Chapter 851: It feels like a trap

Meanwhile...

"I know this is a weird question to ask, but is it really fine to leave all those guys there?" Moose inquired, seated across from Heaven in a small living area of the two-story rest house he owned on the outskirts of the northern region.

Thanks to Wolf, who sent a chopper to their previous location, Heaven, Moose, and Primo were able to fly across the country. But now that they had arrived at the rest house, Moose couldn’t help but wonder. Reflecting on the disaster that happened in the forest, he knew it would surely draw the media’s attention.

"Wolf will handle the rest," she said, perched on the other end of the long couch with her legs crossed. Her gaze remained fixed on the entrance while she tapped her fingers on the armrest. "Like the old times. It’s easy to manipulate the media, especially now that Dom is on our side. I also have connections, so don’t worry about that. People will believe it if they hear it was a wildfire due to the weather."

"Weather?" Moose snickered. "Hera, it’s fall."

Heaven arched a brow but didn’t look back at him. "They just have to believe it."

"Man..." Moose ruffled his hair in distress. "Fine, whatever. It’s not like this didn’t happen in the past. Even if the government finds out the truth, they’d still cover it up, anyway."

This time, Heaven didn’t engage with him. What he said was nothing but the truth. Even without any connections, the media would cover up the truth because it would only cause alarm if they discovered such a tragedy was caused by two groups.

"Moreover, no civilians got hurt," he added with a deep sigh. "I guess that’s the only consolation there is."

Moose sighed once more, his gaze fixed on Heaven. She still had her eyes on the entrance, seemingly waiting for someone. He shook his head mildly, realizing everything he was saying had likely been planned. He was now positive Heaven chose that forest for Primo because she knew no one else would be daring enough to live there. Aside from the dangers, it was too far from the main town. No one wanted to live such a primitive life at this time anymore.

It was a perfect place to be if something happened like what just occurred, though.

"By the way—" Just as Moose was about to open up another topic, they heard a car outside. This time, Heaven jumped from her seat and hurried to the door.

"I knew it," he murmured, pushing himself up lazily. "She’s worried about him."

Heaven rushed to the porch and stopped when she saw an SUV pulling up. She sighed in relief as Dominic got out of the front passenger seat, followed by Bear from the driver’s seat.

"Dom," she called out in relief, walking slowly to the stairs.

Dominic offered her a smile as he approached. Taking the three steps up to the porch, he stood in front of her.

"Are you okay?" he asked, scanning her for any injuries.

"I’m okay. Are you?" Heaven scanned her husband to see if he was hurt. Seeing how suspiciously clean and tidy he appeared, it was hard to tell if he truly engaged in a fierce chase and shootout.

"Thanks to Mr. Cruel," Dominic remarked, waiting for her gaze to meet his. "I’m fine, Hera. I’m just glad you’re okay, too. And that no one is hurt." He snapped his eyes at Moose, and he could tell the man was perfectly fine.

Heaven heaved another sigh of relief, leaning into his embrace. "I was worried," she whispered, heart racing nervously.

"Good lord!" Moose, leaning by the entrance with his arms crossed, couldn’t help but scrunch up his face. "Can you do that in your private time? Have mercy on the single guys here!"

Bear chuckled as he walked to the entrance. "This time, though, I don’t want to take credit. If anyone did the work, it was Dominic."

Heaven and Dominic slowly released each other at Bear’s comment. She looked at Bear with furrowed brows, then at Dominic.

"Of course," she said, smiling. "He’s my husband, after all."

Moose rolled his eyes. "But just now, you were acting as if the possibility they died was at an all-time high."

"Dom truly is surprising," Bear nodded at Heaven, ignoring Moose’s side comment. "I didn’t get to praise his marksmanship earlier, but now I have a lot to say about it."

"You flatter me, Mr. Cruel. However, I don’t think this is the time for praise; we have a lot to discuss," Dominic replied, focusing on his wife. "Let’s talk inside."

Heaven nodded, and the three of them made their way in. Moose, initially leaning by the door, stepped aside. Before closing the door, he checked if anyone had followed the two. After ensuring no one was around, he closed the door and faced everyone.

"Where is he?" Just as Heaven and Dominic reached the couches in the living area, Bear looked around. "Did No One die?"

"He’s in the room, resting," she explained, taking a seat beside Dominic. "Apparently, he was shot twice. He’s not on the verge of death, though. People like him always have a surprisingly high survival rate."

"I see." Bear nodded and sat opposite the couple. Moose settled into the one-seater couch.

"This is probably the only thing I’ll never get used to. Normally, you take this spot. I don’t want to be here. It feels like a trap."

Heaven chuckled, looking at Moose in the host’s seat. Bear’s lips curled up while Dominic maintained a plain expression.

"Err..." Moose cleared his throat, leaning forward. "Since I appear to be the host of today’s meeting, let’s start with the most important part."

His expression turned sharp and solemn. "It appears that Ram took Dragon’s side and is now an enemy of ours. We need to find a way to approach Dragon now that that old fella is on his side. We all know how tricky it is to deal with him."
