Chapter 751: Perfume
Chapter 751: Perfume
[Zhu Couple’s Matrimonial Home]
It was just one weekend, but it felt longer than it should, especially for Heaven. Although she went home that day from the hospital, the thought of Leo didn’t leave her mind. Dominic was also busy as he was helping with the investigation. Even so, Heaven didn’t do anything to help or meddle with this problem.
"Are you sure you are okay?" Dominic glanced at his wife as they prepared the table for breakfast. It was rare for them to set the table since maids were in the mansion. However, his wife got up early to make breakfast, and since Dominic came home late last night, he wanted to help her with it.
Heaven stopped placing the trays on the table as she looked at him. "Why wouldn’t I?"
"Because you’ve been thinking about what happened," he said as he resumed placing the cutlery on the table. "And I’m sure it bothers you."
"It does bother me, but it doesn’t bother me enough to jump in mindlessly," she replied, finishing up the table. "This is a matter that shouldn’t concern me. I should let the authorities handle it."
She paused and looked at him. "You’re helping with the investigation, so... I don’t need to do anything."
"Hera." Dominic stopped after placing down the last pair of cutlery on the table. He turned and faced in her direction, resting his hand on the chair’s backrest. "You want to help him."
"But I don’t need to."
"Hera."
"Dom." Heaven let out a deep exhale as she looked back at him. "My life now and my life in the underground are different. If I jumped into this matter all on my own, there’s a high possibility our children will be in danger."
"You don’t have to be at the center of the investigation."
"That’s not what I’m saying, Dom," she argued calmly. "Dragon and I already met. If I keep jumping into his business, that shouldn’t concern me, then that’s more like jumping out of the pan into the fire. I’m not risking it, not for me or you, but for our children."
A moment of silence befell the two of them until Dominic let out a shallow sigh.
"Should I drop my participation as well?" he returned quietly. "If you say it like that, it sounds like I am simply putting my family in danger."
"That’s a different story," she muttered as she walked toward her seat. She dragged the chair, causing it to screech a little against the floor. When she plopped her butt down, she turned her head in his direction. "Let’s not talk about this for now, Dom. We — I mean, I need to gather my thoughts first."
Dominic pressed his lips into a thin line, watching his wife reach for a piece of bread. Another shallow breath slipped past his lips, snapping his eyes at the entrance upon sensing a person’s presence.
"Good morning," Bear greeted calmly as soon as he stepped into the dining room. "You’re early, Hera."
"I’m always early," was her answer, making Bear glance in Dominic’s direction. The latter simply shook his head mildly before marching to the head seat near Heaven.
Bear darted his eyes between the couple, sensing this strange atmosphere between them. Or more like this strange atmosphere Heaven was emitting. On his way here, he got a snippet of their conversation and thus, he understood the couple was in a disagreement. He didn’t need to overhear their conversation to know something was bothering Hera, though.
Bear didn’t speak his mind as he sat on Dominic’s left, across from Hera’s spot. He glanced at the table that the couple arranged, reaching for the small basket of bread. His lips parted, but then he could only clear his throat.
’Well.’He cast Dominic another look, only to see the man eat in silence. ’We can’t force her to help if she doesn’t want to.’
Not that they judged her for this. Her reason was valid. After all, Leo had nothing to do with her. He was her former colleague and a friend, but that wasn’t enough for her to march into the center of hell. Her children’s safety was far more important.
Even so, if she was going to be like this and continue to shroud the mansion with her dark energy, it was only a matter of time before it suffocated everyone. Bear shook his head as he decided to stay quiet.
"Good morning..." Gray’s jolly voice pierced the thick air as he entered the dining area. As soon as he stepped inside the area, his voice trailed off as he furrowed his brows. His eyes instantly fell on the three people around the dining table.
"Er... is there something wrong?" he asked as he trod carefully, taking the farthest seat from Heaven. "What’s with this air? Did someone die?"
His brows rose as he earned a look from Dominic and Bear. Both men didn’t say anything, but Gray instinctively glanced in Heaven’s direction. His lips formed an O shape.
’Someone woke up from the wrong side of the bed,’he thought, shrugging, and then catching a figure entering the dining room. He turned his head and saw Princess and Fig entering.
Just like Gray, the two stopped by the entrance. Deep lines appeared between their brows as they looked at the people around the table. Dominic and Bear didn’t pay them any attention, but Gray was making a slicing gesture in front of his neck.
"Hera, is there something wrong?" Fig inquired as he marched inside, taking a seat near Bear, as that spot would give him easier access to the food. "It’s bad if you affect everyone’s mood."
Princess glanced at Fig, who was nonchalantly speaking his mind while she took any random seat around the table.
Heaven chewed slowly as she glanced at Fig. "Sorry."
"It’s fine. I’m just speaking for everyone, I don’t care. I don’t think it will affect my meal experience." He shrugged as he reached for the main course before anything else.
Heaven watched Fig and sighed, looking away from him and then scanning everyone. She didn’t mean to sully the mood in the house, but perhaps, her silence was enough to affect everyone. But just as her mouth parted, her face twitched, just like everyone at the strong scent of perfume that attacked their nostrils.
"Hello, everyone! Good morning."
Everyone turned their heads at the entrance, only to see Tiger coming, smelling like he bathed in perfume.
’I thought I’d suffocate because of her dark energy,’Bear thought in dismay. ’But I guess before that happens, I’d suffocate first because of his perfume.’
