I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 961 - 957: Defying the Heavens
Chapter 961: Chapter 957: Defying the Heavens
As for the others, they could only be driven out by those stronger than themselves to fend for themselves, relying on the warmth emitted by the steam from the aid vehicles’ white porridge.
There was nothing that could be done about it; the apocalypse was just like that.
Aside from the time taken to distribute tickets, the white porridge hauled by the four aid vehicles was completely divided among the throngs of survivors in just over forty minutes. The street where the aid vehicles were parked soon became overcrowded with survivors, each holding a bowl of white porridge. Here, no one would store this food, not a single one!
If you weren’t strong enough, storing your white porridge would make others see you as stupid. You weren’t storing for yourself; you were effectively handing over the food you got to someone else! Here, finishing your share of food and then going after someone else’s was common, with no one willing to store their own food.
Regarding the heat of the white porridge, the Peace Party was very considerate, heating the porridge to over a hundred degrees Celsius so that it emitted heat longer. The moment the survivors received their white porridge, they would gulp it down as if unable to feel its warmth, a blissful sensation in an apocalypse when one’s throat is scalded by the hot temperature.
In the sky, two meteors streaked past, most people didn’t care about such things, but there were a few optimistic souls who watched the dazzling meteor shoot straight across the sky above their heads.
"Sigh, buddy, a meteor’s coming, make a wish."
"Make a wish? Useless. If it worked, I’d stand on my head to eat shit."
"Heh, you’ve already eaten that before, you’re not too far from that goal."
"Fuck off!"
"Ah, if wishing on a meteor really worked, I wouldn’t ask for much, just for the winter to end soon. It’s freezing to death here."
As the conversation between the two survivors came to an end, the snow that kept falling from the sky seemed to weaken a bit as if in response.
The meteors in the sky moved fast, gone from sight before anyone could get a clear look, like a ship carrying people’s most urgent wishes, sailing on the ocean made by the sky, heading for the other side, to report the desires of the people to the deities above the nine heavens.
But all these were mere human fantasies; no one knew how the meteor appeared. Its speed was too great; it "whooshed" past and was already far away from their sight, some even thought the meteor had suddenly appeared from the United District.
And this meteor, contrary to what people hoped, didn’t carry their wishes far away. After a brief flight, the meteor stayed above Longyang City, and its light extinguished as it came to a halt.
Following a resounding "boom", the meteor fell straight from the sky. The incredible force of its descent sent the zombies on the ground flying in all directions. For a moment, the horde surged, and the roar of zombies filled the skies over Longyang City. A large number of zombies, like a tide, rushed toward the center of the meteor’s impact.
The dust formed a smog that enveloped the scene. The place where the meteor had landed caved in to create a deep pit five or six meters down. In the midst of the smoke, the zombies couldn’t see clearly what was inside. A few high-level zombies with some intelligence roared angrily at the heart of the pit; however, soon all the zombies became quiet, as if they were shocked by something.
But before long, all the zombies showed their bloodthirsty ferocity again and continued to roar hoarsely and unpleasantly toward the pit.
"Fuck off!"
The next second, a voice full of violence erupted from beneath the pit, and a man strode out from within. Upon emerging, he immediately ripped off the head and spine of one particularly loud offender. The rotten blood dripped thickly onto the ground, violent, bloody!
Seemingly because of the death of a high-level zombie, the roars around it became weaker. But they quickly grew loud again.
The man coming out of the pit seemed to get angry as well. His hands turned into fists, and the flesh on his arms started to wriggle. Numerous scarlet blood vessels spread out, and the man’s arms instantly transformed into two crimson blades. Without a word, the blades swung, casting a bloody gleam like a wave of silk!
The cold gleam passed with a chilling wind and a heart-palpitating aura spread out. However, it didn’t deter the encircling zombies at all. If anything, their ferocity seemed to grow stronger as they roared at the man, who, in turn, swung his blood-colored blades mercilessly. In just an instant, the zombies around the man were split in half, their thick, rotting blood painting the ground, emitting a nauseating stench.
The man’s sudden, bloody slaughter spooked the surrounding zombies, which started to retreat continuously. Nearly a million zombies were actually frightened by a single person. But soon, the man’s butchering angered the horde. They seemed to realize something, and the roar of the zombies grew louder, their bloodlust focusing on the man. Then they stopped retreating—hundreds of thousands of zombies in a tidal wave surged toward the man from all directions!
Black, dark red, and black yellow, those pairs of hands with a tainted air clawed frantically at the man, only to meet the fate of being sliced in half by the sharp crimson blades, one group after another. The man’s blood-colored blades were so sharp they could slice through steel as if it were mud—even the fearsome Level 5 zombies were no match for him. Within a moment of encounter, their heads were soaring through the air.
Watching all the zombies launch an attack on him, a barely restrained rage was evident on the man’s face. With an angry roar, the blades transformed from his arms suddenly extended tentacle-like in all directions. In just a few seconds, a great number of zombies were torn to pieces by the tendrils, their rotten and stinking pus splattering wildly, drenching the ground.
The fury on the man’s face remained, as if he couldn’t believe his own loyal subjects had betrayed him. Any king would burn with rage at the rebellion of such scoundrels.
Although so many of their companions had died in an instant, the zombies showed no fear. They continued to howl and charge at the man. The flesh and limbs they tore off themselves seemed as if they weren’t their own, impervious to pain. Even if only a single hand remained, which could be used for attacking or crawling, they would still try to climb toward the man inch by inch.
"This is rebellion!"
It’s hard to say how long the battle had lasted, but finally, the man roared in rage, the fury in his voice unimaginable.
