Chapter 371: Chapter 368: The Sky-Reaching Giant Tree_1
Roar!
There was a sound of "bang bang bang" within the building, accompanied by the screams of a few Night Demons. Soon after, a man and his wife safely walked out from the building, their eyes reflecting the relief of surviving the disaster. They turned into an alley and disappeared from sight.
"Old Li is really something! As a former special forces member, he managed to escape unharmed."
"Seems like we ought to learn a few moves from him in the future."
"Hmph, let’s see if he’s willing to teach you first."
"Why wouldn’t he teach me?"
"..."
The survivors in the building were all chattering away without making an effort to keep their voices down. If this were Lin City, a loud voice could attract a horde of zombies.
Roar...!!
Soon, a roar erupted, and the concrete wall of the building collapsed instantly. A mutant beast howled as it was thrown out, followed by a Night Demon — about three meters tall, its muscles tangled and intertwined — running out, heedless of whether it was day or night.
"F*ck, a Brutal Bone Rib!"
"Damn it, how did Old Li manage to lure this guy out!"
"Old Li probably didn’t know himself."
"Unbelievable, to think there was a Brutal Bone Rib inside!"
The survivors felt a shudder of fear. If it weren’t for what had just happened, they would have been unaware of such a brutal creature lurking nearby.
The Brutal Bone Rib’s fists were enormous. Its fingers had completely abandoned the human shape, sharp and pointed like a bear’s claws, dark and dreadful. It had four ribs piercing out from its chest area, thick and long. Behind it were another three ribs piercing out, longer than the rest, extending past its right shoulder.
Just as it exited the building, it seemed a little uncomfortable under the sunlight. However, after a few low grunts, it launched an attack on the mutant beast that had just risen.
In the street, they clashed back and forth. However, a massive shadow swept across at an incredible speed, crushing both creatures under its weight. When the shadow had passed, all that was left were two piles of mush.
All the survivors watching this were stunned, their mouths open but unable to speak.
"What... what was that just now?"
"I... did not see."
"Those were Level 3 creatures, how is this possible?"
"Damn it!"
For the stupefied survivors, the dark apparition — or the three zombies on its back — paid them no attention and continued forward at breakneck speed. They simply awaited the moment when the Pseudo-dragon would stop, curious to see the final outcome.
Upon leaving the small town, Tang Ye found himself amidst a dense forest inhabited by more and more mutant beasts. Even a Level 4 gorilla descended from a tree, trying to feast on the Pseudo-dragon’s delicious flesh.
However, just as the gorilla landed on the Pseudo-dragon’s back, Tang Ye snatched it, snapped its neck, and threw it far away.
"Hmph, even a piece of trash dares to approach!"
A Level 5 fighting a Level 4 is as easy as an adult fighting a newborn baby. Killing it was as easy as lifting a finger and didn’t require much effort.
Boom!
Suddenly, the Pseudo-dragon’s body lunged upward, starting to climb a mountain.
Tang Ye firmly grasped one of the Pseudo-dragon’s scales while the tentacle he controlled tightened its grip on Ah Fu. Then, he stretched out a bone blade from his arm, cut off his own tentacle, aiming to conserve his energy.
Ah Fu’s body temperature was gradually diminishing. As he went through this transformation process, both Tang Ye and Xu Haishui weren’t paying attention. One was anticipating the Pseudo-dragon’s transformation into a zombie that he could control, while the other hoped for some complication that would kill the Pseudo-dragon outright, freeing Tang Ye to deal with Xu Haishui without any restrain.
The Pseudo-dragon continued to ascend. After a while, it reached the peak of the mountain, then abruptly started descending, making the journey as exciting as a roller coaster ride.
The journey lasted two full hours. During this time, Tang Ye lost count of how many mountains and hills the Pseudo-dragon had climbed and how many rivers it had crossed. With the blood from its body almost drained, its trail was no longer marked by blood.
With this speed of advance, Tang Ye noticed that the trees were growing larger. Previously, trees were only about ten meters high at best, but now, the tallest ones were almost forty meters high!
Simultaneously, Tang Ye was also convinced that the apocalypse had significantly changed Earth. In just a short time, the Pseudo-dragon must have traveled at least a hundred miles, crossing Lin City’s boundaries. Tang Ye surmised from the names on several bridge tunnels that they had reached Wuxing City. If they kept moving forward, they would pass Wuxing City and head straight for Jiangcheng City!
The Pseudo-dragon brought Tang Ye and the others this far!
Yet, they still hadn’t reached the end of the immense forest. Looking from a high vantage point, one could only see an endless expanse of green. This green was pure and couldn’t be tainted by so-called love.
Two hours later, Tang Ye and the others reached the jurisdiction of Jiangcheng City. There, they encountered a sight that left them speechless!
The Pseudo-dragon brought them to a vast plain. Or rather, a plain composed of countless trees!
And in the distance, through a vague haze, Tang Ye saw an unprecedentedly massive tree!
The tree was towering, its thick trunk reaching straight into the blue sky. It was so tall that its top was obscured by clouds. The wide canopy with its dense leaves blocked a large portion of the sunlight, casting a massive shadow below. The sight was overwhelmingly awe-inspiring!
Tang Ye was stunned. Even Xu Haishui was dumbfounded. As if affected by their reactions, Ah Fu, who had fainted during his evolution process, twitched a couple of times.
"That tree... must be three hundred meters tall, right?"
"Not just... not... Aiya, damn it!" Xu Haishui was flabbergasted. Could such a place exist on Earth?
Even though his memories were jumbled, it did not mean he had lost his pre-apocalyptic worldview. A tree that towered into the sky like this would undoubtedly attract crowds of tourists in densely populated China!
Upon seeing the enormous tree, a term flashed across Tang Ye’s mind.
World Tree!
Yes! It’s the World Tree! Only the legendary World Tree could be this huge!
Regarding his own thoughts, Tang Ye was at a loss about how to express them. The absurdity was overwhelming. More and more, he felt like this place couldn’t be Earth.
He knew that the tree, standing over three to four hundred meters tall, was a result of evolution, just like the mutant beasts and new humans. However, its evolution was indeed extreme!
The place where the colossal tree rooted bulged outwards. Its thick branches were like countless Pseudo-dragons, lifting layers of soil, eventually pulling out a large clump of earth.
