Chapter 688: I think a little

"I think he likes you."

Heaven’s face twitched uncontrollably at Ivy’s remarks. She could feel a shiver down her spine, having another urge to throw up. This was getting out of control. At this point, Heaven would take the rumors of her marrying a rich and old man rather than being mistaken as Tiger’s lover.

"Haha." Heaven could only laugh, as this was so ridiculous! "Hahaha!"

Ivy frowned as Heaven’s laughter grew louder. "What? You’re scaring me."

"Ivy Wei." Heaven took a step forward while Ivy instinctively stepped back. She kept closing their distance until Ivy’s back was against the wall.

Ivy gulped when Heaven slammed her palm against the wall near her head. Heaven’s expression was sharp, and she emitted this intimidating air around her.

"Ivy Wei, let me tell you one thing, me and Tiger?" Heaven scoffed. "I’d rather die."

"You didn’t have to say it like that," Ivy murmured as she felt like shrinking under Heaven’s gaze. "I’m just saying what I saw."

"No, you saw nothing." Heaven shook her head. "Or wrong. Ask the man himself. He’d throw you off the cliff if you say that to him. I’m glad we’re friends."

Ivy frowned, assessing the look on Heaven’s face. When the latter pushed herself away from her, Heaven shook her head mildly.

"Stop putting me and that guy together," Heaven remarked in dismay. "I can assure you he doesn’t like me — at least, not in that way."

Ivy pressed her lips into a thin line. "I’m sorry."

"Just don’t say it again." Heaven waved dismissively as she resumed her steps to go back to the art department. "It’s really inappropriate. Moreover, I don’t think he is so dumb to think he even has the chance against Dom."

"To be fair, Dom isn’t that —" Ivy bit her tongue as Heaven glared at her. "Okay. I’m sorry."

With that being said, Heaven and Ivy walked through the hallway quietly. Ivy picked up her pace until she was walking beside her friend again.

"Also —"

"If this has anything to do with me or Tiger, I’m leaving you alone," Heaven cut her off even before Ivy could say another word.

"No, I mean..." Ivy bit her lip out of habit, assessing Heaven’s side profile. "Can you give me your insight about something?"

"What’s it about?"

"I don’t know, to be honest." Ivy cast her eyes down and sighed. "Remember that I already settled matters with Mr. Zhang? I confessed to him during the night of the Lyon Group’s anniversary and, as expected, he refused me again."

"What about it?"

"I’m still in the process of moving on. I admit I still like him a little, but perhaps seeing him run while screaming that night somehow helped. It turned me off a little," she chuckled bitterly.

"Just a little?"

"Well, it was off-putting. But somehow, I feel weird."

Heaven arched a brow as she cast Ivy a side-eye. "Why?"

"I’ve been doing blind dates and giving my suitors a chance to prove themselves as good partners, but... there’s this one guy that’s been bothering my mind," she confessed, treading carefully to buy herself some time. "For sure, I don’t like him. At least, not in that way. He’s good, though. He’s quite handsome, and tall, and he definitely has a good physique. He’s very manly."

Ivy cast Heaven a conflicted look. "I didn’t think much about it, but when I thought he was seeing someone else, I couldn’t help but think about it."

"Huh?"

"I mean, I kept thinking about him. He might be a little different from the men I’ve met in the past, but there’s this unpleasant feeling at the thought he’s seeing someone." It had been a day since Ivy saw Tiger and Heaven together. Since then, there wasn’t a second she didn’t think of that look in Tiger’s eyes while talking about Heaven.

Heaven might not know what she was talking about, but Ivy was certain she saw what she saw. And no matter how Ivy rationalized it or deluded herself that she was happy for Tiger, she knew she was more confused and disheartened.

"We’ve been friends, so I was wondering if I’m feeling this way because I subconsciously believe he might not have time for me anymore. He’s the only guy friend I can bother in the middle of the night, you know?"

"Hang on." Heaven squinted her eyes as she assessed that conflicted look on her friend. "This guy you’re talking about... this isn’t Tiger, right?"

Ivy slid her eyes to the corner. "No?"

"Ivy Wei!" Heaven suddenly leaped as she grabbed Ivy’s shoulders, shaking her mildly. "No!"

Ivy flinched at Heaven’s sudden aggression, brows raised. "Huh?"

"What is wrong with you?" Heaven gasped while shaking her head. "First, Dane Zhang! And now, this guy? Seriously! You’re pretty, intelligent, successful. Why do you keep falling for guys like them?! Dane Zhang, Tiger, they’re like walking red flags!"

"I’m not in love with Tiger. I’m just... just attached."

"Oh, my goodness." Heaven scoffed as she released Ivy’s shoulders, covering her mouth, almost at the brink of weeping for her friend. "I’ll arrange an appointment with the ophthalmologist and maybe a psychiatrist."

Ivy frowned. "That’s harsh. I don’t like Tiger. It’s just he’d been a good friend to me, that’s all."

"Ivy, I’ll give you a list of why you shouldn’t like the guy." Heaven let out a huff, looking at her friend with equal dismay and pity. "First, he doesn’t take showers. The guy has a hygiene problem, and don’t give me that nonsense that you think you can change him. You won’t."

"Heaven, it’s not like that."

"We’ve been friends, dear. Do you really think I won’t know your feelings just by looking at you?" Heaven clicked her tongue in irritation.

"Well... maybe? I liked him a little, considering he always takes care of me and that he’s strong. I’m sure he can protect me." Ivy lowered her eyes as she was forced to admit her feelings. "But I told myself I want to focus on myself first. So even if I liked him, I didn’t want to chase another guy and waste another few years of my life. But when I thought he was seeing someone, I couldn’t help but think if I was doing the right thing."

She slowly lifted her eyes as a thin layer of tears coated her eyes. "What should I do?"
