Chapter 47: Invading Wolves Territory
Chapter 47: Invading Wolves Territory
Renjiro’s expression darkened. "Still not ready to talk? Huh?!"
The ogre bared his teeth. "We are warriors, not weaklings who grovel for mercy. Kill us if you want, but you will gain nothing from us!"
Renjiro turned to Elaria. "Huuuhhh?! You forced me... execute them. One by one."
Elaria nodded.
Raising her staff, she began systematically firing Arrows, eliminating the captives one at a time.
She held no sympathy for these creatures.
Ogres were far more savage than goblins—brutal, bloodthirsty, and entirely without mercy. Even the goblins, as vile as they were, had once sought protection to escape from becoming prey for the violent ogres.
The goblins had once begged the other races for protection, even them, but in the end, their greed had blinded them to gratitude.
Now, as one ogre after another thumped to the ground after getting hit by arrows, the remaining survivors were paralyzed with terror.
Finally, one of them broke. His voice cracked with fear as he shrieked, "Please! Don’t kill me! I’ll tell you everything! Our tribe has over seven thousand members! We have eight one’s at the ninth circle and one who can use magic!"
"Y-you... C-Coward!"
The other ogre who was giving the speech about killing them but they won’t give anything to them... his face twisted with fury. Without hesitation, he grabbed the traitor by the throat and snapped his neck.
The neck crunch echoed through the surroundings. Before the elves could stop him, he turned on the last few remaining ogres and killed them too in an instant.
Now, only he remained.
Breathing heavily, he raised his bloodstained hands and snarled at Renjiro, his voice thick with rage. "You think this changes anything, elf? The great King will crush your pitiful lands beneath his feet! Not even your so-called goddess can save you!"
Renjiro’s expression didn’t change. He simply raised a hand, his voice deathly calm.
"You have no idea what you’re saying..."
With a flick of his fingers, golden-white flames erupted inside the cage. The ogre captain barely had time to scream before the fire engulfed him.
His furious roars turned into agonized shrieks, his towering body reduced to cinders within seconds. When the flames died down, nothing remained but ashes.
Renjiro lowered his hand. The ogre had spoken of power, but he was nothing more than an ignorant fool.
True power wasn’t found in the crude strength of a barbarian king—it resided in the artifact that Renjiro now wielded.
The dagger he holds.
Even a strong warrior would be powerless against it. Renjiro turned to Elaria. His voice was steady, his command absolute.
"Let the people rest tonight. Tomorrow, we ride south—to the Dark Wolf territory. We’re going to rescue the unicorns."
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
Elaria’s heart pounded with excitement. She had read about unicorns in ancient elven records, but never had she seen one with her own eyes. And like all elves, she dreamed of forming a bond with one.
....
To the south of the Forest, magical beasts roamed in large groups in this part of the area. This place was a paradise for magical beasts—and also for human mercenaries.
But the mercenaries who have the guts to come here to hunt these magical beasts were mostly from or in powerful groups. For weaker mercenaries, this wasn’t a paradise; it was a hell.
The sun blazed high in the sky. Yet the Forest’s surroundings felt a bit dark and gloomy.
Countless graceful figures moved through the dense woods. Some carried longbows, darting swiftly between the trees, while others rode fierce black panthers, charging forward at high speed.
"Your Majesty, ahead is the area where the dark wolves live. But something’s strange—we haven’t seen any pack of wolves yet!"
Lirael, holding an elven longsword, stepped up to Renjiro. Behind her followed many huntresses, most of them stained with the blood of magical beasts.
Along the way, their army had wiped out a huge number of magical beasts that came their way.
Whether it was wolves or other kinds, nearly all had been cleared out. The magical cores they collected were already sent back to their territory by a team of huntresses.
Renjiro asked, "Have you found any traces unicorns?"
"Not yet," Lirael replied.
But then she handed him a blood-stained pebble and said, "Your Majesty, we found this. The blood on it likely comes from a unicorn."
Renjiro took the blood-stained pebble. The blood on the stone had dried, but it still gave off a holy glow.
Lirael was right—this was unicorn blood. Unicorns were holy magical beasts, a very rare kind.
According to their records, the Temple once used unicorn blood to make holy water that could drive away evil forces. This was also why the elves and the Temple didn’t get along.
Lirael said excitedly, "Your Majesty, there really are unicorns here!"
"There definitely are!" Renjiro nodded. Without the system’s help, even he would’ve struggled to believe unicorns could be in the Forest.
Their records told a story. Long ago, at the home of the elves, by the shores of their Lake, a large group of unicorns lived. The elven territory back then was so strong that it even created an army of unicorn riders.
Like their panthers riders now. But a conspiracy tore the them apart. Under pressure from the other races, the elves had to leave Lake to survive, scattering across the Continent.
The elves in this Forest were one of those "refugee" groups.
For many years, the elves here haven’t even heard of unicorns seeing a unicorn was very far talk. They could only learn about these amazing creatures from pictures and notes in their records.
Lirael said, "Your Majesty, the unicorns must have been attacked by magical beasts!"
Seeing her worried look, Renjiro comforted her, "Don’t worry. Unicorns are strong, they won’t die so easily. We came here to save them and bring them back to our territory."
To rescue the unicorns and destroy the wolf territory, Renjiro had brought a massive army of 20,000 soldiers.
This included 15,000 archers and 5,000 huntresses.
With the powerful artifact dagger by his side, he was fully confident he could wipe out the wolf Territory by taking out their leaders or most powerful wokves and bring back their Unicorns which rightfully belong to them... who cherished them.
Renjiro immediately ordered the army to spread out in groups and keep searching for signs of the unicorns.
