Chapter 850: Maybe, she’s already dead.

Hera and Leo stared at each other silently, as if making a sound after everything she said was forbidden. After a moment, he looked away and gazed down, his brows raised as he forced a chuckle that only sounded like a deep exhale.

"You’re weird," he commented. "You’re talking about yourself as if you’re a different person."

She wanted to confess, ’Because I am,’ but bit her tongue to stop herself. Hera took a deep breath and looked away.

"The tart is bland," she commented, chuckling. "If you need more ingredients, I’ll tell the head chef to bring you some."

"You don’t have to do that."

"Then if you need anything else, just tell me." Hera set her eyes back on him. "Anything, just tell me. I’ll try my best to get them for you since that’s the only way to compensate you."

Leo opened his mouth to refuse, but in the end, just smiled. "Then I’m going to take you up on that."

"I don’t mind."

"I’m warning you, Hera Cruel." Leo pointed a finger at her jokingly. "You’ll find me very bothersome in no time. I can be an opportunist sometimes."

Both chuckled, and the earlier tension slightly disappeared.

"Anyway, do you feel better now?" he asked, waiting for her to look back at him. "I was worried when you suddenly came in here and were just staring at nothing. For a moment, I thought you snapped."

"Haha. Going crazy is the least you want from me, and yes." She nodded, smiling. "I feel a lot better now, thank you."

"I’m glad to hear that."

Hera’s gaze remained on him, studying the subtle smile and the relief in his eyes. Surely, this man, no matter the circumstances, was a good man. He had always been the man she knew as Heaven; nothing changed.

Just as Hera was about to express her appreciation, she sensed a person approaching the guest’s house. Arching a brow, she glanced at the entrance and sure enough, a shadow was coming up under the door.

"Anyway, thank you for the tart." Hera suddenly rose from her seat and took three steps away from Leo. She smiled and lowered her head slightly before turning around to leave.

"Wait—" Leo also rose from his seat, confused at the sudden change in her tone. For some reason, in a snap of a finger, she felt a little too distant and sounded different. He extended his arm to reach her, but then he caught the entrance door opening.

’Huh?’ Instinctively, he drew his hand back, eyes fixed on the door.

There, emerging from outside, was none other than the devil who ruled this hell: Dragon. Leo furrowed his brows as he instinctively glanced at her back.

’How did she know he was coming?’ he wondered, straightening his back on instinct and maintaining a natural expression.

Hera, on the other hand, stopped in her tracks upon seeing Dragon. The corner of her mouth stretched from ear to ear, her eyes twinkling. Yet, in her heart, she could almost hear her heart racing nervously.

"Frank," she called, skipping toward him until she was in front of him. "Did my uncle leave?"

"Yes." Dragon smiled back and then glanced at the person standing by the couch. His eyes caught the desserts and beverages on the table. "It seems you two are growing quite close."

"We’ve always been close. What are you saying?" she pouted and poked his chest. "I just came to Leo and told him about my uncle."

"Oh?" Dragon’s brows rose as he rocked his head, eyes back on her. "What about him? I thought you were unhappy to see your uncle, considering you didn’t send him off with me."

"It’s not like I don’t like him," she explained, glancing over her shoulder before focusing on Dragon. "Can we talk about this outside?"

Dragon assessed her expression and smiled. She probably didn’t tell Leo everything she truly felt. Why would she? Didn’t she say she only told Dragon everything in her heart? With that thought, every unnecessary doubt disappeared from his mind.

"Sure," he said with a nod. "Let’s go."

"Mhm!" Hera happily linked her arm with his, grinning excitedly. But before they left, Dragon halted, casting Leo a look.

"Leo, I’ll be hosting a dinner later. You should come," invited Dragon. "I prepared a seat for you. I would appreciate it if you do."

Deep lines appeared between Leo’s brows at Dragon’s suspicious invitation. But a second later, he smiled and nodded.

"As long as I have the option to dress up," Leo quipped, raising his brows knowingly. "I’ll be there."

"Good. Someone will assist you with that later," Dragon replied before turning his attention back to his wife. "Shall we?"

"Mhm!"

With that said, Hera and Dragon exited the guest’s house, her arm linked with his. On their way to the main residence, Hera couldn’t help but wonder.

"You’re hosting a dinner later?" she asked. "How come I haven’t heard about it? Is this another of your surprises?"

Dragon chuckled. "It’s not a surprise. I thought about it earlier today. The three of us haven’t had dinner together, so I thought it would be nice."

"Is there a special occasion?" she inquired again. "Are we celebrating something?"

"Well..." Dragon smirked. "Let’s just say there’s a lot to celebrate."

"I see." Hera bit her lip, nodding in understanding. Trying to extract more information about the reason behind his decision, she asked, "Will my uncle be there?"

"I invited him, but I’m not sure if he’ll come." He glanced back at her. "Ram is a busy man, after all. Moreover, he doesn’t like me that much."

"He did mention that." She sighed, pouting.

"Haha! Don’t worry about it, darling." Dragon reassured her, patting her hand. "Although he doesn’t like me, he wouldn’t harm your happiness."

Hera smiled subtly, but her heart filled with dread and anxiety. She worried about Deborah as she had told the latter to ask for Ram’s help. ’Or maybe...’ Hera swallowed hard. ’... she’s already dead.’
