I Became My Elf King Character In A Game-Like World -
Chapter 46: Captured Spies
Chapter 46: Captured Spies
It had barely been a week and a half since he arrived in this world, yet his power had already multiplied several dozen times. The rate of his progress was utterly absurd, something that would terrify any other race if they knew.
"The Elves live for thousands of years. As a royal elf, my lifespan is even longer. With my natural talent, and the system’s assistance, there will come a day when I reach demigod hood and become one of the strongest beings on this continent!"
A fierce light shone in his eyes.
"Maybe... I can go even further. If I ignite the Divine Flame and condense a Divine Core, I could forge my own God Realm in the void, ascending to true godhood!"
A god was eternal. As long as their divine realm remained intact, a god would never perish.
’It is like I’m not in a fantasy game or anything but a cultivation novel... huh!’
Ascension to divinity, this was the ultimate ambition of every race on the Continent. Yet, it was far harder than conquering the entire world itself.
Renjiro didn’t know if he could achieve godhood. But compared to anyone else, his chances were far greater, because unlike them...
He had the system.
In short... he was playing with cheats!
....
Renjiro checked the remaining system tasks.
"There are two tasks left—one main quest and one side quest. The first is to slay the Dark Wolf, and the second is to rescue the unicorn herd besieged by the Wolfs."
These would be his next objectives.
Pushing open the door to his chamber, Renjiro stepped out and saw Elaria standing in the courtyard. The soft moonlight enveloped her, casting a silver glow over her figure, making her look almost ethereal.
"You’ve been waiting outside all this time?"
"Yes, Your Majesty," Elaria responded, walking toward him. "Did you succeed in your breakthrough?"
Renjiro nodded. "I have advanced to the late eighth circle."
Elaria was momentarily stunned.
She had expected him to reach the peak of the seventh circle or perhaps just step into the eighth, considering that he had already advanced recently.
However, to her utter shock, he had leaped directly to the late eighth circle. At this rate, he would soon be on par with her.
After a long pause, Elaria finally composed herself. Renjiro’s rapid growth was astonishing, but it was also something that filled her with pride and joy.
"Your Majesty, earlier, Selena came to report that a patrol of huntresses captured a group of ogres. She wished to know how you would like to handle them."
"Ogres?" Renjiro mused.
In the Forest, the northern territory belonged to the elves, while the south was ruled by the direwolves, and to the west lay the ogre tribe under the dominion of the Ogre King.
The balance of power among these three factions created a tense equilibrium. If any two forces were eliminated, the last remaining faction would gain absolute dominance over the Other region.
"Should we execute them or drive them out of our lands?" Elaria asked softly, gently holding onto Renjiro’s arm. Bathed in moonlight, she looked breathtakingly beautiful.
"Let’s go see them first," Renjiro decided.
The system had informed him that the war with Goblin Territory had drawn the attention of the Ogre King, who had sent ogres to scout the situation. That these ogres had been captured was not entirely surprising.
With the elven huntresses constantly patrolling and magical owl familiars monitoring the region, even a stealthy assassin would struggle to infiltrate their lands, let alone a group of ogres.
Escorted by a squad of guards, Renjiro and Elaria arrived at the holding area.
Roughly a dozen ogres were imprisoned in makeshift cages, surrounded by elite elven archers and huntresses standing watch.
The creatures were massive, grotesque, and bestial in appearance, like primitive savages. Standing over three meters tall, they were bare-chested, clad only in filthy, tattered pelts. Their deep skin made them resemble oversized goblins, but their brutal nature set them apart.
As their name suggested, ogres were man-eaters.
Renjiro approached the cages, while Elaria stood beside him, gripping her magic staff. The gemstone at its tip shimmered with mystical light, ready to unleash a Moon Arrow at a moment’s notice.
"Elves!" The imprisoned ogres stood up, their eyes filled with hostility.
"You had best release us at once, or the wrath of the our mighty King will fall upon your kind! Your lands will be razed, your people slaughtered!"
"I’ve heard that threat too many times, I mean wil... for now it is the second time" Renjiro said flatly. "But... oh well...If you value your lives, you might have a chance to keep them."
"This flimsy cage cannot hold us!"
Several ogres prepared to smash their way out, but before they could act, the largest of the group shoved them aside.
Towering close to four meters, this particular ogre was a giant among his kind. Though nowhere near the size of a twenty-meter giant giant, he still radiated an intimidating presence.
The ogres were distantly related to giants, which accounted for their extraordinary size.
The leader stepped forward and growled, "What do you want, elf? What will it take for you to release us?"
Renjiro’s gaze sharpened. "How many ogres live in your tribe? And how many of them are at the ninth circle?"
"You think I’d betray my kin so easily?" The ogre sneered. "We are not cowards like goblins. Kill us if you wish, but you will learn nothing of our tribe’s secrets!"
Renjiro glanced at Elaria and gave a slight nod.
In an instant, her staff radiated powerful magic, and a luminous Moon Arrow shot into the cage. Several ogres collapsed instantly, their skulls pierced clean through.
The remaining captives recoiled in terror.
Renjiro’s voice remained calm. "This is your final chance. Answer my questions."
The ogre leader glared at him. "You are making an enemy of the ogres! You will regret this, elf!"
Renjiro’s expression darkened. "Still unwilling to talk?"
