Chapter 673: My bad

"I do, but you might find this less logical — something more out of the box. What if the body Primo saw was actually my body?"

Everyone fell silent after Heaven’s question. They had already considered that possibility, but they leaned more toward the idea that Dragon had exhumed her body to create confusion. It was easier for them to believe this, especially considering that Bear and Tiger had rarely left her grave after her burial.

"I know it’s crazy, but at this point, I’ve learned to think ridiculously. How can I not? I’m someone who is inside another person’s body," she shrugged. "You guys have a point, but for me, it’s easier to think that Dragon might’ve found a way to preserve me, even if I’m buried underground."

Heaven leaned back slightly and rested one leg over the other. "According to Primo, he saw my body in a secret facility. The only thing that caught his interest was that she was surrounded by a group of doctors and a man, whom we can all assume was Frank."

"My point here is that Frank is the one who killed me," she continued, stressing each word to make a point. "I won’t be surprised if he planned this from the beginning. Kill me and then bring me back to life, and then... maybe own me? He won’t have any rivals since you all know I’m dead."

"Are you suggesting that the facility where you spent your last days colluded with him?" Bear inquired with furrowed brows. "That’s impossible. That place is yours, and everyone in there is your people."

"People’s hearts are fickle, Bear. You know that."

Everyone’s faces turned sour at the thought. But none of them argued with her. Heaven was stating facts. Regardless of what they believed, they couldn’t simply rule out the fact that there were already cracks in their organization even before she died. The news of her condition had a huge impact on all of them.

"Do you think they’ve already turned their back on us while she’s still alive?" Princess’s face darkened at the thought.

"I wouldn’t know, since I wasn’t there, but from my years of experience, probably," said Wolf, nodding his head in understanding. "A leader of any group can be the source of people’s strength and courage or weakness. It’s the reason many leaders across the globe in any field keep their medical condition confidential."

Tiger’s jaw clenched, but he didn’t dwell on it. "So what?" he asked, snapping his eyes at everyone. "So what if they turn their back on us? I mean, let’s say that’s what happened. Dragon plotted for your death, preserved you, and somehow revived you — does it really matter? You are here, Hera."

"I haven’t had the time to share this with you, aside from Bear and my husband, but when I woke up in this body, I also gained the original Heaven’s memories and skills," Heaven remarked, arching a brow as she watched their reactions. "I’m just worried that another person’s soul is inside that body."

"Are you saying you probably switched bodies with Heaven Liu?" Joker furrowed his brows as he leaned back from the swivel chair.

"That conclusion worries me just a little, but it makes sense to me. I died and my soul parted from it. When Heaven was murdered, I was able to get inside this body. When one is dead, their soul shouldn’t be around, but somewhere else. However, if my body is still alive somewhere, that only explains why I was able to wander for years and meet Heaven Liu," she explained, not sure if they were following her. "That also explains why my body is still alive, despite my soul occupying another one. It could be because another soul is sustaining its life force, and..."

"This is so messed up," Joker commented as he listened to Heaven talk on and on as if she were some sort of delusional person believing in such things. However, they couldn’t really consider her mad because what she was saying was true.

"The bottom line is?" Dominic arched a brow. "Whoever is in that body has the possibility of obtaining all the knowledge and skills you honed all your life?"

"Yes," Heaven nodded.

"Let’s not jump to conclusions yet," Dominic cleared his throat, pausing for a moment to rearrange his thoughts. "If we’re thinking half realistically and not, there’s a high probability that the original Heaven Liu is in that body."

Heaven rocked her head as she hummed, "Uh, huh."

"Can we safely say she won’t harm us?"

Heaven blinked at Dominic, only for the latter to raise his brows at the look she was giving him. He then glanced at everyone who was looking at him the same way.

"The only thing that worries me if Heaven Liu is inside my body is that she might say something very stupid, or she might go crazy," she remarked in a knowing tone. "Heaven Liu might not survive living in my head, Dom. She can’t even survive her own demons or win against the pathetic Andrea Ng. Unless, of course, she sees the value of life."

Hearing her answer, Dominic opened his mouth while nodding in understanding. That was true. If someone lived underground their whole life like Hera, their memories would likely be quite disturbing for an average person.

"Let’s not focus on that, though," Heaven sighed after a moment of thinking. "Let’s not think if that is my body or just an impostor or how Dragon facilitated such a meticulous scheme."

She turned her head to Dominic and said, "Kill Primo."

"Sure."

"No, not like that." She shook her head, remembering her husband rarely questioned her. "The public needs to know he’s dead. Make it appear as believable as possible."

"Ah, sure." Dominic nodded without creating a huge fuss, and they looked at everyone.

"For now, we’ll live the way we used to, all the while making preparations in case Dragon shows up. Wolf and Joker will locate the secret facility where Primo saw Hera. Fig, I’ll give you a list of some Reapers and visit them; don’t take no for an answer. The rest will have to stay behind." Heaven slowly leaned forward and rested her arms on her spread legs. "We don’t have answers yet, but what I’m sure of is Dragon will visit me one of these days. I made an impression, my bad."
