Chapter 1033: Heaven’s unexpected visitor

Days later...

[After months of recovery, actor Leo Wu was discharged today...]

[... details of his health weren’t disclosed, but his agency reassured the fans he was getting better...]

Heaven’s eyes softened as she watched the news covering Leo’s well-being. Although she knew this was just one of the news to divert the public’s attention, it still put her heart at ease.

"He’s safe..." she whispered with a subtle, but then it disappeared.

"Hah. Heaven, you’re really crazy, are you?" she muttered to herself, laughing in ridicule. "How can you be happy that he’s alright when your husband is dying?"

Heaven closed her eyes and drew a deep breath. When she reopened her eyes, she stared at the television once more before turning it off. She rolled on her side, clasping the sheet tightly.

It had been days since Dominic’s inauguration and the chaos that took place. Ever since then, Axel hadn’t been visiting her. Even if he did, it would be quick just to see if she was okay. It wasn’t like she wanted to have any visitors and had the energy to talk to Axel or even to Sebastian. Her son visited her every day, after all.

’I wanted to treat him right,’ she thought, thinking of what Sebastian’s visits always looked like. ’But how can I? When I took away his mother and killed his father?’

Despite her desire to at least try to be okay in front of Sebastian, she didn’t know how to. She didn’t even know what to say or how to act. Even if she tried, the conversations would end before they could even start. Hence, without Sebastian’s knowledge, the visits he always looked forward to were dreadful situations for her.

’I hope he won’t visit me today,’ she prayed, only to wince when she heard the door slide open.

A deep breath escaped her lips, shutting her eyes tightly, pretending to sleep. She heard the door slowly closed, approaching light footsteps, and then a faint noise from the chair beside her bed. Whenever Sebastian would visit, there were days she would pretend to sleep until he left. It was the same when Axel would come. She avoided them at all costs, even if she had to keep her eyes shut for hours.

Heaven slowly peeked, sensing a pair of eyes on her back. ’I can’t face him,’she thought, sighing. ’My head hurts.’

"I wonder whose visitor you’re expecting that you’d pretend to sleep."

Suddenly, the voice that rang in the room broke the momentary silence. Heaven’s eyes slowly widened as her breath hitched. She knew that voice; it was a voice she kept hearing whenever she spoke in the past. There was no way she would mistake it.

Heaven slowly turned her head back, wide-eyed.

"Hera?" she blurted out the second her eyes landed on the beautiful woman sitting on the chair. Her eyes shook, assessing the beautiful Hera smiling. "Is it... really you?"

Heaven carefully pushed herself to sit up, facing her visitor squarely. She assessed Hera’s face, catching the small crack on the side of Hera’s lips.

"If I say I’m just an illusion, would you believe that?" Hera cocked her head to the side, observing the shocked look on her face. "Damn it. First, you make me cringe at that reaction while wearing my face. And now, I’m in disbelief seeing it again with that face."

"Hera."

"How have you been, Heaven?"

Heaven’s lips quivered, biting her bottom lips. Her eyes welled up, keeping her gaze on Hera. To confirm she wasn’t having delusions and hallucinations, she pinched her cheeks.

"Haha." Hera chuckled. "Is that what you did when you woke up in your body?"

"Ouch..." Heaven rubbed her cheeks, snapping her eyes in Hera’s direction. "You’re still here."

Hera smacked her lips, lifting her foot to rest over the other. "Of course, I’m still here."

"What happened? I mean, what are you doing here?"

"I’m getting a check-up with an OB-GYN." Hera shrugged. "After you let him use this body, I might be carrying his child."

Heaven’s face went blank as her complexion turned pale. Seeing her expression, the corner of Hera’s eyes creased as her lips stretched broadly.

"It’s okay, though. It’s not like I’m the one to talk. After all, I even gave birth while I was in your body." Hera winked playfully. "Good thing I’m not pregnant. Or so, what the doctor told me, it’s still too early to know for sure."

"Hera," Heaven whispered, pursing her lips into a thin line. The corner of her eyes turned red, swallowing down the building tension in her throat. "What happened to Dragon? How did you get out?"

"Are you asking because you don’t know?" Hera tilted her head to the side. "I’m sure while being in my body, you knew what I am capable of. I could get out of his clutches at any moment if I wanted to. It’s the same reason he kept you drugged."

Heaven cast her eyes down, clasping the sheet over her lap. Of course, she knew what Hera was capable of. She always told herself that if Hera were the one in that body, she wouldn’t have to suffer Dragon’s tyranny. Yet, even though Heaven knew that, she just couldn’t pull it off.

Copying Hera didn’t need mere acting, but also backed with skill and wits.

"Ha ha..." Heaven let out a weak chuckle, tears streaming down her face. "I’m pathetic, aren’t I?"

She slowly lifted her head, facing Hera squarely. "Just how low can I be, Hera? Why do I feel upset that you were fine and dealt with Dragon so easily? I didn’t want to feel this way, but I can’t help it. It’s frustrating. Not that I want you to suffer just like how I did in his hands. It’s just..."

"It’s just that seeing me here as free as a bird took away all your justification for what you went through?" Hera continued what she thought Heaven would say, making the latter bite her lips. "You really are a piece of garbage, are you, Heaven?"
