Chapter 900: Grant us miracle
Hera cried for hours, and Leo patiently comforted her. When she calmed down a bit, he took her to his room. But alas, the moment their eyes met again, her tears started flowing once more.
It was almost silly how someone like her could cry so much. Fortunately, Leo was the type who was blessed with abundant patience. Thus, he comforted her until she fully calmed down. He didn’t realize how long she had been crying, but her eyes were so swollen she could barely open them.
When he could finally talk to her, Leo thought they should use their remaining time together. Hence, though futile, he suggested to do something. Since they couldn’t go out and go to places he wanted to show her, he resorted to the little hobbies he picked up during his stay.
Hera and Leo cooked their meals together, picked some flowers, arranged a vase, and did all those menial activities to keep themselves occupied. This wasn’t the first time they did it, but somehow, this time felt more meaningful.
Unlike the purpose of those activities to keep them occupied and pass the time, they did it today, hoping time would stop. Eventually, Hera started opening up to him and acted like usual. There were some moments she would look at him with deep sadness and longing, but they both pretended not to notice. By the time it was nighttime, he sent her off.
"She can be silly," Leo whispered to himself as he closed the main door behind him. He slowly gazed up and smiled, marching back to his room while keeping his strong front. However, when he was on his way to his room, his steps gradually slowed down.
Each step felt heavy, his shoulders were shaking, and before he knew it, droplets of tears already left their trace on the floor. He stopped, head down, tears escaping his eyes after their long confinement.
"I’m sorry," he expressed through his gritted teeth and sniffles. "That I can’t do anything to stop your tears. I’m sorry for leaving you and hurting you."
The mere thought that he could only count how many hours he had left terrified him. But not because he was scared of death itself, but rather, the idea of leaving her alone in this place terrified him.
"I don’t want to leave." He reached for the wall to not fall, but his knees lost their strength. "Hera, I... don’t want us to end like this."
Slowly, he went down on his knees. His other hand was on the wall, the other clasping his chest. His breathing grew ragged, almost hyperventilating.
"God..." he breathed out in between his silent cry. "... help us."
That night, Leo was too crippled with sorry he failed to reach his room.

When Hera returned to the main mansion, Dragon hadn’t still gotten home. Unlike usual, she didn’t wait for him. She didn’t have the energy to play with him and thus went to bed. However, even when lying in bed for hours, her mind wouldn’t let her sleep.
’It’s the first time he stayed out this long,’she thought, glancing at the shut door on instinct. "Who cares? I’d prefer it if he dies outside."
Hera slowly turned on her side, gazing at the window where the warm moonlight was passing through. She pressed her lips into a thin and tight slash, clasping the blanket over her shoulders.
’God...’she whispered in her heart as another tear rolled across her nose bridge. ’If you can stop the time, please do so.’
It was not like Hera didn’t know the reason she couldn’t sleep. Or why her brain refused to give her some rest. At the back of her mind, she knew that once tomorrow came, she wouldn’t be able to see him again.
’Hera...’ she called out in her mind, reaching her hand out to the original Hera in her memories. ’You said you’d save me. If you will, then tonight’s the night. If you don’t, Leo will... he will... die.’
She shut her eyes, counting in her mind, hoping someone would barge in her door and tell her to come with them. She waited and prayed, focusing her senses on the slightest noise in the area, in case she had to make a run for it. She hoped for commotion, the sound of gunfire that was like those in the original Hera’s memories to come.
Hera waited patiently and sincerely, but nothing. No one came. Even Dragon didn’t come. And before she knew it, it was already bright outside.
Sitting in the bed, Hera stared blankly at the window. She hadn’t had a wink of sleep, thinking if Heaven and her team came last night, she had to be mentally present. Much to her dismay, the night went by so hauntingly peaceful.
"Hera," she whispered, her complexion was as white as a sheet and the life in her eyes dimmed. "You only got a couple of hours to save him."
Her heart sank as the thread of hope she held onto the whole night snapped. It was impossible. Heaven wouldn’t know about Dragon’s activities. Even though she probably knew that Hera was here, Heaven would take time to take action. It was also possible Heaven didn’t expect Dragon’s abrupt decision.
So, how could she expect Heaven to come here?
"I shouldn’t blame her for this." Hera shook her head as she hugged herself. "She will come. She’s smart and I know her more than anyone. There’s no way she had no idea of what’s happening here."
Hera convinced herself, telling herself repeatedly how the original Hera worked. Although there was no more hope, she still had to believe. Because unlike Leo, who accepted his fate, Hera couldn’t. Just as she said, Leo would be her last straw. If he dies, she was as good as dead as well.
"Please..." she whimpered, looking up at the window again that allowed her to admire the glorious morning sunshine. "Just this once grant us a miracle."
