Chapter 962: Chapter 958 Assimilate

With that roar, the man went berserk. His arms, transformed into tentacles, began to wriggle as the flesh split open, morphing into purplish-red petals. The leather jacket he wore suddenly burst open, turning into strands of black mist that drilled into the man’s body. His upper torso was now bare, and though he appeared slender when clothed, his naked upper body was as strong as that of a wild bear, plainly visible to each and every zombie.

Seeing such a mighty body, one would expect the zombies to grow even more excited, but there was no sign of the madness usually present when they sighted living beings on their faces—instead, they mechanically charged at the man.

The skin on the man’s exposed upper body was not quite like that of normal humans. Initially, it seemed normal, but as it remained exposed to the air, the color of his skin began to change from its natural tone to a dark gray. The vivid red blood vessels gradually turned purple, and on his back, the skin undulated before tearing open, offering a clear view of the densely packed and neatly aligned muscles writhing beneath.

Hundreds of brownish-green tentacles emerged, and upon closer count, there were indeed over a hundred. They extended in all directions, and under the man’s control, each tentacle and petal curled up a zombie, lifting them high into the air.

"Keep it down!"

The man roared again as his body straightened up, and his feet began to lift off the ground, defying Earth’s gravity, and floated. His black hair instantly turned white and grew long, spilling over his shoulders. It was none other than Tang Ye.

As he ascended higher, the zombies grabbed by the tentacles were also lifted up, following Tang Ye as he took to the sky.

Soon enough, countless tentacles and petals raised their respective zombies into the air, swirling around. The zombies above were similar to visitors on an amusement park swing ride, being flung around with screams of terror.

Then, the tentacles and petals fiercely smashed the zombies towards the ground. With immense force destroying everything in its path, the ground caved in multiple areas, dust billowed high, and the many tentacles and petals retracted back into Tang Ye’s body just as the released zombies hit the ground, seemingly unscathed.

Hundreds of zombies, once seized by tentacles and petals, were scattered across the horde, dust filling the sky. Particularly the buildings, long neglected and unserviced, collapsed under the tremendous force, causing the concentration of dust in the air to become even denser.

Once the dust had settled, the zombies that had been grasped by the tentacles stood there in a daze. Their own kind paid them no heed, charging instead at Tang Ye, who was about to land. But the next second, the hundreds of zombies roared in unison, emitting agonized cries. Their bodies quickly contorted, with muscles bulging out in lumps. Their already tattered clothes, part of their flesh and blood, were suddenly stretched taut by the now massively swollen muscles.

Their pale skin began to change color, and with each shift in color, their skin took on more silver. This process seemed slow in description, but it was actually incredibly quick. The bizarre transformation appeared to subject the zombies to immense pain. Those undergoing the silvering process knelt in agony, flailing their claws and pounding the ground to vent the relentless pain surging through them.

About five or six seconds later, the hundreds of zombies had all undergone a drastic change. Their bodies turned completely silver, with their once blank eyes becoming black with red pupils, a truly chilling sight.

After this transformation, the hundred or so zombies roared in unison towards the sky, then launched a ferocious attack on the surrounding zombies!

These silver-armored corpses seemed to treat ordinary zombies as their prey. Their crimson eyes fixed on any zombie that was different from themselves. Their gleaming, silver-white claws waved, grabbing one zombie after another, opening their mouths wide, their silver-white fangs releasing a cold, bone-chilling glow. Dark qi constantly seeped out from their mouths, followed by a ferocious bite on the necks of other undead!

The sharp fangs easily tore through the rotting flesh on their victims’ necks, pus and blood dripping down. They then turned their gaze towards other zombies!

The zombies that were bitten by the silver-armored ones immediately started wailing in agony. Seconds later, the bitten zombies underwent a transformation, turning into silver-white zombies themselves, and went on to bite other zombies whose bodies were not silver!

In a matter of moments, within the dense tide of corpses, silver began to spread everywhere!

"Assimilate!"

Tang Ye shouted, and the spread of silver within the zombie tide accelerated. The zombie tide reacted and began to madly attack the spreading silver-armored zombies everywhere, but their attacks failed to kill them. Instead, once bitten, they became the same kind as them. This scenario was like zombies crazily infecting humans, except this time, the roles were reversed—zombies became the prey, the food, being wildly infected by the silver-armored ones!

It wasn’t long before the original black of the zombie tide was mostly overtaken by silver. The black zombie tide was pushed into a corner, still diminishing, as the spread of silver continued to grow.

Meanwhile, Tang Ye was surrounded by silver-armored zombies. Those zombies that had not turned into silver-armored ones couldn’t even reach where he was.

"Have you found it?" Just then, Tang Ye suddenly shouted towards the pit he had created upon impact with the ground. Inside, there was no response for a while until a figure finally climbed out—it was Xu Haishui. He didn’t speak, simply shaking his head at Tang Ye.

"What’s going on? Don’t tell me these zombies attacked me of their own volition."

"That’s unlikely, but there’s no sign of control from any high-level zombie here, and there’s no Level 6 either."

Tang Ye frowned. The situation was incredibly strange. Without the control of other high-level zombies with intelligence, why would the zombies attack him? This was the first time Tang Ye had encountered such an event, and it made him feel extremely uncomfortable, as if something in his position within the zombie society had been stripped away.

However, fortunately, he still held absolute control over the silver-armored zombies. All he needed to do was to ensure the assimilation and infection of all these disobedient zombies.

Tang Ye glanced around. Apart from the incomplete corpses of zombies he had just killed, the street was littered with heaps of highly decomposed, headless bodies. Now, in Tang Ye’s field of vision, silver had mostly taken over, and only a little black zombie tide remained. So, he had no idea how many zombie corpses lay beneath the feet of the silver-armored zombies.
