?"
"No." Tiger shook his head. "I mean, don’t worry about her. She’s fine."
"Huh?"
"My sister is fine." After all, she wasn’t really held captive. Or rather, the one in Dragon’s custody wasn’t his beloved sister. "So, don’t worry about her."
His expression turned serious, looking at her solemnly. "What’s important now is you." His eyes fell on the blood on her elbow, sighing heavily.
"I’m sorry it took me some time to get here." He lifted his eyes to meet her, cupping her face gently. "Did it scare you?"
Ivy pressed her lips into a thin line as tears coated her eyes, nodding at him. "Mhm. It was very scary." She punched his chest weakly. "I thought I was going to die!"
Tiger smiled subtly as he pulled her into his embrace, stroking her back as she bawled her eyes, letting out all the emotions she repressed all this time. Ivy allowed herself to take down the fierce mask she had worn, breaking down in the safety of his embrace.
"It’s okay now," he whispered while rubbing her back. "I’m sorry... for being late."
As Ivy cried like a child and Tiger coaxed her, Dominic remained standing near the car. He smiled subtly, watching the two reunite while knowing what Tiger was like before this.
’Now, I know she’s in good hands.’
