Chapter 674: Oh, fascinating.
Chapter 674: Oh, fascinating.
[Secret Facility]
Dragon stood outside the door with his arms crossed, his gaze fixed on the transparent window through which he could see the patient inside.
"What’s wrong with her?" He asked, his eyes still on the patient, who was staring out the window at the beautiful scenery. "It’s been a week since she regained consciousness."
His sour expression revealed his displeasure over the past week. After all, the patient inside would either become aggressive like a madman or remain silent while staring blankly into nothingness.
"We’re still conducting tests to find out the source of her actions," said the doctor apologetically, casting a wary look at the man. "But according to our previous findings, this is probably more of a mental problem."
Dragon slowly turned his head toward the doctor, making the latter lower his head.
"I’m just stating the results we got from the previous tests, sir. But we’re still doing our best to get better results to understand the patient’s condition." The doctor cleared his throat as he looked up. "The patient went through a lot, considering the amount of lethal poisons in her system when she got here. It’s already a miracle she woke up after many years."
Dragon continued to stare at him with a plain expression and didn’t say anything as he unfolded his arms. "If I were you, I’d stop running your mouth and find a way to fix her. I’m in a rush to push through the second phase."
With that being said, Dragon turned the knob and entered the ward, leaving the head doctor who was looking after the patient inside. The doctor sighed as he watched him leave, casting a glance at the other doctors standing not far away.
Meanwhile, Dragon slowly sat down on the edge of the bed. The woman was reclining on the bed, her head turned toward the window, her expression blank with barely a spark of life.
"Hera," he called gently, his tone completely different from the tone he used with the doctor.
A deep exhale slipped past his nostrils as Hera didn’t answer. She didn’t even move, despite his presence in the room.
"Are you rebelling?" he asked, glancing at the IV on the side of the bed. One look and he immediately recognized that she was being sedated, but the dose wasn’t enough to make her unconscious. No wonder she was calmer than she had been a few days ago.
"The doctor will find more ways to fix you, so don’t worry," he said as he pinched the bridge of his nose before he returned his attention to her. He forced a smile, reached for her hand, and squeezed it gently. "Everything will be fine, dear."
His thumb caressed her knuckles, which were all embossed due to her weight. Dragon maintained the subtle smile, caressing her cheek with the back of his hand.
"Don’t worry anymore," he said soothingly. "I made your dream come true, Hera. You are now out of that chaotic world with a man who will take care of you."
Dragon nodded reassuringly, hoping she was listening, despite the fact that she wasn’t reacting to his words. "Once everything is cleared, I’ll take the next step and take away all your pain and misery. You won’t even remember a single bad thing. We can start on a clean slate, and we’ll make memories that will only make you happy."
"So rest and be at ease. Even though you are someone who doesn’t uphold promises, I will keep mine." He lowered his hand from her cheek, still holding her hand securely. "I’ll make you the happiest, Hera."
Dragon slowly guided her hand to his lips, planting a soft and long kiss on her knuckles. He smiled in satisfaction as he lifted his eyes to her, patting her hand gently, as if that would give her the comfort she needed.
Even though Hera had been acting strangely since regaining consciousness, he was glad she had finally woken up. It was better to talk to her with her eyes open than when she was just lying on the bed, relying on life support.
"There are so many things I want to tell you, but I’ll say them all next time," he said, stopping mid-sentence as a knock from outside caught his attention.
Dragon raised his eyebrows as he glanced at the door, only to see a beautiful brunette step inside.
"I got the information you needed," said the woman as she sauntered toward where Dragon sat. When she stopped a step from him, she glanced at Hera and then back to Dragon. "It’s weird to be in the same room as her, but here’s the information I got from the name you asked."
Dragon chuckled as he received the folder the woman handed to him. "Everyone who came here said the same thing, which makes me wonder why?"
"Don’t play dumb, you know why," the brunette crossed her arms under her chest, her eyes on Hera, who was still unresponsive. "This one is one crazy person. No one in their right mind would mess with her. You wouldn’t be alive this long if she woke up in a proper state of mind."
Dragon simply chuckled as he opened the folder, telling himself that commenting on the woman’s claims was a waste of time. He didn’t need to prove her guess was incorrect, because if Hera woke up in the right state of mind, she would have lost all her memories the next day.
"Anyway, mind telling me why you suddenly asked for this kind of information?" The woman snapped her eyes to Dragon as he took out the documents from the folder. "She’s quite the catch. Don’t tell me you want to keep her as a mistress? This woman right here will not appreciate that."
"You should leave, Deb," he replied without looking at her, smiling the moment he saw the photo in the background check he had requested not long ago. "Oh, look at her. She knows that I’d dislike it if she lied to me, but she still did. Fascinating — how I believed her name is Pepsi."
A glint of interest flickered across Dragon’s eyes as he stared at Heaven’s picture attached to the pages of papers that contained all the information about her.
