Chapter 809: He told me a secret
Hera spent some time with Leo, chatting with him about Heaven. It was strange for her to talk about herself from a third-person perspective while watching her first love still carry that affectionate look at the thought of Heaven. It was flattering in a way, but considering another soul lived in her original body confused her a little. Overall, everything went well.
They spent it like any other day, getting comfortable in each other’s company.
"You seemed to be in a good mood."
Hera flinched when a voice pierced the peaceful air in her room. She looked back, only to see Dragon coming in the door. She instinctively smiled, stopping from arranging the vase on the stand near the window.
"It makes me wonder..." he trailed off, strutting his way to her and stopping right in front of her. "What cheered up my wife that she’s smiling all by herself?"
Hera pouted playfully, taking a step forward to close their distance. "That’s a secret," she quipped. "My husband has to find out what made me smile like this all by myself."
Dragon arched a brow, assessing the playful look on her face. His eyes slightly squinted, intrigued at the mystery she wanted him to crack himself.
"Come on, darling," he conceded, snaking his arms around her petite waist, gently pulling her closer to him. "I’m tired already and if you don’t give me a straight answer, I’m afraid I’ll lose my mind."
Hera pressed her lips as she hummed a long tune, staring into his eyes playfully. The corner of her mouth curled up until her teeth were on full display. She jumped a little, hugging him back, while keeping her face a distance to see his face.
"I was just thinking of what Leo told me today," she said with a wide grin, making his brows rise in curiosity.
"What did that guy tell you this time?"
Hera bit her bottom lips as she chuckled. "He told me a secret."
"A secret?" he reiterated. "What secret?"
"Of how your friendship started!" Her grin stretched even wider, tickling his curiosity even more. "Leo told me a funny story; he said that before, you two didn’t get along well. He said you were too playful and that he was serious in life, but somehow, because of a misunderstanding, you got in trouble."
Dragon studied her face, his mind blank at what she was telling him about. He only told a brief summary of what Dragon told Hera and then ordered Leo to create a good script to match all that information. In other words, he didn’t know this ’secret’ she was telling him about.
"He said that you were supposed to meet with some colleagues from your internship. But because your colleagues had had enough of your pranks, they decided to prank you during one of your night hangouts," she resumed, giggling at the story that was in her head. "They sent you a fake bar for you to go, not knowing that the bar name actually exists, albeit, a place that was worse than an empty lot."
Dragon blinked as his brows rose curiously, still had no idea where this story was going.
"As a good student you are, you went to the bar they told you about, only to find out it was actually a gay strip club," she giggled, covering her lips. "Apparently, the message was also sent to Leo. So, he also went to the same club where you two met up. Imagining you in such a place makes me laugh because I could imagine the face you’re making when you realize it was just a mere prank."
Hera chuckled as she shook her head while Dragon glanced up a little.
"That ridiculous man," he blurted out under his breath, shaking his head while she laughed out loud. "I can’t believe he told you about that."
"He didn’t want to, but I kept insisting," she defended smoothly, tightening her embrace around him. "Don’t worry, my love. I find it hilarious! I probably knew about that before, but since I lost all of my memories, hearing that you used to be a troublemaker is something unbelievable."
"Even I couldn’t believe it," he remarked, genuinely in disbelief at the nonsense Leo was spewing at her. However, seeing her this happy and cheerful was enough for him to let Leo’s nonsense slip.
"Now, you’re always so serious." Hera pouted again as her eyes squinted. "You always look like this. As if a Dragon ready to breathe fire at a moment’s notice."
The corner of his lips curled up in amusement at the expression she was making. "Is that what I look in your eyes?"
"Yes."
"Really?" This time, Dragon released her from his embrace, placing his palms on either side of her cheeks to squeeze them mildly. "I look that bad?"
With her lips puckered and cheeks squeezed, she replied, "Nu. My husband, if you keep squeezing my face, it might get stuck like this."
"It’s cute though. You look silly."
Hera narrowed her eyes, witnessing his smirk turn to a wide grin. His eyes shone with amusement and affection, pinching her cheeks as if there was already enough fat in them.
"I worked so hard in having more fats — don’t squeeze them too much!" she yelled in an almost gibberish tone, earning a low and cool chuckle from him.
"Whoever told you that is an idiot. Your face won’t get stuck like just because someone pinched them," he remarked, releasing her face, only to see his fingerprint leave a faint mark on it. "Oh... did I press too much?"
Hera rubbed her cheek mildly and nodded. "A bit."
"I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you," he whispered sincerely, lowering his head to kiss her cheek. "Please forgive —"
"Pfft—!"
Dragon stopped kissing her cheek upon hearing her abrupt laugh, drawing his head back. The second he saw the playful grin on her face, his brows knitted.
"I’m kidding," she joked. "My cheeks easily turn red even if you pinch them mildly because of my complexion. It didn’t hurt!"
Hera jumped closer to him, hugging him like a bear. "Hehe. But even so, I like it when you try to coax me like that. I feel like a baby. Hehe."
