Chapter 1031: He’s not as terrifying as I thought he was.

Primo didn’t feel the need to confront Hera or anybody else at his discovery. Everyone was just busy and nobody owed him an explanation. Thus, to cool his head and think for a while, he went out to take a walk. With this noise around, no one would be able to fall asleep.

"I thought Primo Rossi’s life is already fucked up since everyone is always awake," he muttered, kicking the small pebble in his path. "But it’s worse that these people are awake without any drug in them."

Deep lines appeared between his brows, squinting his eyes as he caught Deborah heading somewhere with Hunter. He cocked his head a little to the side, dragging his feet to see where the two were heading. His initial thought was that those two might have plans to have some private time together. They were adults, both single.

However, when Primo stood several meters from a small bungalow within the premises, he arched a brow.

"This doesn’t look like a guest house," he muttered, looking around in case someone would shoot him if he crossed any line. "But then again, those two went in without any hesitation."

Maybe it was the fact he couldn’t believe that Heaven was Hera and thus, he was snooping around on people’s businesses as a diversion. Or perhaps he wanted to make sure Deborah and Hunter were truly on Hera’s side. With everything that had happened, he couldn’t be complacent. This story was too messed up; they could be allies now, but who knows when would they turn their back on them?

With that thought in mind, Primo approached the bungalow with discretion. The door creaked as he carefully pushed it open, tiptoeing his way in. Much to his dismay, the inside of the bungalow was nothing but a house of rooms.

There wasn’t any living room or anything in sight. It was like a small dormitory, like a hospital ward. But instead of curtains as separators, there were thin walls. The pungent smell was also strong. Using his fingertip, he slid one of the doors open.

"Damn," he whispered, catching some dry blood and a single chair.

Primo went to check the next room, but unlike the first one, it was clean. There weren’t any chairs on the third one, but chains attached to the wall. The rooms were small — a little wider if he spread his arms open.

"So this is their torture house, huh?" he muttered, raising his brows as he heard a faint scream somewhere.

"Ugh!!!!"

"That..." he trailed off, following where the sound was coming from.

After making a turn, there was a narrow path. At the end was an old iron door. When Primo reached it, the faint scream sounded a little louder.

"That’s weird," he thought, assessing the iron door. Much to his surprise, when he pushed it mildly, it opened.

It only needed a small gap for him to hear the loud screams and grunts. Curious, he pushed the door carefully and peeked inside. What Primo first saw after the door was a staircase going down.

’A basement, huh?’ he rocked his head, taking the steps down. Just before he could reach the landing, he bent over to check what he had to expect.

"Well, there he goes!" Tracy rolled her eyes, tossing the pincers back on the metal trolley. "Passed out again."

"You work fast," Hunter remarked, darting his eyes between Tracy and Victor.

From what Hunter heard, Tracy and Victor were the detectives who interrogated Wolf since the man’s arrest. But as it turned out, they were Hera’s people, whom she sent on a secret mission.

"Well, it’s a lot easier than legally breaking a criminal in the interrogation room," Tracy shrugged, turning her head to the corner where Wolf was idling. "Right?"

"They’re not even effective detectives," Wolf commented, assessing the bloody Dragon. "He’s already beaten to a pulp before these two took over."

"Here is Joker’s medical report." Victor read Joker’s charts, which were sent to him from the infirmary. "We barely pulled off one of his fingers — five more to go."

"This feels like a dream," Deborah kept her eyes on Dragon and had never taken her eyes off him even before he passed out. "That’s Dragon."

"Well, it is." Tracy smiled, shifting her eyes to Deborah. "He’s not as scary as you thought he was, huh?"

Deborah pressed her lips into a thin line, fist trembling as she clasped them as tight as she could. She couldn’t help but remember how she had lived in fear, the helplessness, desperation, and the pain this man had put her through.

She never thought this day would ever come.

"You’re right," she breathed out in relief. "He’s not as terrifying as I thought he was."

"Dragon is a smart lad." Victor approached Dragon, clasping his hair, and pulled it up. He bent over a little, looking at Dragon’s face up close, which was covered with his blood. "The only problem is, he’s too... greedy. Hera would’ve given him mercy if he didn’t cross the line, he was aware he shouldn’t have."

Victor slapped Dragon to wake him up. "Hey, wake up. We can’t continue if you’re unconscious — you have to feel it just like what Joker went through." He frowned when Dragon didn’t respond.

"I think he lost too much blood," Hunter remarked after observing Dragon. "Didn’t Hera say don’t kill him? She still has to send him to the Interpol."

Victor turned his head to him. "Mhm. We will send him to the Interpol barely alive."

"So he wouldn’t talk?"

"I don’t think he would talk." Just then, everyone’s attention turned to the stairs upon hearing Primo’s voice. "Once we hand him to the Interpol, there’s no way we could avenge Joker."

"Oh, smarty." Tracy whistled. "Alexander Cafre, huh? We had our eyes on you back when you were active. I remember one of our colleagues making an oath to nail you, even if it meant that’s the last case they’d work on."

Victor grinned. "Who would have thought that you’d end up working with us? Right, Wolf?"

Wolf frowned as the two continued to tease him. After all, Primo almost killed him in the past by sinking him into the ocean.

"We’ll settle that on our own next time," said Primo, advancing in their direction until he was a few steps from Dragon. "Wow. He’s probably surprised he could bleed this much."

"What are you still doing here?" asked Deborah, out of plain curiosity. "Wolf said the chopper you are asking for is already available."

Primo snapped his eyes up to Deborah and then to Wolf. He said nothing for a moment before he faced Deborah again.

"On second thought, I think it’s much safer to stay here."
