Chapter 763: Wishes
Chapter 763: Wishes
The staff from the Tiger food truck, sent to Ivy’s company, diligently arranged tables and chairs in front of the building. A crowd of employees gathered, eager to enjoy a variety of dishes distinct from the typical cafeteria fare. Meanwhile, Ivy generously shared the delectable offerings with her team, savoring the meal with evident enjoyment.
Observing this scene from a distance inside his car, Tiger couldn’t help but smile. His focus remained on Ivy, appreciating her radiant smile as she shared a meal with some people.
"How I wish I could join her," he mused, tapping his fingers against the steering wheel. "But I guess I have to hold back for now."
Leaning back comfortably in the driver’s seat, Tiger propped his elbow against the window, observing everyone relishing the lunch he had arranged. Thankfully, Dane had recommended some reliable food trucks that could cater on short notice.
"Heh." A chuckle escaped his sly smirk. "I wonder what his reaction would be if he found out he inadvertently helped me console the woman who used to pursue him."
Though not a game for Tiger, the notion brought a sense of satisfaction. Ivy had relentlessly pursued Dane, who consistently rejected her advances. After years of unrequited love, fatigue had settled into Ivy’s heart, allowing her to move on.
"Does he regret it, though?" Tiger hummed a tune, his eyes fixed on Ivy in the distance. He contemplated her radiant smile and captivating presence that illuminated the surroundings. His eyelids drooped slightly as his lips formed a thin line.
"He must be."
A glint flickered in Tiger’s eyes as he shifted his gaze from Ivy. Redirecting his attention to the windshield, the lingering softness vanished without a trace.
’This is not the time to stalk her,’ he thought, straightening his back. ’I’m suspended from duty as Dominic’s bodyguard, but not as Hera’s. I mustn’t idle.’
The matter of Heaven’s request remained. Dane’s trustworthiness was still in question, not only for Heaven but also for Tiger, Ivy, and Dominic. Tiger, harboring a liking for Dane, saw this as an opportunity to resolve the uncertainty surrounding the man. Dane’s history with Dominic dated back before Bear and Tiger — he was with Dominic even before the original Heaven married Dominic — making Dane a pivotal figure in their lives.
Tiger had witnessed different levels of duplicity in the underground, with seemingly good individuals revealing their true malevolence. Dragon, in particular, exemplified betrayal within a supposed family.
Tiger whispered as he drove away, "Be innocent and a coward, Mr. Zhang. You’ll hurt many people if you’re revealed as a bad apple."
Tiger sincerely hoped Heaven’s suspicions were unfounded. He wished Dane to be innocent—a cowardly yet clever person. His wish was genuine, hoping for Dane’s innocence, for Ivy, himself, and Dominic’s sake.
It was also one of Heaven’s secret wishes. That her hunches were wrong, and that she was over-analyzing things. There was no way Dane would betray Dominic.

[Dragon’s Den]
Hera stood by the window, observing the people going in and out of the bungalow. With nothing else to occupy her time, she returned to the garden to enjoy a cup of tea and better observe the people.
"They switch," she murmured, noting the changing of guards every hour or two. Two men would enter the bungalow, replacing the previous guards. Hera wondered if this was the standard procedure for inspections.
"Is that how inspections are conducted?" she pondered, blinking slowly. Noticing that no new guards replaced the two leaving the bungalow, she concluded, "They’re probably done for the day."
A smile graced her face as she acknowledged the possibility of a simple rotation to ensure the guest house’s maintenance. Hera looked around, realizing it was almost nighttime.
As darkness settled, warm lights illuminated the garden. With this realization, Hera decided to return to her room before her husband came back, not wanting to cause him unnecessary worry.
Just as Hera turned to leave, she paused. Turning her head back to the bungalow, she pressed her lips into a thin line, a curious feeling stirring within her.
"Why?" she whispered to herself, her gaze fixed on the bungalow. "Why do I feel compelled to go there?"
Mulling it over, even as she tried to dismiss the urge, Hera couldn’t shake the feeling. "I’ll just take a peek," she resolved, taking careful steps toward the bungalow.

Seated in the backseat, Dragon held the phone in front of his ear and nodded. "I see," he said, snapping his eyes at the window beside him.
"You can’t come home yet?" he inquired calmly, staring at the flashing sideroad. "That’s sad."
"Do you need me now?" asked the other person on the other end of the line.
"I released Deborah," Dragon remarked. "She went home to be with her sister, but that is alright. The situation with Hera is... better."
"Better?"
"Yes, better than expected."
"Franko," called the person on the other end of the line, his voice laced with solemness. "Don’t let that woman deceive you."
"That is the most insulting thing you told me. She’s not deceiving me and even if she tries, I’ll just fry her brain just enough." Dragon’s expression revealed his nonchalance at the idea. He leaned back comfortably, tapping his other hand on his lap.
"I should tell you the same," he continued in the same manner. "Finish your affairs immediately and return. I’m arranging a meeting with Ram soon. Once we agreed, I needed someone to run the city."
"Are you sure the old man will allow you to boss him around?"
"No." The corner of Dragon’s lips curled up into a smirk. "That man has too much pride in him — just like any other reapers. But for Hera... their beloved Hera, they’d do anything for her."
His eyelids drooped as he lowered his gaze. "Just like what I’m willing to do for her in the past."
There was a moment of silence in the line as neither Dragon nor the person on the call spoke.
"This will be over soon," said the other person. "I’ll come back once I settle my matters in here."
