Chapter 918: I’d rather have a threesome

"I wasn’t the one who didn’t let go. It’s you who clings to me... until now."

Hera’s heart dropped slowly as that remark caressed her ears. Her lips fell open, looking at Dragon blankly. What he said was vague and almost confusing. However, a huge part of her heart understood what that meant. Being in Hera’s body and having to deal with the original Hera’s memories gave her a full understanding of the dynamics and relationship she had with her people.

If there was someone else who fully understood Hera and her people, that would be the outsider who was shoved into this body.

From the outside, the original Hera’s relationship with them appeared to be good. It was good and genuine. Almost fun. However, if one looked deeper into it, their relationship was agonizing, miserable, and terrifying. All because of Hera Cruel herself.

’I don’t want to blame her because I also understand her point of view,’Hera slowly gazed down, pressing her lips bitterly. ’But I can’t deny that I also understand them on a much deeper level.’

She often asked Dragon why he loved her and had always wondered why he would go to such lengths for her. However, deep in her heart, she already knew the answer. She simply hoped to hear a different answer. Something that would solidify Dragon’s gradual decline in morale differently. Unfortunately, it always pointed in one direction.

The reason for everything: Hera Cruel.

"You will never fix me, Frank," she whispered, not having the energy to struggle or scream for help. "If you and I survive this, I will make you realize keeping me alive is the worst decision you’ve made."

Her eyelids drooped as peace gradually dominated her face. "Mark my words, Frank."

Dragon’s step slowed down until he stopped, gazing at the multiple cars that were waiting for him and her. However, the people who were supposed to go with him were all on the ground, dead.

"I’m tired." Hera slowly twisted her neck to look in the direction he was looking at. "That guy... do you think he can kill you?"

Except for the cars which had either flat tires or fuming hoods from an outside manipulation and the people lying dead on the ground, a man was leaning against the open trunk. He was lighting up a smoke leisurely, as if waiting for someone. Both Hera and Dragon knew who this man was waiting for — them.

"Romnick," called Dragon coldly, unfazed by the situation he stepped in. "I see that you arrived earlier than I expected."

"Dimitri expected that you’d use the secret passage and won’t take off in a chopper." Romnick blew out a cloud of smoke and gazed at the mansion in the distance. Particularly, at the rooftop of the mansion, where he could see a glimpse of the chopper. "He was right."

"Heh." A glint flickered across Dragon’s eyes, half expecting this from his former partner. "Was he?"

Romnick arched a brow, still unfazed by Dragon’s subtle taunting. "You should drop the pretense, Dragon. You worked with us for quite a long time, so you should know what it meant to betray the boss."

"Dimitri was never my boss."

"That’s what you think."

Another scoff escaped Dragon. "No," he said, shaking his head. "That is the truth."

"I was told to send you a message before killing you." Romnick took another long drag from the cigarette, pulling it away to look at the burning tip of the stick that was almost half an inch from the cigarette butt. "Dimitri didn’t actually want you dead initially, but you’ve caused a bigger problem for him. So, in the end, he decided to take you down."

He snapped his eyes back to Dragon and then at the woman in his arms. "Hera Cruel, my boss wants to ask you a question. Do you want to join our group?"

Hera raised her brows, assessing the man from up and down. The man, named Romnick, exuded this inexplicable confidence. Seeing all the dead people around him, it wasn’t surprising he was calm before Dragon.

"If you joined our family, my boss promised you to have a lot more freedom than being kept in a small mansion," Romnick continued, completely ignoring Dragon. "My boss had always felt sorry for you that you had to go through what you went through."

Dragon chuckled as he shook his head, gazing down at Hera without too much hope. At the back of his head, he believed Hera would accept this proposal in a heartbeat. She would do anything to get away from him, after all. Much to his dismay, the second his eyes landed on her, Hera looked a little irritated.

"The boss you speak of, his name is Dimitri?" she asked, and Romnick simply nodded a bit. Seeing his reaction, a laugh suddenly escaped her. "At this point, I’m so tired of the men whose name starts with the letter D."

’Dragon, Dimitri... Dominic,’ she thought, although Dominic was the least wicked of all.

"So?" Romnick took another deep drag before tossing the cigarette butt to the side, straightening his back. "What is your answer?"

"If I decline, what will you do?"

"I was told to decide," he answered honestly. "My boss said he trusts my judgment whether to keep you alive or dead. I heard about the situation in this place, but after seeing you in person, I decided you wouldn’t be a beneficial addition to our family. Therefore, if you decline, then I have no choice but to kill you. But if you agree, I think we can work things out."

"I see." Hera nodded in understanding, and for some reason, she gazed up at Dragon. She didn’t know why she even looked at him, but she looked away almost immediately after meeting his eyes.

"One last question," she continued. "Is your boss listening right now?"

Romnick arched a brow, a little taken aback by that question. But he still nodded as an answer.

After seeing his action, the corner of her mouth curled up into a smile as she answered, "Dimitri, I’m sick and tired of people pretending they want to help me. I would rather have a threesome with Leo and that psycho in the helicopter than join a pathetic coward like you."
