Chapter 1036: The science behind cloning.

Sebastian halted from his steps when he felt his chaperon stopped. Looking back at Princess, he furrowed his brows at the shocked expression plastered on her. Curious, he followed the direction Princess was staring in, only to see a woman several steps from them.

"Uncle Princess, why are you looking at her?" he asked, looking back at Princess.

Princess snapped back to the current lapse when Sebastian’s voice caressed her ears. She gazed down at him, forcing a smile to her face.

"Huh?" Princess cleared her throat. "No — nothing. I just thought I saw someone."

"Someone you know?"

Princess nodded. "Yes, but I was wrong. Let — let’s go."

When Princess raised her head, Hera already fixed the shock on her face. As if a stranger, Hera resumed in her steps going in their direction. But this time, she kept her eyes ahead, as if she didn’t know Sebastian and Princess.

"Mhm, alright." Sebastian nodded, resuming his steps and peeking at the lady walking in their direction. ’Do I know her?’

Sebastian tilted his head, his steps slow and careful, deep in thought. For some reason, he felt like he had seen that face before. He just didn’t know where or how, but she looked very familiar. Meanwhile, Princess kept her eyes on the familiar face coming closer to them.

’Hera,’ Princess whispered, having this urge to stop Hera and hold her. She and Gray heard everything from Bear. So, they already knew that Heaven and Hera had switched bodies again. However, the two still chose to stay beside Sebastian because that was their mission. Unless Hera told them they could come, they would stay where they were.

Even so, seeing Hera right now brought all the longing Princess felt. Even when Hera was able to sport a cold and strong front in the blink of an eye, Princess knew she was in pain. She wanted to console her sister, but how? Sebastian was here and, aware of Hera’s situation, Hera had only a short amount of time to completely hide her tracks from the watchful eyes of everyone.

Time seemed to stop for Hera as she walked past Sebastian and Princess. She held her breath, chanting in her mind not to lose her mind. Sebastian didn’t know her and even if Princess knew her, she wouldn’t be so stupid as to make a conversation.

’I have to leave,’ she told herself. ’I have to leave.’

"Wait!"

Hera’s steps halted when she heard Sebastian’s call. However, she didn’t look back even when she felt his gaze on her back. Princess, on the other hand, furrowed her brows at the little master.

"Little Master," Princess called under her breath. "Why are you..."

"I know you," Sebastian spoke, making Princess’s eyes dilate. "Did you come here to visit my mommy?"

Hera gulped a mouthful, confused. ’How did he know?’ she wondered, only to shrug the question as it was of no importance. Hera looked back, jolting a bit, when she realized Sebastian was only a few steps from her.

"You know me?" she arched a brow and tilted her head a little to the side. "Are you sure?"

Sebastian nodded. "Hera Cruel."

"Basti!" Princess panicked, taking Sebastian’s arm to pull him away from Hera. She looked around in fear someone was watching, but Sebastian just looked at Princess with genuine wonder. He didn’t dwell on her reaction, though, as he set his eyes back on Hera.

"You’re not crying anymore," he added with a smile. "Do you feel better now?"

Princess held her breath in panic, eyes shaking as she glanced at Hera. From what it looks, Princess was simply trying to protect Sebastian from the bad guy. But the truth was far different from that.

Hera glanced at Princess but said nothing.

"Kid, how did you know my name?" Hera slowly squatted down in front of Sebastian. "Do your parents know you talk to strangers? You’re going to give your chaperone a heart attack."

Sebastian pursed his lips, studying her face up close. "But you’re not a stranger."

"What makes you think I’m not?"

"My daddy gave me that phone so I can talk to you," he explained in a knowing tone. "I know it’s you because of your voice. It sounds scary."

Hera let out a short chuckle, running her tongue across her inner cheek. "You got the wrong person, kid," she said, and then her eyes fell on the book he was carrying.

[The science behind cloning.]

Deep lines appeared between her brows as soon as she caught the title of the book. Hera slowly gazed up at him, holding his gaze.

’He’s reading about clones again,’ she thought, knowing her son full well. ’What else did us, the adults, do to upset him more?’

"How did you know my name?" she asked, snapping her attention back to him. "Did your dad tell you?"

"No. My mom."

"Your mom?" Hera almost laughed bitterly.

How that simple word cut so deep. His mom... and that was not her.

Princess furrowed her brows, knowing Heaven and Sebastian rarely spoke since her ’accident.’ How could Heaven tell Sebastian about Hera? She wouldn’t even tell him goodbye.

"Your mom must have lost her mind," Hera scoffed. "Did she tell you to stay away from me because I’m bad?"

"Yes." Sebastian nodded.

"Wow... Heaven, that little piece of shi —" Hera bit her tongue, realizing her next words weren’t meant for Sebastian’s innocent ears to hear.

"She kept checking on you on her computer," he explained, causing Princess and Hera to furrow their brows.

In Heaven’s computer? But Heaven hadn’t left this hospital since...

Hera’s train of thought trailed off when she realized the Heaven he was talking about wasn’t the original Heaven. Right. There was a time in the past when Sebastian curiously played with her computer and saw many confidential files. Among all those files was Hera’s.

After lecturing him about it, Sebastian curiously asked about one particular profile in passing. And Hera answered anything she could think of at the moment.

’Fuck me,’ she snickered, but then, told herself this might be a good thing. "Listen to your mom, kiddo. Stay away and don’t talk to strangers. That pretty aunt you got there won’t even stand a chance if I take you with me."

Hera huffed as she smiled, patting his head before she could even realize her action. "Be good and don’t let others know you know me." She stared at him for a while, taking this cursed encounter as a blessing in disguise.

Meanwhile, Sebastian stared at her smile solemnly. He blinked and blinked, watching her retrieve her hand and push herself up. Gazing up, he caught her flash him one more smile before she turned her back on him.

"Mommy..." he whispered, making Hera freeze on the spot.

"Basti," Princess breathed out, sporting an aghast expression as she gazed down at Sebastian. Meanwhile, Hera froze, wide-eyed.

What did he just call her?
