Chapter 920: A call for retreat

[Within the Dragon’s Den]

The sound of flesh squirting resonated in one of the rooms in the mansion. Blood continuously splashed to the floor and Primo’s face.

"You shitty shit old shitty man!" Primo cursed through his gritted teeth, launching another punch to the old man’s already mangled face. "How dare you talk about my family so lightly? I’m going to kill you!"

Sitting on top of the unmoving body of the old man, Primo launched continuous punches into the old man’s face. His knuckles were already coated with thick, fresh blood as the old man’s head started to shatter. However, Primo didn’t show any sign of stopping. It was as though he wouldn’t stop even if he pulverized the elder’s skull.

"I’ll make you regret confronting me and even mentioning their names!" he roared as more and more blood splashed on his face. "You want to reminisce about your old friend, right? Then just reunite with him in hell!"

Primo went on and on, even if it was obvious the old man was already gone. As he did so, he started laughing as his punches turned even more aggressive and his smile appeared creepier, like a madman.

"Haha! Die! Die! Die! You and then Dimitri! All of you are shit and deserve to die!" As his fist landed on the crushed head, Primo suddenly stopped as he heard this explosion somewhere in the area.

"Huh?" He blinked as his eyes slowly regained life. When he gazed down, only then did he realize the old man’s head was already in pieces. But alas, he didn’t feel any remorse for the old man’s fate, as this person deserved a gruesome ending.

"Right..." A deep breath slipped past his mouth, getting off the old man’s body, and then trod towards the window. "Hera. She almost slipped my mind."

Primo looked out of the window and instantly caught the thick smoke billowing to the sky from the west garden. Deep lines appeared between his brows, curious.

"Did they get her?" he wondered. "No. I shouldn’t be wasting my time here."

With that thought in mind, Primo was about to run away from the scene and see for himself if Hera was rescued. But before he could move, he caught a chopper slowly ascending to where the smoke was coming from.

"What in the world..." he trailed off, noticing that the helicopter was positioning itself in the air as if it was about to nosedive. "Don’t tell me... no!"

Primo didn’t linger around to see what the person in the chopper was about to do. Instead, he rushed outside, picking up a rifle lying around on the floor. If he saw the person — Fig — in the chopper correctly, that meant Hera was still not in custody.

’I have to get her... no matter what!’

[West Garden]

Romnick grunted as he rolled on his stomach, pushing himself up after being thrown from the impact of the explosion. Fortunately, he was able to jump several feet away before the explosion happened. If not, he would have died instantly.

"Who..." he held his head, his ear still ringing from the explosion.

As he was in the process of analyzing the situation, Romnick heard this loud rotor sound from the sky. Looking up, his eyes dilated as he caught the chopper from the rooftop slowly ascending. When it was in the air, it turned around and positioned itself in a nosedive.

"Dimitri." Romnick pressed on his earpiece as his tone dropped. "This mission is doomed to fail. I’m retreating."

The moment he expressed his conclusion about the situation, Romnick channeled all his energy and jumped from his position. He grunted at the striking pain in his leg, realizing some small parts of the car had managed to fly their way to him. Even so, he endured the pain and gazed up at the chopper above.

"That guy..." he breathed out before making a run for it, not stupid enough to quench his curiosity and see what would happen next. "... is he working for Dragon now? I don’t think so. He almost killed the both of us."

Romnick didn’t look back as he ran for his life, heading straight to his rendezvous point. The last thing he saw was a big fat man jumping from the cockpit of the helicopter. Whatever that guy was planning, Romnick didn’t need to know exactly what it was. But from what he could tell, that helicopter would nosedive to where Romnick was. Therefore, he had to create a lot of distance before it would land. If not, then Romnick might die.

"Dimitri," he called while fleeing from the scene. "Remember that guy you warned us about the most?"

His expression turned solemn and even sharper. "He’s here. I’m not sure if he’s working alone or if his appearance is somewhat connected with Alexander Cafre. Either way, we didn’t expect that these guys would be here. We still don’t know yet if all of them are here, but if that’s the case, then I call everyone for retreat."

As soon as Romnick finished his order, he picked up his pace, putting his all into widening his distance with them. After a minute or so, he leaped and rolled to the ground at the same time another loud explosion occurred behind him.

"Ugh!" Despite the wide distance Romnick created, he still felt the wave of impact from the helicopter’s landing. But unlike earlier, he wasn’t thrown away.

He clenched his teeth, keeping himself on the ground for a moment. When he recovered, he gazed back, only to see the massive fire blazing from where he came from. The distance he created was already wide, but even so, the fire was able to reach a few meters from his current vantage point. If he was a lot slower, he would have surely died.

"Insanity," he breathed out, calming his racing heart from all the running. "Surely, Dragon didn’t deserve the title."

Romnick slowly looked up to search for the culprit in this explosion. He squinted his eyes until he caught a big figure slowly descending from the air with a parachute that could barely hold him. The sight of him was almost comedic, but Romnick couldn’t find it within him to laugh, knowing that the guy wasn’t as adorable as he looked if he was an enemy.

"A full retreat." Suddenly, a voice from Romnick’s earpiece came out a voice. "Fighting them isn’t what we planned today. Don’t head back here either. It seemed Dragon also sent a surprise for me today. Heh. We’re truly alike in some ways."
