Chapter 911: She’s alone!
Meanwhile...
Heaven stood in front of a wall in a mansion, staring quietly at the two swords crossed behind the shield mounted on the wall.
"He surely has a bad habit of forcing me to eavesdrop," she whispered, hearing Dominic and Tiger’s conversation through the earpiece while she muted hers. "Or did he do it on purpose so I hear everything? That fool."
Slowly, she lifted her pistol, shooting the end of the shield. The bullet bounced off and left a deep dent in the wall behind her, followed by the echoing clang of the sword and shield falling on the floor.
"It’s been a while since I held a sword," she murmured, taking two steps and pulling out one of the swords. Checking the blade with her finger, she glanced at the thin cut on her index.
She smiled satisfactorily behind her full head mask, saying, "What a sharp little thing," before wiping the blood on her index with her thumb.
Her brows rose as she heard a commotion from the end of the hallway. Turning her head, she caught people taking a turn to where she was. The armed people skidded from their steps upon catching a lone figure standing in the middle of the hallway with a sword in her hand.
Cautious, the armed men assessed the woman standing in the middle of the hallway. She had a sword in her hand, which came from the decoration on the wall. She was wearing this shiny, almost glittery silver full-head mask that covered her entire face and head. All they could see was a glimpse of her eyes behind the thin nets of the mask. Her hair was tied up, matching her slender figure underneath her fitted black leather overall long sleeve that displayed all the curves of her body.
The armed men gulped.
Normally, they would find her alluring and sexy, like a dominatrix who was about to make them beg in the bed. However, looking at her with that sword in her hand and a pistol in the other and the circumstances in the mansion, all they could think of was what this woman had to offer at the table.
Another enemy? Or was she Dragon’s new recruit? Or maybe, one of the elite members of the organization?
Just as the question hovered over their heads, a sudden bang and thud resonated in everyone’s ears. Turning their heads, one of their colleagues fell to the ground and blood almost instantly spread underneath his body. Their eyes went wide while some of them recovered faster, looking back at the woman, only to see the thin smoke from the muzzle of her pistol.
The question in their heads immediately disappeared as that answered them.
This woman was not on their side.
"What are you doing?!" Someone from behind yelled, snapping everyone back to the current lapse. "She’s alone! Take her down!"
That yell brought this inexplicable determination in their hearts, raising their rifles to shoot her down. But alas, none of them opened fire as the woman suddenly threw the pistol away. Some of them even had their breaths hitched.
"She..." someone trailed off, watching the woman twist the sword a little. "... she’s going to use that sword?"
Throwing away her pistol was one thing, but sensing she planned to use the sword against them was shockingly brave. It almost sent a sense of dread down their spine as a memory flashed in their heads. There was also one woman they knew who would occasionally use a sword in a fight just because she was sick and tired of firearms.
And that woman was the only woman in the world they knew who could use such a weapon in a battle and survive in one piece.
Hera Cruel.
But this wasn’t Hera Cruel, and they were certain of that. Hera was already with Dragon and all of them were in here to follow them. Yet, why do they feel this sense of dread creeping up their spine?
Who was this woman?
Meanwhile, the woman they were staring at with equal dread and cautiousness, cocked her head to the side. She studied the faces opposite her, recognizing a few of them as they were once a part of her organization. It had only been a full minute since these people came, yet, it felt like they were frozen in their spot longer than that.
"What a shame," she whispered, swinging the sword and it made this thick swooning noise. "But you guys should’ve taken advantage of the chance I gave every single one of you."
Heaven took a step forward, making everyone tense up. Seeing her approach, another yell came from behind them.
"Take her down!" yelled one man which was followed by gunfire.
The man missed, hitting the vase on the side behind her. Hearing that dissatisfactory gunfire, many of them snapped back to reality. Every single one of them lifted their rifles, aiming it at the woman approaching them with big yet languid steps.
"Take her down!" another yell resonated across the hallway and then followed by a round of gunfires.
Normally, this was an overkill to kill just one person. However, shooting her together would logically do the job faster. But alas... the longer they shoot, the more their hearts raced. The woman barely slowed down, deflecting bullets in her way with her sword while others just missed her.
"More!!" Someone yelled once more, teeth clenched, his aim shaking and panicking.
The more they missed her and the closer the woman got, the more this dread in their chest swelled. Some even took a step back to create a distance. In such a small space, taking this woman down should be so easy. However, they just couldn’t hit her. Perhaps, it was more psychological. Their anxiety spiked the first time she deflected the bullet and now, their aim was distraught by that fact. Thus, the closer the woman was to them, the more sloppy their aim was.
The round of fire suddenly stopped when Heaven stood six steps away from them. They didn’t need to see the entirety of her face to know she was smiling, eerily and amusingly.
Impossible.
A monster.
This person... was the devil herself.
