Chapter 926: Motorcycle rider
Meanwhile, as soon as Ivy reached her room, she slammed the door closed. She rested her back against it, locking it from behind. She bit her bottom lips, recalling the virulent remarks Dane spewed so carelessly that swayed her heart.
"Did he think I don’t know the answer?" she murmured as a thin layer of tears coated her eyes. "That guy... loved his sister to death."
One thing Tiger was always honest and straightforward about was his love for his sister. For someone like him, one would expect that he would be too prideful to express his care for someone. But Tiger was different. His sister was his world.
He said those words without care of what he would appear to those who were listening.
It was the reason Ivy initially had a bad impression of Tiger’s sister, but he had defended her. Thus, her bad impression of her slowly turned into curiosity. What kind of girl was Tiger’s sister? Was she sickly and needed a lot of care? But according to Tiger, she was the opposite.
Though Tiger didn’t detail why he cared for her so much, he reassured her that she wasn’t as dislikable as one would think.
"If she wasn’t sickly, and he cared for her that much, what more if she was taken as hostage?" she whispered, biting her inner bottom lips. "Of course, he would come rushing to her without regard for everything else."
Bitterness swelled in her chest as she was expecting Tiger to come and save her. However, from the looks of it, she wasn’t Tiger’s priority at the moment.
"I don’t want to feel this way," she murmured, dragging her feet to the bed and collapsing on it. "Don’t be bitter, Ivy. It’s not like he won’t come and help you out of here. He’ll just rescue her first and then me."
Her lips curled up bitterly, telling herself Tiger didn’t deserve her disappointment at the moment. She kept telling herself to understand, even taking her situation lightly since she wasn’t being physically hurt in this place. On the other hand, his sister might be suffering at the hands of her captor. Hence, feeling bitter and disappointed was selfish.
But alas...
Ivy was only human. She couldn’t stop herself from feeling this bitterness, no matter how much she tried rationalizing things. And before she knew it, her disappointment in herself overwhelmed any other emotions clashing in her heart.
"I don’t know what to say anymore." A shallow laugh escaped her, clasping the sheet and closing her eyes to rest. "Just a day or two. I’ll wait. Take care of your business. It’s not like I will die today."
Ivy bit her inner bottom lips until the tang of iron filled her tastebuds. She kept repeating in her mind that Tiger would come. He might be late, but he would keep his promise to her. She even went so far as to imagine his faceless sister to be in a horrible state to justify Tiger’s priority.
"Don’t get swayed. That was what Dimitri wants." She nodded to herself. "He wants you to lose confidence and put a wedge between you and Tiger. Don’t give him what he wants. It’s not like you didn’t know Tiger’s heart when you agreed to date him."
Her eyes softened as she felt slightly convinced. It wasn’t like she was lying. It was true. Ivy already knew that she would never dominate Tiger’s heart because his sister used to be his world. She never planned to, after all. What she wanted from Tiger was his honesty and genuine love. For him to do what he would do for her and that he would never change. That was good enough for her.
As Ivy was convincing herself of this situation, she heard a commotion outside. Her brows rose curiously, looking up and setting her eyes on the window.
"What’s going on?" she whispered to herself, pushing herself up from the bed and marching toward the window. "Is something happening?"
Standing in front of the window, she slid the curtain to the side to peek at the situation outside. She furrowed her brows, catching multiple cars and several other people rushing into them. Ivy stretched her neck out of curiosity, surprised when she caught the gigantic Alfred coming into her sight.
"Are they leaving?" she wondered. "He seemed on the edge."
Just then, Ivy also caught Dane’s figure following Alfred. He was holding a rifle down, jogging toward the SUV that Alfred stood by. Alfred held the driver’s seat door open, motioning his rifle around while giving out orders. Dane also stopped just as he opened the front passenger seat, talking back.
By the look of their expression, it seemed whatever they were talking about was serious. Compared to Dane’s playful and taunting smirk, he now had this dark expression.
"Did he come?" she asked herself and immediately squashed down the excitement in her heart. "Impossible. I don’t think they would have such a mood if they’re only fighting one person."
Ivy shook her head, telling herself to stop hoping for a moment. This was reality, and reality needed much more logical thinking. If she kept hoping that help would come right now, it would only disappoint her. Moreover, Tiger would save his sister first.
"Whatever the reason for their mood, something wrong is probably happening." The corner of her lips curled up, pleased at the idea that not everything was going in Dane’s plans. "I hope he finds his doom..."
Ivy trailed off as he caught a figure from the corner of her eyes. She slowly lifted her gaze while her furrowed brows deepened. Squinting her eyes, she saw this tiny little figure from outside the gigantic gates of the driveway.
"What is that he is holding..." the rest of her words rolled back into her throat as the gate suddenly exploded. Ivy covered her ears and squealed, getting down on her knees out of instinct.
Since there was a great distance between the driveway and the mansion, the explosion was loud, but not deafening enough. Ivy trembled in fear, opening her eyes slowly when she realized she was safe and sound. She then gazed up at the window, gulping nervously. She slowly got up, peeking over the window of what was happening outside.
The second Ivy saw the gates, it was gone, replaced by fire and thick smoke. She held her breath, almost in disbelief at what was happening. But before she could process the situation, she caught a motorcycle rider jumping out of the smoke at its maximum speed.
