Chapter 1032: Hera against the world
Hours later...
Hera sat in the middle of the long table in the grand dining hall, where everyone usually shared their meals. The place was even wider than the great hall of the mansion because Hera often liked eating with everyone. Which explained the number of people present at this meeting. Although the majority was still outside, there were a significant amount of people to hear her orders.
She tossed a handful of papers to them, letting it scatter on the floor.
"This is the list Dragon coughed out who we’re currently allied with the Sun Organization," she remarked, watching those in the front picking up the papers. "We are already familiar with half of the names, but find out what they had been up to all these years. It’s the same for the rest of this list."
Wolf skimmed through the list, catching new names that had never turned up during his investigation while in Central Intelligence.
"Tracy, Victor, force Dragon to tell us the people’s names they sent on individual missions," Hera continued, casting Victor and Tracy a look. "Tell him holding back information won’t be an effective leverage for his pathetic life."
"Yes, boss!" Victor casually saluted. "By the way, I see a very familiar name here."
Hera arched a brow at him.
"This guy is being held in maximum prison."
"Well, I guess the Warden’s name made it to the first of the list."
Victor grinned. "Let me handle it. Tracy can babysit Dragon for a while."
"If that’s okay with her." Hera shrugged, casting Tracy a look when she winked.
"Don’t worry. I’ll take care of him." Tracy glanced at Victor. "See, Vic? The time that you’d settle a score with that ugly old fatty has come!"
Suddenly, the clattering of cutleries rang in the dining hall. Everyone moved their eyes to the end of the long table Hera was sitting on. There, at the end of the table, was Fig, having a meal.
"Captain, you’re not the one we’re talking about," Tracy laughed awkwardly. "You might be a fatty, but you’re not ugly. I swear!"
"I told myself I’m going to lose weight." Fig stared at his already empty plate in shock. "Hera, you are a vile woman. Why did you serve me food when all I plan is to sit down?"
"Your fats are an effective bullet vest." Hera raised her thumb. "Try again tomorrow."
Primo shook his head, looking at Fig in dismay. "He’s never going to lose weight."
"His eating habits will kill him," Hunter whispered, clearing his throat and looking away when Tracy glared at them.
"No One, Deborah, Tiger, and Moose will go with me. We’ll cross the names on that list one by one. Wolf and half of you will gather information about our enemies, their businesses, their connections, alliances, and rivals." Hera looked at Wolf sternly, and the man nodded confidently.
"I’m on it," said Wolf. "I won’t let you down this time."
"I know you won’t. Lastly, Fig will keep tabs on the Interpol," she continued, swinging her foot to and fro. "That’s all."
"What about the Sun Organization?" Hunter blurted out, almost biting his tongue as he realized he was the only one who raised concerns. "I mean... aren’t we going to prioritize them?"
The corner of Hera’s mouth curled up. "Dimitri isn’t my direct enemy, but Dragon’s. However, he’s not my problem anymore." She cast Fig a look. "Right, Fig?"
"The Interpol wants Dragon and Dimitri," explained Fig. "Didn’t you go with Hera on her trip to the Interpol? Those guys were on them already, and by observing the Interpol, it’s inevitable to know the Sun’s movements."
"Right." Hunter rocked his head. "I see."
"Don’t be complacent," said Hera. "Right now, the Interpol wants Dragon and Dimitri. After they get their hands on them, they’ll want me. Especially the members of the General Assembly. We’ll all take them down."
Hera jumped out of the table, standing before them fiercely. "I am declaring war not just against the underground, but the world. I can’t promise you safety anymore. The only promise I’d give you is a proper funeral."
Those who had been in this organization for a long time found more relief in her remarks. Especially those who worked closely with her. Tiger, who was idling in the corner, smirked proudly. Wolf, on the other hand, smiled and nodded. Moose just shrugged, confident he wouldn’t be one of the people who’d be buried.
Aside from the relief of the majority, there were those few who were even more determined. Like Deborah, Hunter, and Primo. They stayed, not expecting they would be safe. They stayed, knowing this would be their only idle time. And they were more than ready to settle scores against those who participated in their pain and suffering.
"If that didn’t scare you, then go." Hera’s tone softened, jerking her chin. "You better start moving, or you might not catch up."
Everyone answered in unison, leaving the dining area one after another to execute the order. Neither fear nor excitement was seen in them. If anything, they were all just confident. Hera and a few stayed. When the dining hall was almost empty, Hera scanned the faces around.
"Before we leave..." she dawdled. "I need to make a stop."
She glanced at Tiger, only to see him nod slightly. She smiled subtly, shifting her attention to everyone.
"I still have some unfinished business to do," she uttered. "And until then, you three musketeers can decide whether you want to stay or not."
"What? So you can shoot us from behind?" Primo scoffed, making her shrug. "I don’t need time to think. I already made up my mind."
"Didn’t you say Heaven needs you?" Hera furrowed her brows, cocking her head to the side. "Don’t tell me you’re gonna cheat on her?"
"It’s true she needs me." Primo looked at her straight in the eye, nodding. "That’s why I’m staying."
The lines between Hera’s brows deepened, casting Tiger a look on instinct. But alas, Tiger seemed just as baffled as her. Thus, she looked at Moose, only to see him shrugged defensively. When her eyes landed on Wolf, Hera instantly got her answer.
"Ahh..." she chuckled weakly, setting her attention back to Primo. "Surprise?"
"A bit, but also relieved." Primo briefly raised his brows. "Doesn’t matter though."
’I guess that’s his way of saying my secret is safe with him.’
