Chapter 753: A scare

After breakfast, everyone went on to do their daily routine. Heaven and Dominic woke up Sebastian and helped him prepare for school. Heaven had just given her son what the chef had prepared for breakfast, as the one she made was not edible.

Heaven had to go to the office today and face what she left behind the past week. Therefore, Dominic offered to drop his son off and Princess at school. Dominic had no other commitments besides attending charity events and visiting the police station for updates on Leo’s disappearance. Gray and Tiger would stay behind to look after Miracle, and Bear would tag along with Dominic.

Meanwhile, after busying herself with her children in the morning, Heaven hopped in Axel’s car for a free ride. Axel would click his tongue every once in a while, annoyed at the morning experience he had today.

"Just drive, Axel," Heaven kept her eyes on the windshield, not having the spare energy to argue with the man in the driver’s seat. "I didn’t mean to feed you poison early in the morning. Your beautiful sister simply has a lot of things on her mind."

"That’s not it! My point is, you guys could’ve said anything before I ate that poisonous bacon!"

She huffed and cocked her head back, looking at him unenthusiastically. "I’m sorry."

"Tch." His frown deepened. "It’s even more annoying that you’re not defending yourself nonsensically. It could have been better if you argued so I could release my frustrations!"

"Oh, how I love to argue," she muttered as she looked away. "But I’m sorry, my dear little brother. Your big sis has a lot of things on her mind right now."

Axel raised a brow as he glanced at the front passenger seat. "What’s the problem?"

"Nothing." She shrugged.

"Come on, sis. Seriously? I’m the most trustworthy person you can confide in. I’m sure this is not just nothing."

"I’m serious." Heaven kept her eyes on the side mirror, her expression still the same. "It’s nothing, and that’s why it bothers me."

"Why?"

"Leo Wu," she said. "His disappearance concerns me. But even if I want to help, I don’t think I would want the consequences. I might end up putting my children in danger."

"Oh..." Axel rocked his head in understanding, eyes on the road. He heard about what happened to Leo. Even though the information was kept from the public, his brother was helping with the investigations. Since Axel was now the CEO of the Lyon Group and one of the company’s subsidiaries was the Zyon Networks. Axel would hear about this one way or another because his brother ordered an information lockdown.

"He’s your friend, so I’m sure you’re worried," he said after a moment of pondering. "If I were in your shoes, I’d also want to help, but not at the cost of my own or my family."

Heaven cast Axel a look. "Thank you."

"But at the same time, I will feel regretful if something happened to that good friend and I didn’t do anything even when I knew I could help," he continued, giving her a side-eye. "Sis, I know you don’t want to put Miri and Basti in danger. But I also think you have other ways without compromising the children’s safety."

"You don’t understand, Axel." Another deep exhale slipped past her lips. "The suspect behind Leo’s disappearance is a very dangerous man."

"More dangerous than that Primo guy?"

Heaven paused as she snapped her eyes up for a moment. "Yep. Primo won’t even come close."

"Oh."

"But now that you mention that guy..." the corner of her lips curled up as she looked at the driver’s seat. "I suddenly had an idea. Thank you, Axel."

"What did I do?"

"You were curious." She let out a short chuckle as she looked away from him again. "It’s true that I want to help Leo, but I don’t really know how to deal with this without risking a thing or two. After all, this shouldn’t be a problem I should fix. But the more I think about it, the more my hunch tells me that this will eventually lead to me, one way or another."

"Sis, seriously, were you a gangster before you were a celebrity?"

Her lips curled into a smirk. "I am more than just a gangster, Axel."

"Then, what?"

"I was a don in an infamous assassin organization."

"..." Axel deadpanned at the joke she spewed. "I’m not joking, sis. I’m being serious here. Otherwise, how can you be tangled with such dangerous people?"

"And I’m not joking either."

"Huh?" Axel furrowed his brows as he turned his head to the passenger seat.

"I’m not Heaven Liu, Axel," she confessed calmly. "My name’s Hera, and also, keep your eyes on the road. You’ll kill the both of us."

Axel instinctively set his eyes on the road, brows furrowed. "The hell are you talking about?"

"Just saying." She shrugged. "Believe me or not, it’s your choice."

"Haha." He shook his head, taking this as a joke. Thus, he replied sarcastically, "You’re saying you’re possessed?"

"More like this body is possessed by me."

"You’re a ghost?" he gasped, only to hear nothing from her. Axel kept his eyes on the road, gulping a mouthful, heart racing like crazy. He could feel Heaven looking at him from the front passenger seat, but from his perspective, her face seemed to darken.

Was it possible that Heaven didn’t really get in his car? And this person he was talking to was not a real person but a... ghost? His expression turned pale as his grip on the steering wheel tightened. He stepped on the pedal harder, speeding through the freeway.

’I think I’m cursed to enter a car,’ he told himself nervously. ’If I turn my head and she turns out a monster, I’ll commute my way to the office from today onwards.’

Axel held his breath as he glanced at the stoplights. He instinctively stepped on the brakes, stopping at the red light. He drew a deep breath and mustered his courage to look at the front passenger seat. As soon as he did, Heaven bit her lips to suppress her laughter but to no avail.

"Pfft —" She covered her lips with her hand, watching Axel’s terrified expression die. "That scared you, did it?"

"Sis!"

"Haha. I’m joking." Heaven waved dismissively. "Goodness. That’s hilarious. How can you believe in such things so easily? Do you really think I am possessed? There’s no such thing, you know?"

Axel grumbled as he glared daggers at her. After experiencing all sorts of traumatizing things in a car, which he used to be so passionate about, he almost believed she was actually a ghost!

How dare she play with his heart!? Axel might be displeased at letting her ride with him, but for Heaven, she was thankful to ride with him. After all, he somehow helped her gather her thoughts and where she had to start from all of this.

"By the way, Axel, can I borrow your control room?" she asked, earning a suspicious look from him.

"What for?"

"Just... that I need a place to hide." Her lips stretched from ear to ear until her lips were fully displayed.
