Chapter 631: [Bonus Chapter] The screamos

"Ah!"

Ivy screamed at the sight of a dead man in the elevator. She instinctively covered her mouth, pressing a button to make the lift close once again. Her eyes brimmed with tears as she picked up the courage to run away.

Ever since Ivy escaped Silas’s clutches, she never stopped running anywhere she could. Fortunately, she hadn’t met with enemies yet. However, she did see a dead body inside the lift. That wasn’t enough to stop her, though.

"In here!"

BANG BANG BANG!

As Ivy ran through the hallway, she heard some screams and gunshots just around the area. She covered her ears and slid down to the drawer resting on the side of the corridor to hide. Her already short yet deep breaths were growing shorter with every passing second.

Right now, she was in the middle of the battlefield.

It would take a significant amount of luck for her to get out of this place unnoticed. Especially now that it seemed some of the enemies had reached this floor. Weren’t they on the ground floor? Why were they on this floor, which was several floors above the event hall?

"Oh, god..." she whispered, mustering her courage to peek over the side of the drawer she was hiding in. The moment she did, she caught some men running by the end of the hallway. Ivy immediately hid once again, frozen on the spot, praying they wouldn’t come in this direction.

BANG BANG BANG!

She flinched and covered her ears once again as the rounds of shots sounded closer this time. Her eyes were closed, unable to move away from this pathetic hiding place. When Ivy mustered the courage to open her eyes, she looked around and ahead without any plans of checking if there were people coming from the other side.

"I should... get in," she breathed out, almost out of breath, as her eyes lingered on the door nearby.

This event’s place wasn’t just for events, but it was designed with lounges and rooms like hotels to cater company’s guests to have a place to rest. Therefore, there were rooms on each floor for the sake of that. She didn’t think about that earlier, but perhaps this was what Joker meant when he said she should find a different place to hide.

Hiding in a room would be much better than hiding in the control room.

’They wouldn’t get in here, right?’ she wondered to herself, only to shake her head to get rid of that thought. ’It doesn’t matter. Hiding in a room is much better than hiding in plain sight.’

Ivy clutched her chest as she took several deep breaths. She shut her eyes when she heard another round of fire and reopened them when the seemingly endless noise stopped. This time, she huffed as she bravely looked back to check. She saw some people running to the end of the hallway and when she was certain they weren’t taking this turn, she picked herself up.

With clenched teeth and a steel heart, she rushed to the door nearby without looking back if someone saw her. Looking back only meant more fear in her heart. When she reached the door, she immediately held onto the knob and twisted it.

"Ahhhh!!!!"

Just before Ivy could open the door, she stopped. She instinctively turned her head to the person screaming, only for her pupils to dilate. There, by the end of the hallway, was Dane Zhang screaming his lungs out — she could even see his tonsils wiggling.

"Mr. Zhang?" she called under her breath, brows furrowed.

BANG BANG BANG!

Ivy flinched and ducked a little, but she still had her face facing Dane’s direction. There was someone running behind Dane, and because Tiger was a bit taller than Dane, she immediately recognized him.

"What are they doing here?" she wondered, confused about how these two were on this floor and running in this direction. Running in this direction... where she was.

All the confusion in her head suddenly disappeared as her mouth fell open. Were they the ones the enemies came after? If so, then that means the enemies would come in here soon enough.

"No!" Ivy yelled under her breath as she pushed the door open, jumping inside and slamming it close. However, before she could even lock it just to not share the same curse the two were carrying, the door suddenly flew open.

"Ah!" she screamed as she jumped away in surprise. Now Ivy and Dane were screaming together.

"Ahh!"

"Ahhh!"

"Ahhh —"

"Shut up! Goddamit!" Tiger smacked the back of Dane’s head, making the latter accidentally bite his tongue. Dane opened his mouth out of pain, covering it with his hand.

Ivy, on the other hand, also stopped when she heard Tiger’s annoyed voice. She darted her shaking eyes between the two, biting her bottom lips while holding her breath.

"Shit." Tiger shoved his pinky inside his ears, scratching it up and down. "I thought I broke my eardrums. How can you scream nonstop? That’s a weird talent, I tell you!"

"What are you two doing here?" Ivy’s shaky voice earned Tiger’s attention while Dane was still tending to his aching tongue.

"We’re running. And how can you just leave us out there to save yourself?" Tiger scrunched up his nose in dismay. "I saw you, Miss Wei. And if we’re a little slower, I’m very sure you’re going to lock this door."

"Can you blame me?" She gasped. "They were chasing after you guys! I’m not stupid!"

Tiger frowned, but after a quick consideration, she had a point. Why would she put herself in a dangerous situation when she didn’t even have the skills to save herself?

"Ugh... ouch." Dane could barely close his mouth as his tongue numbed, glaring daggers at Tiger. "How dare you!"

"Keep it down, will you?" Tiger clicked his tongue, more annoyed at Dane’s nonstop screaming than the endless fires shot tonight. Dane’s screaming was more annoying; it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say his scream was even much louder than the gunshots. Ivy could vouch for that.

"This way!"

"Shhh!" Tiger leaned against the door as he raised a finger to his lips, eyes on Ivy and Dane. "Move away."

He motioned his hand for the two to move away while keeping his ear on the door. Meanwhile, Ivy and Dane looked at each other before sprinting away. When Tiger looked back at them once again, they were gone, hidden somewhere in this suite.

"Wow."

’Tsk.’he clicked his tongue, shaking his head. ’I guess that’s much better. I’m afraid my ears will burst first if those two keep screaming. That’s not how I want to die.’
