Chapter 883: Got everyone in the palm of his hands
"Use me. I already accepted my fate long ago, so... don’t hesitate to throw me in the middle of the fire. Besides, I always felt like the main character."
Everyone stared at Primo with a different look in their eyes. Primo, on the other hand, kept his gaze fixed on Heaven. Primo might be a sore loser against her, but his background was still not something that couldn’t be underestimated. He lasted this long, not just because he was evil.
"That’s right." Heaven sighed as she planted her hand on her hip. "I already realized this dilemma from the beginning. However, my morals clash with my goals right now. So, I wanted to hear everyone’s thoughts in case they’d make me come up with another idea that is much more effective."
"But alas..." Primo let out a weak chuckle. "It only made you realize there isn’t any other way. If there is, the chances are lower, yet the risks are higher."
Heaven nodded. "That is correct." Another sigh escaped her as she looked at everyone to make sure she got their undivided attention.
"There might be a way," she continued solemnly, taking Primo’s photo from the bottom to the space between Dane and Dragon. "No One had been playing games with Dragon ever since he came out of prison. Joker assisted him, so it wouldn’t be surprising to say Dragon already found out the person behind Hera Cruel’s video."
"No One also has a history with Dimitri. Just like what he said, Dimitri might be arrogant but I’m certain he knew No One from the moment Elmo, Primo Rossi’s assistant approached Andrew Song," she added. "I did quite a lot of digging for the past few days and I found something strange."
Deep lines appeared between their brows except for Dominic. Heaven then looked at her husband, so he could explain to them what she meant by that.
"There’s a reason I kept Dane by my side all this time," Dominic started solemnly. "Dane Zhang was exceptional, especially when he first came into the company. He was the only one who kept up with my unhealthy working schedule, he never complained, and somehow, he always made it look easy."
"It never crossed my mind, but Dane drastically changed compared to when we first met. The reason I’m saying this is not to praise him, but rather, I held him in high regard for a reason," he added, his eyes falling on Primo. "Dane never slipped up until Andrea Ng came into our household."
Hearing Dominic’s explanation, the lines between their brows deepened. Even Primo, who was the mastermind of that scheme, couldn’t help but squint his eyes.
"Right..." Primo snapped his eyes while his pupils dilated. "I remember now."
"Remember what?" Moose arched a brow, intrigued. "Can’t you just remember everything in one go?"
"When I targeted Dominic, I was hesitant," Primo explained. "Even though Silas laid out a deliberate plan, I had some doubts. My reason for that is because even though the idea of stealing Dominic’s identity sounds interesting, he’s a smart man."
"Are you trying to bring back some sour memories or praise him?" Tiger inquired, only to get ignored.
"I told Silas that if he would be able to make it work, then I’d give it a try," Primo clarified. "So, I asked Elmo — may he rest in peace — to find someone who might have a deep grudge against Dominic Zhu or the Zhu family. That was how we found Andrew Song."
"That’s all I did," Primo added under his deep breath. "We offered Andrew Song and Silas was the one who found a way to get him in. Now that I thought about it, I remember telling Elmo that Silas would fail. The reason I said that is that I know Dominic Zhu personally screens everyone that gets to work in the household where his son was."
Tiger squinted as he absorbed every little piece of information that was already common knowledge. But alas, this time, hearing this all over again somehow gave out a different feeling in his heart.
"Don’t tell me..." Moose trailed off as his mouth fell open. "... Dane Zhang didn’t just slip up?"
Heaven let out a deep exhale while Dominic lowered his head.
"I trusted him, so I didn’t double-check the authenticity of the background checks," Dominic spoke again, this time, his tone was much firmer. "If Dane did his job like he usually does, Andrea Ng wouldn’t even get into the household."
"And if that person failed, I would’ve absolved the idea," Primo backed up.
"Now that I recall, that night of the Lyon Group anniversary, you mentioned Silas did all the planning?" Moose recalled, and Primo nodded.
"As I said, I found Dominic Zhu interesting, but not enough to compromise my entire life. Moreover, I’ve never targeted people like him." Primo cast Wolf a look as the man had been hunting him down for years. "It explained my lack of interest that night of the anniversary. Silas wouldn’t even get to say a word if I did the planning."
"Hold on..." Tiger lowered his head, his fingers across his lips and chin. "Don’t tell me..."
When Tiger lifted his eyes to them, the rest of his words rolled back into his throat. Everyone bore a look of surprise as if they already put the pieces together.
"So, in a way, Dimitri had been behind all of those things." The first person to break the building’s silence was Fig in the call. "If we consider everything that was spoken, it’s safe to say he had us all in the palm of his hands. After years of working for Dominic, Mr. Zhang purposely slipped up to secure No One’s participation in it."
Fig paused as if he didn’t want to continue his next remarks. "The question is, how did he know No One would target Dominic?"
"Attorney." Moose lifted his head and looked at Primo solemnly. "How did you meet Silas?"
"Why are you asking me? You’re in the underground probably longer than I do. People know each other’s businesses even before they meet. Silas was a distributor of some goods and I am a notorious criminal." Primo shrugged. "So when he approached me —"
"You’re a person who steals people’s identity." Tiger stopped Primo mid-sentence. "How did he know that at that time, you were playing Primo Rossi?"
"About that..." Primo trailed off as his mouth fell open. His eyes slowly dilated, realizing he missed a critical point.
"I see." Heaven closed her eyes and rocked her head in understanding. When she reopened her eyes, she slowly set her eyes on Dominic. "It seemed... he wanted to end Dom without doing it directly."
