Chapter 1130: Investigation

Chapter 1130: Investigation

[Additional Note: Tell my impostor she needs more practice. Hera Cruel isn’t as pathetic.]

"Hera Cruel," Officer Park whispered, shifting his eyes to the impostor in horror. ’Now this is more like what the most dangerous woman could do instead of screaming her name. Her actions speak volumes...’

Officer Park ducked on instinct when a loud explosion outside the station was heard. The walls, ceiling, and floor shook due to the impact, prompting everyone to check the situation, including Officer Park. The moment the officer went out, he caught one of the mobiles on fire, men in uniform in formation with their weapons pointing up.

Curious, the officer slowly turned around and looked up at the station’s rooftop. His eyes dilated, catching a chopper hovering over the rooftop before a ladder rolled over its door. The woman standing defenseless on the railing slowly moved the megaphone in front of her mouth.

"Officers," she called, unfazed by the movements on the ground. She slowly raised her other hand, clinging onto the ladder before the chopper slowly ascended. "Thank you for letting me stay for the night. Saved me a few bucks for a motel room."

Officer Park and some officers who had seen her in their office had their jaws dropped. They stood motionless while those who came to arrest the real Hera Cruel moved. They opened fire at her but to no avail. It was too windy today, and she was swaying in the air while the chopper quickly ascended in the sky.

The swat and Interpol hadn’t given up yet, but Officer Park knew it was futile for some reason. Hera Cruel had done so many grave crimes even ten lifetimes wasn’t enough to serve all her sentences. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration that even her death could be another crime to escape her sentence. But she never got arrested for any of the crimes she committed.

Yet, she got arrested for jaywalking.

[This is why some people think the law is funny.]

Her previous remarks rang in Officer Park’s mind, realizing that a simple mocking remark wasn’t as empty as he thought. It was the real mockery she had for the law. She found it funny and as shameful as it was, she had all the reason to mock it.

’The law is indeed funny,’he thought, crumpling the packet of wet wipes in his grip. ’We can’t arrest her for any of her biggest crimes, but if she wanted to, she’d be locked up even for the pettiest crime.’

If this wasn’t her way of mocking the law, then no one would know what it was for.

’Above all.’Officer Park gazed down at the wet wipes in his hand. ’What is in the USB drive?’

Meanwhile...

"Mhm. That was fun." Hera peeled off the extra prosthetics on her nose and jaw as she sat in the co-pilot seat. "Though that Hera is quite loud, there’s an interesting officer in the station. I almost thought he’d agree to date me. I was this close."

Joker, who was in the same cockpit, glanced at her. At this point, she was already wiping her face with some wet wipes to remove her heavy eye makeup.

"Killed her?" he asked, snapping his eyes on the scan monitor between them. "People are mad to be claiming as you and believing their own lie. Anyway, this will be a race in the sky."

"Don’t worry about her. In about ten minutes, her mouth will foam." Hera hissed in satisfaction as she removed her makeup. "It’s the same with the ones they employed to catch us in the sky. They won’t open fire if we hover over residential areas."

Joker cast her a sidelong glance, shrugging as he already planned that. Since it was only Joker and Hera on this mission, they didn’t have the leisure to fight them head-on. That wasn’t the plan, after all.

"How’s the other guys?" she asked once she cleared her face from the heavy makeup. "Heard from them?"

"The last I heard, they took No One with them," he replied nonchalantly. "They needed him."

"I’m guessing they told him it’s an order?"

"They said you were arrested."

"He fell for that?"

"Hera Cruel driving an army tank? Is that something you wouldn’t do?"

"But getting arrested for doing that is not something I’d fall." Hera casually put on her headset to assist him. "It’s the guy’s day off. They should’ve let him be."

Joker smirked as he laughed weakly. "You’re a hypocrite. No One is not here for you to act like that. You’re not impressing anyone here. You agreed when he asked for a day off just to prove you’re not a tyrant, but you knew the guys won’t let him off."

"Haha." Hera chuckled as well as she readied herself at their aerial situation. "At least he knows that he has terrible colleagues, not a horrible boss."

"You’re a horrible boss."

The corner of her lips curled up into a smirk. She clicked a button on the headset, saying,

"Connect me to the Interpol," she said. "Time to mock the idiots."

[INTERPOL]

Elliot sat quietly in a conference room. He was alone physically, gazing at the nameplates in front of each seat. On top of the table were devices that were placed inches from the nameplates. Each time someone spoke, a red light would shine from it, so he knew who was talking.

"Elliot Dunkell, your position and reputation in on the line," said someone from the middle of the empty seats. "We cannot reinstate you until this investigation is over and clear you."

"Reinstating me when I am neither fired nor quit," Elliot scoffed, eyes glinting. "I’ve said what I said. I do not have any connections with Hera Cruel or the Sun Organization. It was a shame I couldn’t catch them, but as I also mentioned, that is not the purpose of my last mission."

Elliot huffed sharply. "I understand your worries and concerns, but I give you my word. My intention will always be in the best interest of the Interpol. That will never change."

"And we are wasting our time in here," he added, leaning closer to the table. "You sent most of our forces to catch Hera Cruel, which I see is terribly wrong."

"How come it is wrong, Mr. Dunkell?" another voice rang. "We confirmed Hera Cruel’s presence in the District 11th. We are not letting her get away this time."

A laugh escaped Elliot, shaking his head. "I’ve been after this woman for years."

"Are you saying she won’t be in there?"

"I’m saying even if she’s there, sending our forces away from the headquarters is foolish," he stressed solemnly. "She’s mocking us and you’re giving her all the necessary things to do that."

"Ever since she returned, Hera Cruel had been leaving traces of her which she had never done in the past," he continued in the same tone. "And yet, even with the traces she left behind, she’s always a step ahead of us. It’s like her saying, her traces are only proof she’s ahead of us and not behind."

A glint flickered across Elliot’s eyes. "I’m going to catch her, but I can only do so if you let me get out of here to do my job. I am not a traitor and if treason is upholding the Interpol’s mission and purpose, then I’m guilty as charged."
