Chapter 698: Helping the drunk and getting the shock of his life

Meanwhile...

The booming noise of the nightclub didn’t faze Tiger, who sat quietly at the bar counter. The flashing lights landed on the side of his face, revealing his concentration on the glass he was swirling in his hand. Everyone in the club was having a good time, dancing until sweat covered their skin, yet the buoyant atmosphere couldn’t penetrate the solemnness around him.

"That fucking retard..." he hissed and scoffed. "He’s lucky I missed him."

For Hera, Tiger had purposefully missed Dragon that night during the memorable Lyon Group Anniversary. But to be honest, Tiger didn’t purposely miss that man. He wanted to kill him for everything the man had done. He wanted to settle scores with him once and for all. But alas, he missed.

In the organization, he was known as someone who never missed a target. Even with blindfolds, he could shoot someone based on the noises they made. He could even assassinate someone even if he was hundreds of kilometers away, as long as he knew the exact coordinates.

Compared to all of that, Dragon’s distance that night was very close. There was no way he would miss him three times, but he did.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" he breathed out, looking at his palm, which was slightly trembling. "I fucking hate him."

It had been months since that occurrence happened, but until now, Tiger couldn’t move on from it. How could he? That was the first time he missed his target. If only he hadn’t, then they wouldn’t have to worry about anything anymore. This had been weighing on his heart since then.

"He didn’t even dodge," he whispered to himself, clicking his tongue in irritation. "It’s as if he knows I’d missed."

Tiger, somehow, knew why. Dragon knew him, and because of that, he knew Tiger’s weakness. The man, infamous for his merciless and animalistic acts of violence in the underground, would never hurt his family. He would die and kill for them, but he would never raise a hand to them, especially Dragon and Hera, who were akin to his true siblings. The three of them were the closest, after all. Thus, even when he deeply wanted to kill Dragon, there was a moment of hesitation, which was no excuse for his ’failure.’

"This will be the last time I’d miss..." Tiger trailed off as he felt a vibration in his chest. He furrowed his brows and instinctively slipped his hand inside his suit pocket. His lips curved down as soon as he saw Ivy’s name on the screen.

"What does she want?" he wondered, answering the call, since it had been a while since Ivy had contacted him. "Hey, what now?"

"Hic! Hi!"

Tiger creased his brows even more. "Are you drunk?"

"Hehe. A bit?" Ivy chuckled as she covered her other ear to muffle the noise around her. But even when she did, the loud noise from the other end of the line was heard. "Where are you?"

"In a nightclub, drinking."

"Where?"

"Why?"

"I’m also in a nightclub. It’s called Paker’s Den! Are you here?" Ivy instinctively looked around to see if he was around. But because of the crowd and the flashing lights in the establishment, it was impossible to find him even if she was sober.

"I’m not in there." Tiger rolled his eyes. "What do you want?"

"I want to go home!"

"Miss Wei, do you understand that this man isn’t on your paycheck?" He said, a little annoyed she was starting to treat him like her driver once again. It was fine on normal days since she would treat him to drinks, but Tiger had had a lot on his plate recently.

With Dragon’s reappearance in everyone’s lives, Tiger didn’t want to idle. He had been busy practicing his marksmanship and even concocting plans for future events. He didn’t want Dragon to take him off guard once again and, thus, he had no time to play with her.

"If you want to go home, get a cab. I’m not your servant who will tend to you 24/7. I’m hanging up. Bye." Tiger clicked his tongue as he pulled his phone from his ear. His thumb hovered over the red button before he huffed, placing the phone back to his ear.

"Stay where you are. Damn it!"

After saying his piece, he ended the call and took out his wallet to pay for his drinks. He stomped his way out of the nightclub, both annoyed at Ivy and at himself.

"Thank you." Ivy smiled from ear to ear, her eyes drooping as she hiccupped every once in a while. She lay on her side as the front passenger seat was reclined all the way back while her seatbelt stretched to secure her.

Tiger, in the driver’s seat, simply cast her a side-eye. He shook his head, recalling how he had found her in the corner of the bar, throwing up on the floor.

"What a mess," he grumbled, eyes on the road, hands on the steering wheel. "Miss Wei, didn’t you say you already moved on? The last time, I understood because you were brokenhearted. But now, I think this is slowly becoming an addiction."

Ivy chuckled at his mild scolding, earning a quick look from him.

"Geez." He clicked his tongue once again, setting his focus on the road. He cast another glance at her, only to see her closing her eyes with her lips still curled up. "What a piece of work."

Tiger had no responsibility or obligation to fetch her after she had a night out. However, it would weigh on his conscience if something bad happened to her because he didn’t help her.

"Miss Wei, I know we’re more than strangers, but it’s not proper for you to call me in the middle of the night to drive you home. You know I have a job during the day and need some time for myself—"

"I like you."

Tiger almost bit his tongue when she spoke quietly yet clearly. He blinked a couple of times, eyes still on the road.

What did she just say?
