Chapter 752: Salty
Chapter 752: Salty
"Good morning!"
Coming in with a smile as bright as the midday sun, Tiger dragged a chair and plopped his butt down on it. His brows rose as he scanned everyone who was giving him this strange look. The stifling atmosphere quickly disappeared with his beaming smile and strong odor.
"Holy shit..." Gray whispered, looking at Tiger in disbelief. "What the hell is that smell?"
"What smell?" Tiger cocked his head to the side and then sniffed at himself. "Oh, you mean this? It smells nice, isn’t it?"
"It makes my head hurt," Princess remarked monotonously, staring at Tiger dead in the eye. "Just what is wrong with you?"
"Can you please go away?" Fig requested with a sad face. "I miss my brother, who rarely showers. You smelled nice back then."
"Are you possessed or what?" Heaven chimed in with a scrunched face. "If you think you’re changing for the better, then you’re wrong. It’s quite the opposite."
Tiger’s face twitched at the comments he received in the very first minute he came in.
"If there’s someone who’s possessed here, that would be you." He pointed at Heaven before he looked at the faces around the dining table. "Goodness. You guys don’t understand this because you can never afford this perfume. Look at Dom! He’s not saying anything because he knows just how much this perfume cost."
Dominic, whom Tiger suddenly put in the center of attention, paused in his meal. He glanced at the latter, only to realize everyone was looking his way, waiting for his comment.
"I love my wife, and I don’t want any problems with her family," he said politely. "Please. Leave me out of this."
"Tiger, I don’t care where you spend your money. However, I will care if it affects us," Bear followed Dominic’s remarks as he cast Tiger a look. "You do know that expensive perfumes like that aren’t meant for bathing, right?"
Tiger’s frown deepened as Bear joined in. "There’s something wrong with all of you," he said while clicking his tongue, reaching for the serving spoon to serve himself breakfast. "When I don’t shower every day, you always tell me my odor is bad. But now that I’m trying to fix that, you still have a say in it! Surely, you cannot please everyone!"
"I’m trying to change myself for the better, alright? If you guys can’t support it, that’s okay, but don’t try to sabotage me," he continued with a dead expression. "This is why everyone here is experiencing karma. You guys are just the fucking worst."
He shook his head in dismay, doing his best not to let others sour his mood. It was too early for him to let others sour his mood. Therefore, he proceeded to eat his breakfast. But alas, just as he shoved the rice and meat into his mouth, he immediately threw it back out.
"What the fuck is this abomination!?" he gasped, looking up at everyone before setting his eyes on Heaven. "Are you trying to poison all of us?"
"Huh?" Heaven cocked her head to the side. "What the hell are you saying?"
She glanced at Fig as he was the first person to eat the food. Dominic, Bear, and Heaven only ate the bread and hadn’t eaten anything else yet. Much to her dismay, the food on Fig’s plate was barely touched, and the man was chewing while beads of sweat formed on his forehead.
"Ralph, are you okay?" she asked worriedly as he looked like he was having indigestion.
Fig forced a smile and nodded. "It’s salty."
"No, it can’t be." Heaven reached her hand out to get a piece of bacon. She took a large bite and even before she could chew it, she spat it out on her plate.
"See?" Tiger grumbled. "You guys judge me by my choice of perfume —"
"Correction. We’re judging your knowledge of how to properly use it, not the perfume itself." Gray rolled his eyes, relieved he hadn’t eaten anything yet. Tiger cast Gray a look of dismay and clicked his tongue.
"How can it be too salty?" Heaven, whose focus was on the bacon, furrowed her brows. "I cooked them like how I normally cook them."
Bear glanced at Dominic after hearing her remarks. "Don’t tell me you’ve been eating this breakfast that tastes like they’ve been soaked in ocean water overnight all this time?"
"I love my wife, but I won’t let her kill me in that way," Dominic answered and shook his head, setting his eyes on his wife. "Heaven, are you still going to deny that Leo’s disappearance doesn’t affect you?"
"Who disappeared?" Tiger arched a brow, turning his head in Princess’s direction when she answered; "Leo Wu."
"Leo, who?"
"Wu."
Tiger deadpanned. "I’m not joking, Princess."
"That guy the boss worked with in that action film over a year ago." Gray clicked his tongue as he sensed the dark aura coming out from Princess. "That famous guy. You remember him?"
Tiger rubbed his chin, and he hummed for a long time. After a few seconds, his lips parted as he rocked his head in understanding.
"Oh! I saw that movie!" his eyes twinkled as his lips stretched before he knitted his brows. "He’s missing?"
"More like he was abducted." Bear shrugged, earning Tiger’s attention. "We suspect the person behind it was Dragon."
"Huh?" Tiger arched a brow. "Why would he abduct that guy? I don’t think there’s any reason for him to do so."
"That’s what we also thought, but at the same time, all evidence points at him," explained Bear before he shifted his eyes to Heaven. "Hera, we understand you do not want to put the children in danger. However, helping with the investigation doesn’t mean you have to march into the Dragon’s Den like you used to do."
Bear leaned forward, eyes swirling with concern. "Leo is a dear friend to you, and we all know that. Just think about it. After all, if there’s someone who can help him and give him a higher chance of survival, that would be you."
Heaven pursed her lips as she held Bear’s eyes before she glanced at Dominic. Her husband nodded at her slightly, and then she looked at Gray and Princess. Those two offered her a reassuring smile.
"I’ll think about it," she whispered. "I need time to reconsider my options."
"What’s there to think about?" Tiger rebutted, only to hear Princess speak. "Just let him be!"
"You’re still suspended. Shut up."
And just like that, everyone resorted to drinking their coffee paired with a piece of bread as breakfast. Not long after, Axel came in to join them for breakfast. Everyone watched him complain about the strong smell of perfume, eat a piece of bacon, and spit it out in silence.
