Chapter 677: Covered in luxury

Chapter 677: Covered in luxury

After that disastrous anniversary event, Heaven had reconsidered her employment in the art department. She had gotten in by accident, or rather, through a misunderstanding. Therefore, there wasn’t really anything that should be tying her to stay.

Considering Dragon was already in the picture, it was only natural if Heaven sent her resignation letter. However, they planned to make preparations without anyone noticing. If she stopped working, things could be problematic. Not to mention, staying with her children all day long might just put the children in danger.

Heaven was the bait this time. Dragon knew her, and thus, he might seek her one of these days. The best course of action was for them to pretend they were all back in their normal lives. Not that she hated working in the art department. In fact, she liked working in this place more than her acting gigs.

"Delivery for Ms. Pepsi?"

Everyone in the art department stopped working at the voice at the entrance of the department. All of them instinctively furrowed their brows, catching a few boxes beside the two delivery guys.

"Pepsi is not here. She went to run some errand." A man near the entrance turned his swivel chair, telling the delivery guys the recipient wasn’t there. His eyes then fell to the boxes beside the delivery guys, furrowing his brows in curiosity.

When the man raised his head, he caught Heaven coming back. "Oh, there she is!"

The delivery guys turned their heads on instinct, seeing a beautiful lady approaching.

"Heaven Liu?" one of the delivery guys blurted out, starstruck to see a celebrity in person.

"Yes — no." Heaven bit her tongue, clearing her throat as she stopped two steps from the two men. "People always mistake me for her, but I’m not. What is it?"

"Really?" the other delivery guy blurted out with slight doubt, only to get elbowed by his colleague. "I mean, are you Miss Pepsi?"

"Yes?"

"Please sign here." The delivery guy offered her a paper which she accepted on instinct.

"A delivery? I don’t remember ordering anything." Heaven glanced at the boxes beside the two delivery guys, face twitching upon guessing what this was. ’Gosh. He should’ve said he would treat everyone to lunch instead of just sending me lunch.’

Heaven shook her head as she signed the papers, instructing the guys to carry the boxes to the pantry. When they finished, she handed back the paper with a smile.

"Thank you," she expressed with a kind tone, leaving the two delivery guys in a daze.

Was this really not Heaven Liu? She looked just like her. They were like identical twins! Or maybe this woman named Pepsi looked even more pretty than Heaven Liu.

’Dang it! Now, I even have to consider who will deliver things to me?!’ Despite her kind smile, Heaven was breathing fire in her head. It took her some time for everyone in the company to stop mentioning her resemblance to Heaven Liu. If not for the anniversary incident, they wouldn’t stop talking about it. That was probably one of the few good things that happened after that.

"Hey, guys! There’s a free lunch! You just take your food over there!" Heaven clapped as she turned around, ignoring the delivery guys, who hadn’t left just to stare at her in a daze. "Don’t be shy, alright?!"

Her smile stretched from ear to ear despite the awkward looks everyone was giving her. She cleared her throat and turned on her heel, marching to her desk to get some work done. As she sat down, she peeked over her monitor to see that some were glancing at the food in the pantry while others were whispering to themselves.

’I thought it was nothing, but something was definitely wrong.’ A deep frown dominated her face. She squinted her eyes, scanning everyone who avoided her gaze. ’I smell bullshit.’

Normally, Heaven wouldn’t care about what other people think about her. Not that she still cared... or perhaps, a bit. She cared about their thoughts because she had a ’reputation’ to protect.

The strange atmosphere continued throughout the day. Although most of her colleagues in the department thanked her for the free lunch, or still talked to her, Heaven knew something was wrong. She didn’t force or interrogate them, though. It was obvious none of them wanted to tell her, or rather, they didn’t have the heart to say it. Therefore, Heaven let it pass, thinking whatever this was would also pass.

She was wrong.

One week later, the strange atmosphere still lingered in the art department. At this point, Heaven was already pissed.

"So!" Mr. Yang, who was talking loudly in the middle of the art department, paused. Everyone in the art department was also standing like soldiers. He glanced to his side and somehow, Heaven was standing nearby.

He couldn’t help but scan Heaven from head to toe. ’From head to toe, covered with luxury items... are those real diamonds?’ he wondered, catching the ring around her finger, which seemed to be a new one.

Back then, Heaven wasn’t wearing any rings, even though she claimed to be married. Her excuse back then was that her ring couldn’t fit her anymore. But now, how those stone sparks were truly mesmerizing.

As Mr. Yang stopped talking in the middle of scolding them just to study her, Heaven’s expression died. She glanced at everyone, and they were also doing the same. It was as if there was something in her that they were thinking about.

Heaven closed her eyes and took a deep breath. This has to stop. But just when she opened her mouth to confront everyone, a knock from the entrance of the department stopped her. Everyone inside instinctively turned their heads to see who was disrupting their morning, only to see a few people with a very important man standing in the middle.

"CEO Zhu!" Mr. Yang snapped out of his trance at the sight of Axel. He rushed to the entrance, where Axel stood with his assistant. "CEO Zhu, what are you —"

"You, over there." Axel cut off Mr. Yang mid-sentence as he pointed a finger in Heaven’s direction. He crooked his finger, gesturing for her to come close. "I need to talk to you."

Huh?

A giant question mark hovered over everyone’s head as they shifted their attention to Heaven. They furrowed their brows, watching Heaven point at herself.

"Me?" she asked and Axel nodded.

"Yes, you. Come to the CEO’s office." Axel slowly turned on his heel and walked away, leaving everyone wondering what the CEO wanted from an errand girl in the art department.
