I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 60 - 57: Zombie Cat_1
Chapter 60: Chapter 57: Zombie Cat_1
Tang Ye indeed wanted to keep Ning Yu’er by his side, but he couldn’t be so selfish. She still had a father waiting for her, which he could tell from the anxious tone in Ning Tianlang’s voice the day before.
As for solitude, Tang Ye had never felt lonely. He had always been alone, eating alone, watching movies alone, doing things others couldn’t comprehend. He’d act like a clown in front of his colleagues during the day, and at night he was a brooding creature all by himself. He didn’t feel lonely, or perhaps he was just used to it.
"No! I won’t go. I’ll stay with you, Little Mister... please!"
Tang Ye didn’t respond but mercilessly wrote on a piece of paper: Pack your things.
Since Ning Yu’er entered his life, Tang Ye knew that there would inevitably be a day when they would part ways, possibly for the rest of their lives. That’s why he initially never told her his full name.
If they were never to meet again, what use would remembering his name serve her?
"Can I stay with you for two more days, and then leave afterwards?"
Tang Ye shook his head in disagreement. Ning Yu’er, mixed with feelings of joy and sorrow, left the dormitory with her emotions in a whirl.
Sorrow for having to leave Tang Ye behind, but also joy knowing she can now see her father. She gave Tang Ye a sorrowful last look, then began to pack up her things in a fit of anger.
About fifteen minutes later, Ning Yu’er, carrying a pinkish flat backpack, stood in front of Tang Ye.
"Little Mister, do I really have to go?"
Tang Ye didn’t reply. He simply took her hand and led her towards the dormitory’s main door. He knew what Ning Yu’er felt deep down, but...
Sorry, I am a zombie, we ultimately do not belong in the same world...
Ning Yu’er followed Tang Ye out of the dormitory. At the corner, she looked back at the building she had lived for over a month, her eyes welling up with tears as she did.
She looked up at the towering figure of Tang Ye, her pink cheeks puffing up, shedding a steady stream of tears down her face.
Once they exited Honglin High School, Ning Yu’er, for the first time, saw the outside world in the midst of an apocalypse. But the excitement quickly turned sour within the next second. "Ugh!" She threw up, the food from yesterday all coming out.
She saw a mountain of zombie bodies outside the school gate, dumped there by Tang Ye after each cleanup. Over time, it formed a horrific pile that reeked with a vile stench, especially due to Lin City’s hot weather these past months.
With her nose covered, Ning Yu’er walked through the rotting landscape. Countless zombies roaming about howled and rushed towards her at the sight of human life, only to be frozen in place after a few steps, making way for Tang Ye.
All along the journey, Tang Ye had been restraining the zombies with his psychic tendrils. However, with time passing, it was becoming troublesome. Having evolved to Level 2, he could at maximum control about six hundred zombies. But wouldn’t the number of zombies strolling around the streets surpass a thousand?
With the zombies under his control, Tang Ye coordinated them to form a barrier around him and Ning Yu’er, blocking incoming zombie attacks. Even so, now and then a stray one would break through the defense and charge at Ning Yu’er.
"Scram!"
Tang Ye bellowed, his bone claw reaching out to grasp the head of a zombie who had just charged at Ning Yu’er, crushing it on the spot.
He furrowed his brows, looked up at the viaduct overhead and calculated how long his arm, transformed into a bone whip, could extend.
"It should be long enough," Tang Ye thought to himself. In one swift motion, he scooped up Ning Yu’er, who was huddled close to him. His bone arm instantly divided into ten thumb-sized bone tendrils, which coiled around the steel pipes under the bridge. With all ten tendrils securely wrapped around the pipes, he controlled the bone whip to shrink dramatically, propelling him and Ning Yu’er into the air, swinging towards the distance.
"Little Mister, you... slow down. I am scared... It’s too high!" Ning Yu’er stuttered as she looked down at the ground from mid-air.
After a glance at her, Tang Ye realized he was flying a bit too high. But there was no alternative. When could they possibly get across if he continued walking?
The journey from Honglin High School to South City Hongyi Street was at least twenty kilometers. How many zombies would they encounter along the way?
All of a sudden, Tang Ye retracted all his bone spikes, then fired again at a nearby building, swinging up like Spiderman.
Honestly, Tang Ye was also very scared. It was his first time flying this high. One slip up and they would plummet. If they fell, he might be fine, but he was also carrying Ning Yu’er who would definitely not survive such a fall!
With this thought, Tang Ye tightened his grip around Ning Yu’er. Meanwhile, his other arm, still transformed into a bone whip, repeated the swinging manoeuvre. Within a few swings, they reached the rooftop of a tall building.
Upon finally reaching the rooftop, both Tang Ye and Ning Yu’er breathed a sigh of relief. Tang Ye took a look at the sea of zombies below before readying himself and Ning Yu’er to leave.
However, just as Tang Ye turned his head, he froze, as did Ning Yu’er. There, right in front of the pair, was a cat the size of a motorcycle staring at them.
Meow!
It shrieked, its tail had evolved into a bone spike, and its four sharp claws exuded a threatening sheen. Its fur had mostly fallen off, revealing decaying and bloody flesh.
Without a doubt, this was a zombie cat!
The cat arched its back as it let out a terrifying yowl. It completely ignored Tang Ye, its bloodlust filled eyes trained on Ning Yu’er, then suddenly charged at her.
Roar!
Tang Ye suddenly roared, freezing the cat on the spot. The zombie cat was a Level 1 zombie, but unfortunately for it, Tang Ye was of a higher rank, a Level 2 zombie. In an instant, he established a psychic link with the cat.
The cat remained on the spot, obediently gazing at Tang Ye as he approached, with Ning Yu’er also stumbling behind him.
Tang Ye reached out to stroke its head, then in the next second, his eyes turned cold. His other hand shot out like a venomous snake, grabbing the cat’s chin. With a thrust from his two hands, he forcefully split its skull open and extracted the jelly-like Evolution Crystal from its shrunken brain stem.
With the Evolution Crystal now in his possession, Tang Ye callously grabbed the cat’s tail and threw its body off the rooftop. Its body fell to the ground, splattered into a bloody pulp!
Roar roar~
Tang Ye pocketed the Evolution Crystal and growled towards Ning Yu’er, signaling her that it was time for them to leave.
Ning Yu’er obediently moved to his side, casting a terrified look around. She had just emerged from their dorm and was still adapting to the brutal world outside.
Looking at the dense horde of zombies below, swelling like a tide, it was a scene she thought only happened in movies. But it was really happening!
