Chapter 881: It’s been ages

"Today’s meeting agenda is... getting two birds with one stone."

And just like that, the meeting commenced.

Wolf facilitated the meeting, taking out this pull-out stick to point at the whiteboard like a professor teaching his students. He first started at the organization’s origins with Dragon’s and Dimitri’s photos at the top. Everything he spewed was already common knowledge. Or what Primo assumed.

"Frank... I mean, Dragon was once the boss’s trusted henchman, the closest to her —"

"Bullshit." Tiger snickered, putting a halt to Wolf’s "presentation." "What do you mean he’s the closest to her? He’s not."

Wolf sighed helplessly as he looked at Tiger with slight pity. "I know what you feel, Tiger. But that’s an undeniable fact."

"Oy, oy, Wolf. A fact and opinion are two different things," Moose chimed in, obviously displeased at the title and place Wolf put Dragon in Hera’s life. "This is a meeting of great importance. We would greatly appreciate it if you don’t put in your personal opinions."

"You... young ones..." Wolf sighed and cast Heaven a helpless look, but her cold expression remained.

"Go on," Dominic jerked his chin lightly. "It doesn’t matter who used to be the closest to her. What’s important is the present."

Moose and Tiger scrunched up their noses, looking at Dominic in dismay. Meanwhile, Wolf sighed for the umpteenth time while Bear couldn’t care less.

"Just as you said, this meeting is of great importance." Wolf cleared his throat. "So, please, you hot-blooded men should shut up or I’ll make you."

A menacing glint flickered across Wolf’s eyes, earning an irritated click of the tongue from Tiger while Moose rolled his eyes. Dominic barely had any reaction, acting as if he wasn’t trying to compete just now.

"Goodness. It’s been ages since we gathered like this, but my stress level is spiking to the roof. This is probably what I dislike about rogues like you." Wolf pinched the bridge of his nose in distress before recollecting his thoughts. "Anyway, the organization under Dragon’s command is originally Dimitri’s. That’s a fact. We can’t tell for sure how those two met or the nature of their relationship. But what we know is that Dragon attacked Dimitri."

"Knowing Dragon, he once betrayed his boss. I’m not saying Dimitri was his boss, considering Dragon might not take any offer of being someone’s underling," Wolf continued. "Moose said I shouldn’t add side comments and personal opinion, but since everyone is asking, my thoughts are that Dragon and Dimitri are more like a partnership."

"No one asked him, though," Primo murmured, biting his tongue when Wolf glanced in his direction.

"Now, Hera’s body — I mean, ahem!" Wolf cleared his throat with his fist before his lips. "We finally figured out that Hera wasn’t dead. Since she wasn’t doing anything to get out of Dragon’s custody, we assume she probably lost her memories. But now, a new information came in and we can be assured Hera simply chose to stay."

Moose and Tiger furrowed their brows as this was new information to them. Looking at everyone’s faces, it seemed only the two of them were surprised.

"I saw her." Suddenly, from the tablet in the middle of the table, Fig was heard. "I infiltrated Dragon’s headquarters due to Deborah and Hunter’s insistence. It would’ve been easy to get her out of there because the situation opened an opportunity. However, she refused to go."

"What the hell is she thinking?" Tiger hissed as his eyes blazed. "Does she want to die?"

"It’s nothing like that," Fig replied calmly. "Although sneaking her out would be easy, with two patients with me, another burden will be too much to bear. Besides, Dragon watches her more carefully than I expected. The only good thing about it is that Hera and Dragon seemed to have a good relationship."

Fig paused as he recalled every detail carefully. "For now, I can assure everyone that Hera is fine. And somehow, Leo Wu also found a way to get to Dragon’s good sides."

"That actor is surely skilled, I must say." Moose rubbed his chin and nodded in satisfaction. "If so, should we focus on Dimitri first?"

"We should." Tiger backed up without a second hesitation. "Ivy is in danger. Unlike Frank, we don’t truly know anything about Dimitri. Not to mention, he knew about us. He had access to most of Dominic’s resources."

"Logically, Dimitri is the one we should be more alarmed." This time, Bear joined in the conversation with a solemn tone. "However, we can’t be complacent. Hera and Leo might be okay now, but it could end at any moment. But that is far from the point. Considering Dragon already made his move and attacked Dimitri, those two will surely do everything to kill each other."

"That’s right." Wolf tapped the whiteboard with the tip of his stick. "Since those two had been working with each other, they’re probably preparing to counter each other as we speak. If you were in Dimitri’s shoes, what would you do if your partner betrayed you?"

A moment of silence befell the room, eyes fixated on Wolf.

"As a selfish and ambitious man, Dragon would surely make sure to protect himself with the thought Dimitri will retaliate," Primo blurted out, biting his teeth when everyone shifted their attention to him. "I’m not sure if he’ll do that, but if I put myself in his shoes, I’d prioritize my safety... is what I think."

Wolf chuckled and nodded in satisfaction. "As expected from the man who used to steal people’s identities. You surely are sharp when it comes to analyzing other people than yourself."

"Tch." Primo clicked his tongue irritably, grasping the sarcasm in Wolf’s tone.

"Anyway, what this guy said leads to my point." Wolf averted his attention to everyone. "I bet Dimitri knows Dragon’s weakness. We all know Dragon’s obsession with Hera, to the point he had faked her death to monopolize her."

"If I were Dimitri, I would target Hera first," Wolf added solemnly, causing heavy tension in the air. "It wouldn’t be a problem if this is before, but..."

He trailed off as he snuck a look at Heaven, locking eyes with her pair of sharp eyes. "... that Hera might find it hard to fend for herself now."
