Chapter 1021: Protect her

"What the hell are they doing?" Primo grumbled, seated on the armchair with his arms on his spread legs. His expression turned darker, thinking of the news he heard just now. "Shouldn’t they be protecting him?"

He lifted his head, only to see Deborah and Hunter staring in Wolf’s direction. When Primo followed their gaze, he saw Wolf staring at the second floor while standing motionless in the same spot.

"Hey," called Primo. "What the hell is wrong with that woman? Is she crazy?"

Wolf didn’t respond.

"Tch. Did you hear from those guys?" he asked despite the lack of response from Wolf. "I was trying to reach Moose, but I can’t get through. Can you contact them and see if Heaven is alright?"

"Where do you think Wolf came from?" Deborah joined in, earning a look from Primo. "The man was in the precinct this whole time and Hera’s people barely got him out of that place."

"So?" Primo cocked his head to the side. "That doesn’t mean he shouldn’t know. He’s part of all of this fiasco."

"So were you," Hunter chimed in, giving Primo a knowing look. "You were part of this fiasco."

"And now, Dominic’s dead." A glint flickered across Primo’s eyes. "I left because I know those guys will make sure he will be safe. I was so sure they would protect them and Heaven. But look what happened."

His expression turned even sour as he recalled the news about Dominic. He balled his hands into tight fists until they trembled, torn from what he would feel at the moment. It wasn’t Dominic’s situation that threw him off, but the fact that Heaven’s safety could be compromised. Without Dominic, Heaven would be vulnerable.

"That woman..." Primo grumbled, grinding his teeth to restrain himself from throwing a huge feat. "Heaven risked her life trying to save her, yet all this time, she was fine all along."

It felt like Heaven’s, and everyone’s efforts were for naught. If Hera was capable of doing what she could do, it only made them look like a big joke. It was an insult to Heaven’s part.

"While she has all the energy to massacre everyone, Heaven is in a coma," he hissed, getting more frustrated at the thought he couldn’t analyze until now. "And now, Dominic’s dead."

"He’s not dead," Deborah corrected. "Not yet. Did you watch the same news as I did? He’s injured, not dead."

"He will," Primo reassured, locking eyes with her. "If I were the enemy, even if I failed to shoot him dead, I’d send someone to finish the job."

He slowly pushed himself up. "Hera is fine — too fine, it’s insulting."

After saying his piece, he turned on his heel to leave.

"Where are you going?" Deborah furrowed her brows. "You can’t just go sightseeing."

"I’m leaving." Primo looked back at them. "Maybe you two had more business in here because it’s Hera you want to help, but not me. I went on this mission with the two of you because of Heaven. Now that we all know Hera is fine and Dominic screwed things up, I got to leave."

"And what?" Deborah rose from her seat. "What will you do?"

"Protect her," he answered without a second hesitation. "Heaven might be crazy, but I owe her big time. If those guys messed up protecting Dominic, I can’t trust them to keep her safe. Considering she’s in a vulnerable state, I don’t know what the hell is going on in Dimitri’s sick mind. But what I’m sure of is that he won’t leave her alone."

Primo breathed out, scanning Deborah and Hunter. "Don’t stop me. Tell that to Hera. Though I doubt she would even need my help."

"Let him be." This time, Wolf answered. He still had his eyes on the second floor where Hera went to after breaking the television. "He’s right."

"I’m not saying he is wrong." Deborah clicked her tongue. "All I’m saying is that it already happened. I don’t know how or why would Hera care about Dominic Zhu. As far as I know, they don’t know each other. However, stepping out of here is far too dangerous."

She slowly set her eyes back to Primo. "I’m sure people are watching, Alexander. And for sure, they’ve seen you with her. At this point, I believe you already have the idea of Hera’s standing. The massacre? Stepping into Interpol’s territory and leaving the place unscathed? Even Heaven can’t do that."

"There is no reason for the Interpol to put a hit in Heaven’s head," Primo argued with a scoff. "Say whatever you want, but I’ll do whatever the hell I want. Even Moose couldn’t stop me. What more, you?"

"You’ll only put them in more danger," Hunter joined in the argument. "Right now, the only person who wants Dominic is Dimitri. Dragon is already incapacitated. But coming here with a mark on your back will only bring more danger to Heaven and her family. It’s like an invitation for more sick bastards like Dimitri to target them, thinking Hera is associated with them."

Primo clenched his teeth and balled his hands into a tight fist.

"Protecting her doesn’t mean I have to stay on her side," he breathed out. "I’ll stay at a distance."

With that being said, Primo turned on his heel to leave. He didn’t want to let them talk him out of it. Even if they made sense, his desire to protect Heaven overpowered everything. He owed her a big time and, for once, he wanted to protect someone he gave his word to.

Primo already failed to protect his siblings. He was powerless when the disease took the life of his savior. He might’ve embraced that taking other people’s lives was what he meant to do and not protect. But for one last time, he wanted to try; do his best so he could tell himself he regretted nothing.

Primo marched outside the hall without looking back. His eyes blazed with determination, ready to leave this hell for a more productive mission instead of getting dragged around by Hera. But just as Primo stepped out of the main entrance, he stopped.

"The fuck?" he muttered, catching a helicopter slowly descend on the wide lawn and a person jumping out of there before it could even reach the ground. "Ah, fuck me. What the hell is Tiger doing here?"
