Chapter 372: Chapter 369: Naturally Disgusting_1

The layer of soil entangled by tree roots resembled a miniature island, covered with countless "saplings" and various plants that were over ten meters tall.

This horrifying scene was not the worst of it all. The "island" had been pulled up by the roots of a gigantic tree. These roots, crisscrossing and growing relentlessly downwards over time, had forcefully lifted the entire tree, revealing all the roots in the process.

The island that had been ripped out was where the giant tree had originally taken root. Now, it was a floating island, underneath which countless roots dangled, densely packed, piercing into the soil beneath. The sight was absolutely astonishing!

Amidst the boundless green forest nearby, wasn’t it just a splendid scene?

The pseudo-dragon ignored the reactions of the two zombies, and kept charging stubbornly towards the towering tree, just like before!

As it moved, Tang Ye and Xu Haishui’s vision rapidly approached the enormous tree, the hazy feeling was gone, and the texture of the tree bark could be clearly seen.

And the pseudo-dragon finally arrived at the base of the giant tree...

Boom!

With a loud sound, the pseudo-dragon violently rammed its body against a root larger than itself. With this collision, the pseudo-dragon let out a muffled howl, and a puff of crimson mist burst from its head. Tang Ye faintly heard a "crack" sound!

This was the sound of a skull fracture. Looking at the blood gurgling out of the pseudo-dragon’s injured head, Tang Ye paused momentarily. The injury was indeed severe, involving the brain tissue. If it had been a normal living creature, it would have been undoubtedly dead!

But the pseudo-dragon kept on pushing forward. The moment it crashed, its long body arched up, causing soil to scatter around, accompanied by the heavy stench of blood in the air.

Seemingly unaffected by its own aberrance, the pseudo-dragon roared incessantly. When it couldn’t break through the tree root in front of it, it swiftly turned its body and dug a hole through the ground and crawled out from the other side.

Observing all this, Tang Ye knew in his heart that the pseudo-dragon at this moment wasn’t the real pseudo-dragon anymore. It was undergoing a transformation into a zombie. This must all be the work of Xu Haishui.

Only the corpse worm, secreted from Xu Haishui’s body, could turn a living being into a zombie, evolution or not. However, once the pseudo-dragon had turned into a zombie, would it retain its original strength?

But thinking about it logically, it should hold on to its strength. When an ordinary person becomes a zombie, their physical strength increases by at least one or half times than before. It was unreasonable for an evolved being to become an ordinary zombie upon transformation.

Once the pseudo-dragon entirely plunged its body into the roots of the giant tree, Tang Ye’s vision turned pitch black.

With undiminished pace, the pseudo-dragon twisted and wriggled its body. Its hard scales intermittently scraped against the robust roots, sparking eye-catching sparks.

Under the illumination of the sparks, Tang Ye saw grotesque maggots squirming in the dark. Their mouths wide open, revealing needle-like sharp teeth coated with a gloomy green slime which was disgustingly dripping down.

Although Tang Ye was not an obsessive-compulsive zombie, he felt disgusted at the sight.

"What the f*ck is all this!"

The terrain beneath the tree roots was bumpy. As the pseudo-dragon continued its uneven advance, Ah Fu, who was tied up behind Tang Ye’s tentacles, started drifting sideways. With quick reflexes, Tang Ye grabbed him.

Suddenly, the pseudo-dragon swerved violently to the right. At the critical moment, Tang Ye jabbed his hand into its flesh, remaining firmly in place while Xu Haishui appeared to be in a slightly difficult situation. His evolutionary path was unlike that of many other zombies - it was directed towards the brain. So, the essence of his body didn’t gather into an Evolution Crystal but was distributed throughout his brain.

Even though controlling zombies was his greatest strength, the physical strength and speed he possessed were hardly a match for a Level 2 zombie. Aside from retractable claw blades in his hands, he had no other means to break the pseudo-dragon’s defenses.

The pseudo-dragon gave a sudden shake. Had Xu not caught a piece of skin flipping up on the dragon’s body, he would’ve been thrown far away.

Xu Haishui was flung into the air, spinning several rounds, while the pseudo-dragon took another turn. The screechy noise caused by friction between its abdominal muscles and the ground was ear-piercing. It was like welding with an electrode, producing sparks at every turn.

Under the pull of inertia, the piece of skin Xu grabbed was torn off, and he abruptly flew backward.

His face turned ashen, anxiety crept in, and in his panic, he exclaimed, "Boss, help me!"

Tang Ye had just pulled Ah Fu back when he heard Xu Haishui’s call. Narrowing his eyes, he saw Xu Haishui was being flung away like a large black rat.

Without a second thought, Tang Ye dug his feet in, his foot-flesh transformed into numerous tentacles, deeply lodged into the flesh beneath. Tilting his body, a line of blood slits opened on the left side of his body.

Shush!

Instantaneously, that part of his body transformed into numerous tentacles, wrapping tightly around Xu Haishui and pulling him back.

Barely standing steady, Xu Haishui looked startled. That last toss could’ve caused him to miss the pseudo-dragon if Tang Ye had reacted just a bit slower.

Turning the pseudo-dragon into a zombie was only the initial step. The most crucial part was controlling it. If he lost track of the pseudo-dragon, all the efforts made by Xu Haishui would have been wasted!

The pseudo-dragon’s eyes became redder, displaying countless bloodthirsty expressions. Eventually, all signs of life faded, as if it were a machine operating according to a preset program.

As the corpse worm ravaged its neural tissues, it became increasingly chaotic in its thoughts. Ideas that it previously had seemed to have been blocked off by numerous invisible walls. Amidst the chaotic thoughts, the desire to "eat" became stronger and stronger, gradually dominating the pseudo-dragon’s mind.

The scent of blood and flesh on the pseudo-dragon hadn’t completely dissipated, and Tang Ye found it irresistibly delicious, reminiscent of the mouthwatering aroma of meat stir-frying in someone else’s kitchen during his childhood.

Not only Tang Ye and the other two zombies could smell it, but this aroma was also picked up by the evolved and non-evolved creatures living nearby, attracting them to come closer.

Especially some meter-long, bucket-thick maggots, which had attached themselves to the pseudo-dragon unnoticed in the dark.

A few of them even came to Tang Ye’s feet, and were crushed by him, causing their fluid to scatter in every direction. The fluid was a disgusting mix of yellowish green. Tang Ye was unfazed by it, but Xu Haishui was barely able to tolerate it.

This was not something ordinary disgusting material could compare to. If it had been some severely rotten corpses or other disgusting bodily fluids, Tang Ye could have perhaps seemingly accepted it.

But the internal fluid of these bugs looked like it was inherently designed to disgust humans.
