Chapter 695: Dreams

"Take her. The second phase of my plan will now commence."

With that said, the men standing behind Dragon marched in Hera’s direction. The new Hera felt her heart sink as she took another step back. Her entire soul told her to run, but when she looked back, there was only a window for her to escape through.

"No," she breathed out, only to catch someone approaching her from the corner of her eye. "No, don’t touch me —"

Before the new Hera could finish her sentence, her body moved on its own. She grabbed the man’s arm and somersaulted, twisting the man’s hand. When her feet landed on the floor, her other foot settled on the man’s back.

"Ugh!"

’What... just happened?’ Despite defending herself, the new Hera was just as surprised and confused. She had never fought someone in her life, but her body just moved on its own, acting on muscle memory.

When she looked up, she caught the wariness of those men approaching her. They stopped for a moment, but after a few seconds, they rushed to seize her. Meanwhile, Dragon stood in the same spot, watching her take down his men, one after another.

"Not as amazing as I remember it, but not bad for someone who had been comatose for years," he mused as he slowly slipped his hand inside his suit, only to take out a syringe. Unbothered by the noises of the fight, he raised the syringe and removed its cap. He flicked it with his fingers mildly before snapping his eyes at her.

The moment his eyes landed on her, Hera had already taken down everyone. He carefully clasped the syringe and trudged in her direction coolly.

’Great! It seems I can fight — this body can!’ the new Hera found a little confidence as she anticipated Dragon. Although she was just as surprised, she relied on this body to protect her. Considering Hera could stop her own assassination in the middle of her sleep, she knew she had a chance to escape this place.

She took a deep breath when Dragon stepped into her vicinity. Without thinking, and just letting this body move on its own, she repelled him by doing a roundhouse kick. Dragon blocked it with the back of his arm, and the two of them stared at each other.

The new Hera clenched her teeth as she unhesitatingly jumped to launch another kick. She threw punches and kicks simultaneously, but Dragon would either dodge or block them. He didn’t even try to strike her. After a full minute, Dragon finally made his move, and before she could even grasp what had happened, his arm was wrapped around her body with her back pressed against him.

"Darling." Dragon lowered his head until his chin was resting on her shoulder. His thumb was pressed hard on the syringe that was injected into her right thigh. "Since when did you start fighting so mindlessly? It’s amusingly pathetic."

His eyes slid to the corner while his lips curled up. "Nonetheless, I’m glad you’re okay."

Hera felt her body grow limp as her vision shook. She could feel her body grow heavy as her strength slowly slipped away from her hands. Using every bit of her fading consciousness, she turned her head to face him, only to see the devious smirk plastered on his face. It scared her to the bones.

"I..." she whispered, realizing that even if this body could fight, it would still be different if Hera was in it. "... am not... he..."

The new Hera didn’t know if she had relayed the message as she fell unconscious. Dragon carried all her weight, looking at her unconscious face. A subtle smile turned up on his face, pulling out the syringe and then tossing it to the side.

"How amusing," he mused as he carried her in his arms. "Those who can get up passed the test. For those who can’t, drag them away."

Dragon glanced at the men on the floor. Some of them grunted as they forced themselves to pick themselves up. The rest were still unconscious. This outcome was to be expected since they were simply a new addition to the family, and he thought seizing Hera would be a good last test for them. The only surprising thing about it was that no one died.

The test he thought of was very simple. If they were alive after meeting Hera, then they were worthy to be in his organization. In this case, those who didn’t fall unconscious passed the test. Thinking about it, Dragon quite regretted it.

"Just what made me think you’d be at your best?" he smiled as he gazed down at the woman in his arms. "Very well. At least, I get to see you fight... even though it’s quite hilarious."

Dragon let out a chuckle as he found her cute while fighting. It was as though she didn’t even know how to. Very different from the Hera he knew, but considering all the medicine in her system, it shouldn’t be surprising.

"Call everyone and tell them we’ll proceed to the next step," he announced as he made his way out of the room, a little excited once this was all over. A glint flickered across his eyes, treading carefully so as not to aggravate her body anymore.

As he walked through the wide hallway of this castle-like mansion, he gazed down at her once again. His subtle smile remained as his eyes softened with deep affection. It was amusing how she looked just as fierce even when she was unconscious.

"Just for another day," he whispered as he lifted his chin up, and his smile slowly stretched until his eyes were squinting. "We’ll be able to achieve our dream."

Once they successfully erased her memories, they would be able to start on a clean slate. Although it was a shame she might not remember how to fight, he had to do what needed to be done. For her to achieve her lifelong dream, she had to forget many things, including who she was. And for him to achieve her, she didn’t need to remember who he truly was.
