Chapter 768: In loving memory
Chapter 768: In loving memory
[Lyon Group: Art Department]
"She’s not here today," an employee sighed, gazing at Heaven’s unoccupied desk. "Do you think she’ll resign soon?"
"Who knows?" The person beside the first speaker shrugged. "She didn’t seem very happy yesterday."
The two exchanged glances and sighed. When Heaven returned after making copies for Mr. Yang, she mentioned writing a note for his daughter and wife. Word spread quickly, and colleagues rushed to her for autographs and pictures.
Heaven granted a few but expressed concern about the potential work delay. She requested everyone to continue the fanfare during lunchtime. However, even before lunch, Heaven left the office and didn’t return.
"It’s all your fault!" someone in the office harrumphed, blaming his colleagues for Heaven’s absence. "If only you had held back, she wouldn’t run away like that!"
Those who heard the man frowned deeply, but no one argued. In a way, they felt responsible. As discussions about Heaven’s absence and possible resignation filled the office with despondency, Belle remained silent.
Observing the gloom enveloping the office, Belle pressed her lips into a thin line, sighing as she glanced at Heaven’s vacant workstation.
’I’m going to miss her,’ she thought, shaking her head as she redirected her gaze to her monitor. While Belle resumed her work to distract herself from the sadness, she noticed something tucked between the documents near her mouse.
"What’s this?" she murmured with furrowed brows. Curious, Belle slowly pulled the pink note from between the documents, narrowing her eyes as she read it:
[I asked for a few days off from Mr. Yang. Not sure if this will be permanent, but just know I appreciate you for everything. Take good care of yourself, my friend.
Xoxo,
Heaven <3]
Her brows rose in surprise before her expression softened. There was a signature underneath the note, granting Belle—Heaven’s ultimate fan girl—an autograph. Belle read the note a couple more times, and each time she felt her heart warm at the thought of Heaven giving her such a sweet note.
"She’s really the best," she whispered, holding the note as if it were her treasure. "I’m so glad to know her. I hope we can hang out even when she leaves."
What Belle didn’t know was that this wasn’t the only surprise Heaven had prepared for her. As a gesture of appreciation for their friendship and likely as a farewell, Heaven sent numerous gifts to her house, which she was certain Belle could use in the future.

[Lyon Group: Secret Floor]
During Dominic’s tenure, he assembled a team of experts to establish an intelligence unit. At that time, facing a breach of trust from the General, Dominic found it challenging to rely on external intelligence sources. Despite assisting in the replacement of the late General with a reliable figure, Dominic decided against entrusting third parties with information gathering.
Referred to as a secret floor, it wasn’t concealed in the sense of being hidden; rather, it presented itself as an ordinary floor, camouflaging its true nature as a secure unit.
Even after Dominic stepped down, everyone on this floor continued to be on his payroll. While Axel had some degree of control, aside from inquiring about Heaven’s whereabouts and gathering minor information, he had yet to leverage its full potential.
Therefore, Heaven decided to use this floor to work. It was a much better and more peaceful place than the art department. Not that her colleagues give her work to busy herself.
"Found him?" Heaven spoke quietly, conversing through her earphones. "Not yet, huh?"
All eyes in the secret control office turned to the corner where Heaven sat — Dominic’s wife and the current CEO’s sister-in-law. Earlier that day, they received a memorandum that Heaven would work in this place. No explanations were given, and besides the head of the department, no one dared question her presence in this secretive office.
Unlike employees from other departments, there was no gossip here. Lingering questions and concerns persisted, but since the head of the department had even prepared a workspace for her, no one wasted time asking each other. They simply became cautious about revealing any relevant and confidential information to her. Heaven might be Dominic’s wife, but that didn’t mean everyone should trust her immediately.
"It’s fine," whispered Heaven, hearing the click-clacks from Joker typing as fast as he could on the other end of the line. "No, forget it. I got it."
"So soon?!" Joker gasped, stopping everything he was doing, wide-eyed. "You found his hideout?"
"No, but I got something more relevant," she replied nonchalantly, unbothered by the occasional gazes around her. "Looking for his hideout is a waste of time. Gather all information you can about him."
"But I already —"
"It’s still not enough." Heaven paused, glancing around, satisfied that her desk’s location shielded her activities. "I found someone useful."
Her eyes fixed on the monitor displaying a person’s profile. A glint flickered across her eyes as its corners sharpened.
"Joker, book a flight now," she ordered. "I need you to do something else for me."
Joker arched a brow, snapping his eyes to the monitor. Without even doing anything, a file came into his system, and a person’s profile appeared. He narrowed his eyes, but before he could do or say anything, Heaven spoke again.
"This is a rank A mission."

Meanwhile, somewhere in the world...
"What..." Deborah stood motionless at the farthest part of the gymnasium where a graduation was taking place. Her eyes widened, her heart sinking as it skipped beats. She could feel her fingertips turn cold, and this coldness slowly traveled to every fiber of her body.
"... Tarrah," she whispered as her complexion turned as white as a sheet. "Why... is your picture up there?"
Her lips parted as she fixed her eyes on the projector, showing slides of her sister’s pictures. As the melancholic orchestra faded and continuously played in a low tone, the slide came to an end. It was Tarrah’s photo with something written beside her picture. It said:
"In loving memory..."
