Chapter 632: [Bonus Chapter] Silas’s luck hadn’t run out
[Emergency Staircase]
The sound of gunshots resonated in the emergency staircase as both Silas and Dominic fought each other. When Ivy kicked Silas’s knee, he nearly fell down the staircase. But thanks to his fast reflexes, he was able to cling onto the railing to get his balance back.
Silas didn’t have enough time to come after Ivy, though. Dominic already opened fire after a long pause upon hearing Ivy’s parting remarks. Which explained the chase that was going on right now on the emergency staircase.
"Shit!" Silas slumped on the stair landing, teeth clenched, hand on his bleeding leg. He only had a graze initially, but now he was clearly shot in it as the bullet bounced.
BANG BANG BANG!
"Damn it!" he cursed through his gritted teeth, taking off his tie to wrap it around his leg. "That damn bastard. How can he be so lucky?"
Silas was shot because the bullet bounced. Thus, he didn’t anticipate it and got shot. Meanwhile, Dominic seemed to be doing okay. After all, the man would constantly shoot through the railings while running after him.
"Argh!" Silas let out a loud grunt as he gazed at his bloody thigh. ’I can’t stay here.’
If Silas stopped longer, Dominic would soon reach him. He could hear the loud and hurried footsteps a few levels below him. He panted for air, gazing at the door and then at the staircase. Right now, he has two options. The first one was to take the door and use the main route or continue in making his way up the emergency stairs. The same option Ivy thought previously.
"Fuck it!" Silas breathed out as he clung to the wall to get up. Blood smeared on the wall as he did, limping toward the door. Unlike Ivy, he didn’t have any fear of meeting enemies on the way. His men would surely keep Dominic’s men preoccupied.
Just as Silas opened the door, he immediately caught a person not far away from the hallway out of this staircase. Butler Fu and Bear.
’What fucking luck!’ he cursed in his mind, shutting the door close and immediately scratching the idea. Instead, he continued to limp up the stairs as he had no other choice.
Thanks to his adrenaline and determination to escape and survive, the pain in his thigh was bearable. Or rather, it was painful to feel the bullet in his thigh go deeper into his flesh. However, this wouldn’t stop him. Silas channeled all his weight to his other foot, jumping through the stairs, and buying himself some time by shooting Dominic aimlessly.
Dominic would also fire back, but Silas was quick to hide.
"Damn it!" Silas cursed once again, breaking out in cold sweats as his adrenaline started to dwindle. His vision shook and blurred, hands on the wall. ’I’m losing too much blood. I can’t... die like this.’
He shook his head and snapped his eyes. He did his best to ignore his worsening condition, keeping his focus on the stairs ahead while habitually shooting through the railing. This time, however, he wouldn’t peek through the railing to see if Dominic was looking up. He would just slip his rifle through the metal railings and open fire.
BANG BANG BANG!

BANG BANG BANG!
Dominic leaned against the wall, knees bent as Silas’s random shooting hit the metal railing. Therefore, some bullets would bounce in his direction. Fortunately, nothing hit him just yet. But he was afraid his luck would run out soon.
He picked up his pace until he was on the stair landing. Dominic never stopped, even when Silas got Ivy as his hostage. Although he slowed down. But now, he paused for a moment as his eyes fell on the blood on the steps and then a smudge of blood on the wall.
"He’s injured." His eyes lit up, knowing Silas was now at a disadvantage. "No wonder he was —"
BANG BANG BANG!
Another round of bullets was fired, but this time, they hit the level above where Dominic was at. The latter didn’t need to hide to save himself.
’He’s just wasting his ammo.’Dominic instinctively checked his pistol to see if he still got enough bullets. According to his wife, he should be aware of how many times he fired to know when to reload timely. But alas, Dominic lost count.
He was new to this and thus inexperienced.
Seeing that there were still plenty of bullets, Dominic nodded to himself. This was still enough, and it would be a waste to reload. With that thought in mind, Dominic continued his way up to where Silas was going.
The Rooftop.
As Dominic jogged through the stairs, he stopped and instinctively held his rifle securely at the door. The door suddenly flew open a few steps before he could reach the emergency door. Deep lines appeared between his brows as his tensed shoulders relaxed despite the two rifles aiming back at him.
"Butler Fu? Mr. Cruel?" he called, darting his eyes between the two old men while lowering his rifle. The other two also lowered their weapons upon recognizing Dominic.
"Young Master, are you alright?" Butler Fu was the first to speak, assessing Dominic from head to toe.
"What are you doing here?" Bear’s concern was different, though. "Didn’t you chase after Silas?"
"Yes, I did. That’s the reason I’m here." Dominic tipped his head to the stairs, making the two shift their eyes to the stairs going up. They immediately saw the line of smudged blood on the wall before setting their attention back to Dominic, understanding the situation.
"I should be the one asking. What are you doing two doing here?" Dominic asked. "Where’s Grandma?"
"We saw someone in here, but didn’t know who it was," Butler Fu answered. "We’re still looking for her and are already on our way to the rooftop."
BANG BANG BANG!
Just as Butler Fu finished his sentence, another shot was fired. It didn’t hit the floor they were on, though. Still, the three of them gazed up.
"Then I guess we should go together," Dominic muttered, and with that being said, the three of them didn’t waste another second idling. Instead, they immediately jogged up the stairs to go to the rooftop.
Little did they know Silas’s luck hadn’t run out.
When Silas reached a level before the rooftop, he stopped. He slowly gazed up and the life in his eyes returned upon catching Grandma Zhu sitting on the stair landing. Grandma Zhu also looked down, and she held her breath at the wicked grin that turned up on Silas’s face.
Oh, dear.
