Chapter 919: Fig’s Intervention

Chapter 919: Fig’s Intervention

"Dimitri, I’m sick and tired of people pretending they want to help me. I would rather have a threesome with Leo and that psycho in the helicopter than join a pathetic coward like you."

Silence followed Hera’s remarks, with Romnick staring at her with a plain look while Dragon’s gaze had this tinge of surprise. Meanwhile, the person listening to the conversation through the hidden earpiece inside Romnick’s clothes couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

Hera balled her hands into a tight fist, keeping her gaze on Romnick. ’At least, that guy earlier is vocal about what he wants and doesn’t go in a roundabout way.’ It was not that she would do it, but it was satisfying to piss everyone who was listening.

"I see." Romnick nodded in understanding. "If that is what you decided on —"

Romnick paused as he felt something in his chest. Raising his brows as he gazed down, he leisurely shoved his hand inside his clothes to listen to the device hidden in his chest.

"Hera." Taking this time to his advantage, Dragon lowered his head and whispered to her. "Can you walk?"

Hera furrowed her brows as she looked up at Dragon, only to see him keeping his eyes on Romnick.

"Go over there for a moment," he said. "I’ll deal with him first."

"Huh?" A gigantic question mark immediately hovered over her head. "You’re gonna let me go?"

"Let you go?" Dragon snickered, snapping his eyes down to the woman in his arms. "No. Never. Think of running away and you’ll see why I have the confidence to put you down."

Her face instantly turned sour while holding his gaze. Though she said nothing, thinking that was futile. With that being said, Dragon carefully put her down while Romnick was busy listening to his earpiece. The moment Hera’s feet landed on the ground, she planned to make a run for it. But much to her dismay, the second her feet touched the ground, her knees wobbled uncontrollably.

Hera clutched to Dragon’s arm so as not to fall.

’This jerk...’she clenched her teeth, glaring daggers at the man supporting her body. "What did you do to me this time?"

"Crawl your way behind that tree." Ignoring her question, Dragon pointed at the tree several feet behind them. "I’ll come to you later."

Hearing his remarks, she now understood why he had so much confidence in letting her go at this crucial moment. She should have known Dragon was the type to play doctor and inject suspicious medicine into people’s bodies.

"Go." Dragon released her arms, almost making her fall despite the slow release.

"Uh!" Hera tried to keep her balance but failed miserably. She fell to her knees right after taking a step, but this time, Dragon didn’t help her. Her shoulders trembled as he ground her teeth, glaring daggers at Dragon, who didn’t bother helping her.

’Whatever!’she mentally screamed, trying to push herself up with great difficulty to distance herself from these people. ’It might be slow, but I have to try.’

Hera fell once again as if she was steadily losing strength instead of regaining it. She would rise with great difficulty, only to fall right after one step. However, she didn’t stop or look back, determined not just to go hide behind the tree, but further than that. Hence, regardless of the paralysis drug in her system, she clung to her sheer willpower to leave, even if it appeared as pathetic as crawling away from the scene.

"It’s alright." Romnick nodded after listening to the other end of the line, but he kept his eyes on Dragon and then at Hera. "That’s bold of you," he remarked after dropping his hand from the earpiece. "But it’s understandable. Keeping her in your arms will only put both of you in danger. Though I must say your ending will be the same."

"As for Hera Cruel..." Romnick’s eyes veered in Hera’s direction. "Dimitri wants to see her in person. He said he was now curious why you are so obsessed with her."

Dragon sneered as a glint flickered across his eyes. "Well, that’s too bad. I’m not letting her go anywhere, especially not in his hands."

"That is not a question, nor your permission is necessary at this point." Romnick held his rifle tighter, subsequently cocking it to finish the job. "I’m simply telling you as a display of respect I had for my former comrade."

Another shallow chuckle escaped Dragon, miffed at the last sentence that rolled out of Romnick’s mouth. Former comrade? They’d never been comrades. They were allies in the past, and he made sure of that even before he joined hands with Dimitri. And yet, in the eyes of these people, he was simply an underling.

How vexing.

"Before I forget, Dimitri has some words for you." The air in the area strangely turned still. "He says he appreciates your services all this time and that... he no longer needs you."

As soon as the last syllable of his sentence rolled out of his tongue, Romnick lifted the rifle and aimed it at Dragon. At the same time, Dragon crossed his arms, hands shoved inside his suit, and in a split second, took out two pistols, which he aimed at Romnick.

BOOM!

Romnick and Dragon didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger, determined to kill each other. However, just as the loud bang came out of their weapons, something massive came down, exploding between Dragon and Romnick. The two men were able to timely jump away from the explosion on instinct, but they were too close that the impact blew them away.

"Kyah!" Hera screamed her lungs out on instinct, hands on her ears, eyes shut. Since she was half-crawling and kneeling, she felt the ground shake right after that explosion. "Kyah!"

She screamed and screamed until she realized someone was hugging her to cover her from behind. Her breath hitched, and looking back, she caught Dragon hugging her back while clenching his teeth.

’Huh?’

Her eyes dilated as her complexion turned pale upon catching the blood trickling down his temple. Dragon simply glanced at her sharply before looking back, only to see a huge fire several feet from them. He couldn’t see Romnick.

"Damn!" he grumbled as he intuitively looked in the direction where that missile came from which was the rooftop. There, he saw a big man standing on the rooftop with a missile rifle in his hand. Despite this distance and that Dragon couldn’t clearly see the person’s face, the latter’s wide and round physique gave away his identity.

’That fucking pig is also here?!’ Dragon clenched his teeth but was unable to entertain questions or unnecessary thoughts in his head. ’He really knows how to get the timing right.’

"Let’s get out of here!!" Dragon grabbed Hera’s arm and, without further ado, took her away from the scene. Fighting Romnick was one thing, but that thing was another case, especially with the lack of backup at the moment.

’There’s no point in fighting here,’he thought, eyes blazing as he felt cornered for the first time in a long time. ’I won’t let him take her away from here!’
