Chapter 1121: I don’t think I’m the one who needs help
"Leo, do you want to sleep with me?"
Leo looked at Heaven in horror, but he was more mortified at himself. He believed he was starting to hear things just because he hadn’t had a good night’s sleep. This was probably a sign he was losing his mind.
"Haha." An awkward laugh escaped him, shook his head, and then continued eating. "This food is good. So good!"
Heaven furrowed her brows, watching him continue eating as if he didn’t hear her. "Are you okay?"
"Yes, of course!" His answer was quick, giving her a quick look. "I’m just hungry."
"Oh." Heaven rocked her head, watching him eat faster now. "Slow down or you’ll —"
Before she could finish her reminder, Leo started pounding his fist against his chest. She hurriedly moved the glass to him, which he snatched and chugged in one go.
"Hah!" Leo breathed out in relief, putting down his glass with a heavy bam. "Uh, sorry about that. I didn’t crack it, did I?"
Leo checked the bottom of the empty glass, sighing in relief when he made sure how he put it down didn’t leave a crack. Another awkward smile turned up on his face, lifting his gaze to her.
"I think I need to go," he said awkwardly. "I don’t think I’m okay."
"Are you hurt?"
"No, no." He waved profusely. "It’s nothing like that. It’s just that — never mind."
Leo forced a grin, embarrassed to tell her he was hallucinating and hearing voices. He tapped the table, clearing his throat.
"Anyway, thanks for the food and for letting me use the shower," he expressed. "I’m a mess, you see? I hadn’t had a proper sleep since I don’t know. So, yeah."
"Okay." Heaven nodded, watching him stand from his chair. "So, the answer to my question is a ’no?’"
"Huh?"
"I asked you," she repeated, assessing that aghast look on his face. "Will you sleep with me if I asked you?"
"..."
For the next two minutes, Leo only stared at her vacantly. Was this another hallucination? Or was she asking him about the impossible? Or maybe she was saying something else, and his sick mind was processing it differently?
To make sure, Leo mindlessly slapped himself without regard if that would make him look insane. Because if he didn’t wake up from this, he might lose his mind completely.
"Leo!" Heaven sprung up from her seat, panicking. She rushed to him, grabbing his wrist to stop him in case he slapped himself again.
"What are you doing?" She raised her other hand, touching his reddening cheek worriedly. "Why did you do that?"
Leo stared at her, unfazed by his throbbing cheek.
"Heaven, did you just ask me to sleep with you?" he whispered. "Because if you didn’t, I think I need help. I’m hearing things and —"
"You weren’t hearing things," she declared. "I did ask you if you want to sleep with me or if you’re willing to sleep with me if I asked you to."
"..." Leo furrowed his brows, confused. "Did you just say that?"
"Huh?"
"That I wasn’t hearing things. I’m sorry." Leo moved his arms away in surrender, taking a step back. "I’m confused and if I keep getting confused, I’d think I’m losing my mind. Were you really asking me —"
"Yes!" this time, Heaven raised her voice. "I’m asking you to have sex with me!"
His breath hitched, and his eyes dilated. Heaven, on the other hand, pursed her lips as her face turned red.
’Why did this sound so easy when Hera did it?’ she wondered but quickly shrugged off any memory of Hera’s seductive skills.
That woman, Hera, would ask for sex as if she were asking for mere candy or even protest about it like an activist. Heaven was not interested in recalling the graphic details of those times. They were already stuck in her mind and the least she wanted to do was remember them.
"You’re not losing your mind," she said under her breath after calming herself down. "I’m bringing up a ridiculous question and wanting a ridiculous answer. So, please, don’t hurt yourself."
"Heaven," Leo whispered, holding her shoulder and sitting her down on the chair next to him. "I know you’re not okay, but doing this... will not fix everything."
Like a good friend he was, Leo sighed and didn’t take her question to heart. Heaven was going through a divorce and even though they had a past, he would never take advantage of her vulnerability. It wasn’t like he was a saint, but despite their old flame, he would choose their friendship over some momentary heat.
"Listen to me." Leo drew a deep breath, looking at her straight in the eye. "I don’t know why you decided to divorce your husband, and I don’t buy that you don’t love him. I know you love him, and I know it hurts. I also know you have a reason for this."
"But as much as you can, please, don’t make rash decisions," he continued. "Because if you do, you’ll end up regretting it."
Heaven pursed her lips, staring deep into his eyes.
"I respect you and our friendship. Even if you made rationalization in your situation, I can’t just —"
"Don’t respect me," Heaven replied in a deadpan tone. "And don’t value our friendship."
"Heaven."
"For a long time, even until now, I feel like I don’t own my body," she explained meekly. "And I don’t even know what to do with it. So, for once, I want to do something for myself and my body. It’s ridiculous, I know. But this is not a decision I just had now."
Again, Leo and Heaven fell into total silence. For a while, he could only stare at her in disbelief. How could he believe this? Heaven and him? In that type of setting? Although Leo and Heaven had a history together, he had never thought of her as a mere fling or someone he would sleep with without any attachment.
"I don’t think I’m the one who needs help," he blurted. "I’ll set you up for an appointment with my psychiatrist."
