Chapter 711: Repeat
Chapter 711: Repeat
"Sometimes, I find you fickle," Ivy mused as she closed the door behind her, her eyes on Heaven, who was marching into her office ahead of her. "First, you didn’t want to meet me in the office, telling me you needed some air to breathe. But now, you insisted on coming in here."
Heaven stopped in her tracks and looked back with a smile. "I realized I might stay with you longer."
"It’s really a bad day, huh?" Ivy chuckled before taking her first step. She motioned her hand toward the set of couches. "Come, sit down. Do you want me to get you anything?"
"Nope." Heaven shook her head as she raised the takeout milkshake in her hand. "This is enough."
"Very well."
With that said, the two women took a seat on the set of couches inside her office. As Heaven’s buttocks landed on the soft cushion, she looked around Ivy’s office.
"Nice office. Very aesthetic," she commented. "I haven’t been here before."
"You’ve never visited me," Ivy shrugged. "Ever."
"Huh?" Heaven looked back at her friend with an arched brow. "What do you mean, I never visited you?"
Ivy raised her brows as she rested her leg over the other. "Literally."
"Hah. I visited you..." Heaven trailed off as she thought of any memory she visited Ivy, but to no avail. It never crossed her, but now that her mind was on this matter, she realized it had always been Ivy who was visiting her. Deep lines appeared between her brows, while Ivy couldn’t help but laugh.
"Oh, my God." Heaven snapped her eyes back to Ivy, speechless for a moment. "You’re right. I never visited you. Sorry."
"It’s fine," Ivy giggled and shook her head. "You’ve been busy taking care of Basti while carrying a child. On top of that, there’s Axel, who also needs equal attention. Don’t make me mention Dom. Then there’s this gig in the art department!"
"Wow..." Heaven threw her body on the soft couch. "I’m busy."
"You were," Ivy smiled while nodding her head. "Anyway, are you sure you don’t want anything else?"
"No, I’m good, thanks." Heaven waved dismissively. "How about you? Are you sure it’s fine if I stay here for a while?"
"Of course!"
"Don’t you have meetings or more important things to do?"
"Heaven, this is your first time visiting me in my place. Is there anything more important than that?"
Heaven looked Ivy dead in the eye and asked, "How did you become successful?"
"Haha. I’m kidding. I usually do important meetings early in the morning since my mind at that time is still fresh. It’s already afternoon, so I only need to check some papers and attend an online meeting. You can stay, but you have to be quiet while I’m in a meeting."
"Ah..." Heaven nodded in understanding before she grinned. "Perfect! I’ll stay here for a while then."
"Are you really that scared of your husband?"
The smile on Heaven’s face remained, but it took her a few seconds to answer. "Yes. Dom can be scary sometimes."
"Goodness." Ivy shook her head mildly while chuckling. "How cute."
"Anyway, didn’t you say you’re going to tell me something?" Heaven planted her hand on her thighs as she pushed herself up. She raised a finger a little, pointing it in a direction with her eyes fixed on Ivy. "You don’t mind if I explore your office, right?"
"No, I won’t," Ivy maintained a kind smile as she watched her friend walk away from her seat. She kept her eyes on Heaven’s figure as the latter approached the bookshelf in the corner. "As I was saying in the cafe, I... confessed to Tiger."
She bit her bottom lip as she cast her eyes down, blushing at last night’s memory. "Though we decided not to date, I can’t help but feel happy about it. Also, before I forget, Mr. Zhang came by my place last night. It feels a little satisfying to face him and tell him right to his face that I like another man now."
"Ahh..."
Ivy’s brows rose as she slowly shifted her eyes back to Heaven. This time, Heaven was checking the drawers, making Ivy tilt her head to the side.
"Heaven, are you listening?" she asked because Heaven was the biggest fan of gossip. It might not look like her, but Heaven loved gossip just as much as her co-workers in the art department. Therefore, it was only natural for her to react. Yet, Heaven wasn’t giving any big reaction.
"Heaven?" Ivy called again, and when Heaven didn’t cast her a look, she repeated. "Heaven."
"Yes?" This time, Heaven looked back at Ivy.
"Are you listening to me?"
"No."
Ivy frowned. "I said..."
"Hold that thought for a second." Heaven raised a finger and then slipped her hand underneath the drawer. After a second, she looked back at Ivy and smiled. "I’m just checking. This drawer looks cool, so I was looking for any hidden treasure or something."
"There’s no hidden treasure in here." Ivy let out a sigh, not thinking much about her friend’s curiosity. "Anyway, should I repeat what I’m saying?"
"Wait." Again, Heaven stopped her friend from telling her anything as she approached the floor-length glass. When she stood a step from it, she looked around the building that was surrounding Ivy’s company and then gazed down.
"You can talk now," she said as she folded her arms underneath her chest. However, she still didn’t look back at her friend.
Meanwhile, Ivy couldn’t help but frown. Even so, she continued as she thought Heaven was simply comparing her office to Dominic’s.
"As I was saying, I confessed to Tiger." This time, Ivy’s tone had a tinge of frustration, as she had repeated this sentence more than a couple of times now. "I told him I like him."
"What..." Heaven furrowed her brows as she slowly looked back at the woman sitting in the middle of the long couch. "... did you say?"
"I said I ended up confessing to Tiger."
"Oh, no, you don’t!"
