"Oh, no, you don’t!"

Heaven dropped her hands and strode back to Ivy. Instead of taking a seat, she went straight to her friend to check her neck. After checking the side of Ivy’s neck, she picked the latter’s arm and pulled up her sleeve.

"What are you doing?" Ivy asked, confused. "Heaven."

Heaven looked back at her and asked, "Did anything intimate happen between you two?"

"What?"

"Ivy, we’re friends and if in case you forgot, I now have two children. I could’ve had more if my husband and I weren’t careful," Heaven explained in a blank tone. "Now, tell me, did something happen between you two?"

Ivy opened and closed her mouth, speechless at her friend’s bluntness. But in the end, she still had to give an answer because Heaven was waiting.

"No." Ivy pulled her arm from Heaven and lowered her sleeve. "Nothing happened, okay?"

"Really?"

"Why do you sound surprised? Heaven, you know I’m inexperienced."

"I’m surprised not because of you. I know you can be easy sometimes." Heaven pushed herself away from the couch and then jumped on the armrest. She perched comfortably there, resting her arm on the headrest, eyes on Ivy. "More like I’m surprised he didn’t do anything when you confessed."

"I’m a little offended by your first sentence." Ivy sighed but was already used to her friend’s casual roast. After all, Heaven wasn’t making things up. Ivy could be sometimes easy or rather weak. She would strip if Tiger asked her to.

"But anyway, nothing like that happened." She cleared her throat as she straightened her back. "I confessed, but I told him I wanted to focus on myself first. Considering I am still healing from Mr. Zhang, I don’t want him to think I’m just using him. Also, I want to take your advice. I realized that you’re right. How can I love someone when I don’t even love myself enough?"

A subtle smile dominated Ivy’s face as she continued. "He told me not to rush things because he’ll still be single no matter what. So, there’s that. I’m happy to know he is interested."

While Ivy summarized the happening on her side last night, Heaven stayed quiet. Heaven assessed Ivy’s eyes as the latter talked about Tiger while rubbing her fingers together.

"You should listen to him." When Heaven spoke with a tinge of seriousness, it made Ivy’s brows elevate. "Don’t rush, Ivy. Loving yourself more and giving yourself enough sense of value will keep you strong in the future. It’ll keep you strong in any heartbreak."

"What... what’s with the sudden change of tone?" Ivy let out an awkward chuckle, sensing this strange seriousness from her friend. It was as though Heaven wasn’t simply giving her a piece of advice, but a warning.

"Ivy, Tiger’s line of job requires him to put himself in danger if necessary," Heaven explained, guessing the questions in Ivy’s mind. "Especially now that Dom is running for a government position — and not just any position, but a minister — things can get a little rough."

The corner of Ivy’s mouth curved down a bit. "I think I already know what a bodyguard’s job is, Heaven."

"And you’re fine with it?"

"Well... I don’t know yet." Ivy shrugged. "All I know right now is that I’m relieved he’s interested in trying in the future."

"I see." Heaven rocked her head as she looked away. She hummed for a moment and then arched her brows, sliding her eyes back to her naive friend. "Think about it carefully, Ivy. It’ll be disheartening if you two end up hurting each other. That’ll break my heart."

Ivy smiled subtly as her eyes softened. As Heaven’s best friend, she knew the latter was sincere with her last remarks.

"Don’t worry. I might’ve rushed my confession, but I will not rush into committing to a relationship. Not when I know that a man leaving me will ruin me again," Ivy reassured with a nod. "I got this, girl."

"If you say so." Heaven nodded, smiling back at her. "I wish nothing but the best for you, Ivy."

"I know that. That’s why even when I was a little hesitant and scared of an earful scolding, I told you about it." Ivy’s lips stretched from ear to ear while Heaven could only sigh faintly.

’That damn animal...’ Unlike her soft exterior, Heaven seethed in anger as she thought of Tiger. ’Does he not know his current disposition right now? He’ll really need a beating this time.’

The new Hera looked at the photo album on her lap. She flipped each page slowly, scanning the photographs one by one. Most of them were photos of her and a man who had introduced himself as her husband.

"Frank?" her voice still sounded a little coarse and weak. "Are these us?"

Dragon, who was sitting on the edge of the bed, smiled. He watched her slowly raise her head, eyes swirling with nothing but curiosity.

"Yes, darling," he breathed out with a nod. "That’s us."

"How long had we been married?"

"A little over eight years."

"That long?"

Dragon pressed his lips with the corners still curled up. He shrugged weakly as he sighed.

"Is it long for you?" he replied, reaching for her hand to hold it. "For me, even forever isn’t enough. I’m just glad you recovered from your sickness."

Hera’s lips were drawn into a thin line as she studied the man’s pair of affectionate eyes. She cast her eyes down, only to see his thumb caressing her knuckles.

"How long was I in a coma?" she asked as she lifted her gaze back to him.

"Five... six years."

"I see." She pressed her lips into a line as she rocked her head.

"Don’t worry about it anymore. What matters is that you’re fine now, darling. We can be together again. All you have to do is recover back to full health."

"Mhm." Hera let out a short and soft hum, which was something new to his ears. Hera never sounded soft because every word that would come out of her mouth sounded like a threat. "Frank, can I ask you one thing?"

"What is it? I’ll tell you everything you want to know, sweetheart."

Hera hesitated for a moment, but her curiosity prevailed. "What was I like before I fell sick?"

The corner of Dragon’s lips curled up as a glint flickered across his eyes. Yet, it wasn’t enough to change the entirety of his facade.
