Chapter 1118: Testing my inherited skills
[If you want to confirm if the person you met in there is real or not, why not ask her yourself?]
[If you have the guts and if you truly believe she’s good, then I’ll tell you the address where that Hera lived.]
[Do you want it?]
Leo gripped the steering wheel tightly as Dominic’s voice echoed in his mind repeatedly. He took a deep breath, snapping his eyes up at the low-rise condominium building.
"She’s here?" he whispered, almost laughing to himself. "Is he mocking me?"
Leo knew this place very well. Although he had never been inside it, he used to drop off someone in this place. And that someone used to be so special to him. She was still special in his heart, but only as his friend.
For sure, Dominic knew about that.
Was this his way of mocking him? By letting Hera stay in a place where Heaven used to live?
"I should’ve known he held grudges. Does the fact his wife and I had a vague past still annoy him?" he wondered as he laughed in ridicule. "He’s much more petty than I thought."
Leo shook his head before looking up at the building again. Another sigh slipped past his nostrils.
’It doesn’t matter,’he thought. ’Whether or not this is his sick way to humor or mock me. She’s in there.’
He believed Dominic.
There was no need for Dominic to lie about Hera being in this place. She was a felon and, for sure, she was hiding. But was it safe to approach her right now? Thinking of what he experienced in Dragon’s lair, he felt his entire body freeze on the spot.
’Is she okay inside?’ he wondered. ’Is she gonna be okay there?’
Slowly, his mind split in half. A part of him was worried that she was taken hostage or people were watching her. On the other hand, he was scared. His body still remembered all the life and death situations it went through. Hence, it wouldn’t listen to him.
’No,’he told himself. ’I almost died back there, and I accepted it.’
He gulped, eyes burning with determination. "I don’t wanna go back to being a coward. Not again." He nodded and gathered a lifetime of courage.
Leo lost Heaven, his first love, because he was a coward. He took things slowly and didn’t fight for her. Instead, he just waited, hoping she would come back. She never came back to him.
Just when he believed he wouldn’t love again, just as much as he did the first time, Hera came along. Despite their deadly situation, he fell in love with her.
He couldn’t back down now especially, when he daringly showed his love even if it meant death. He also knew Hera felt the same toward him. After all, she revealed her secrets to her captor, even if she knew it would kill her.
"I need to talk to her," he convinced himself. "One last time, Leo."
He lifted his eyes to the rearview mirror. "One last time. Fight." He nodded encouragingly. "She’s worth it."

Leo held a piece of paper where the building address and the unit number were written. He carefully trod the hallway, nervously looking around in case some armed men would appear. So far, he hadn’t met anyone. The lobby also didn’t seem hostile or seemed to be in distress about anything.
It put his heart at ease. But that wouldn’t lower his guard.
"Unit number 505," he murmured, stopping in front of a door that had the same number on the paper.
Leo drew another deep breath, looking at the door with determination. He looked to his right and then to his left, easing his heart for a moment. When he faced the door once again, he cleared his throat and raised his fist. He was about to knock when he stopped.
"Come on," he winced, retracting his fist and bumping the top of his fist against his forehead. ’This is not the right time to chicken out.’
He paced back and forth, glancing at the door. When he stopped, he was almost panting, as if he had just run a mile. He could feel his courage dwindling and his heart racing. He shut his eyes and huffed, raising his fist. With eyes shut, he moved his fist towards the door.
However, before his knuckles could touch the hard surface, the door opened from the inside. Leo froze, snapping his eyes open on instinct. The second he did, deep lines immediately appeared between his brows.
"Heaven?" he blurted out, confused. "What are you doing here?"
Heaven, who was standing on the other side, also furrowed her brows. "Leo? What are you doing here?"
"Uh." Leo realized his hand was still in the knocking position, flinging it back awkwardly to scratch the back of his head. "I was told to come here, but I think I got to the wrong floor"
"You were told to come here?" Heaven tilted her head to the side. "By who?"
"Your husband," he huffed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Dominic?"
"Yes. Uhm, Heaven? Do you know unit 505?"
"This is unit 505."
Leo peeked at her, pondering. "Oh?" He glanced at the paper again, assuming his vision was just wrong. However, it was clear as day that the unit number was the same as Heaven’s.
’Then, why would Dominic...’ he slowly gazed up at her again, remembering that Hera and Heaven were friends. "Uhm, Heaven? Do you have a visitor with you?"
"No. I’m alone."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
Leo stretched his neck a little to get a glimpse of the unit inside. However, with her by the door and the structure of the unit, it was hard to see further than the entryway.
"Leo," called Heaven, snapping his attention back to her. "Do you need anything?"
"Uh, no." He forced a smile, crumpling the paper in his hand. He then took a step back. "I probably got the wrong address. Anyway, go on. Don’t mind me."
With that being said, Leo turned his back on her and started walking away. Heaven, on the other hand, stared at his back and sighed.
"Did Dom really send you here?" she asked, watching him stop in his tracks. When he looked back, a subtle smile appeared on her face. "Has anyone told you on the way you look like a mess? Did you eat?"
"Huh?"
"I’m testing my inherited cooking skills," she explained. "I would love some feedback... if you don’t mind."
