Chapter 27 Cleanup_1
Chapter 27: Chapter 27 Cleanup_1
"Is... is this for me?" Ning Yu’er touched the food that Tang Ye had thrown to her. The feel of it told her it was chocolate. She wanted to eat it right away, but felt a bit shy looking at Tang Ye.
"Thank... thank you..."
Tang Ye didn’t respond, but headed towards the exit. Ning Yu’er quietly said thanks, then she felt her cheeks flush. She rarely sought help from others, and she felt embarrassed by the food Tang Ye had offered. She felt awkward that he didn’t respond to her thanks, and wished she could crawl into a crack in the ground.
To shake off the awkwardness, she said to Tang Ye, "Zombie... Little Mister, you... can’t you...ah...can you speak?"
Tang Ye turned around and frowned at her, the woman’s voice was pitiful, but his impression was as if she was swearing at him calling him mute. He looked at her, turned back around and ignored her, but he thought to himself, "If I open my mouth, I’ll give you a dragon roar!"
"Ah, what...Small Mister, where are you going?" Seeing Tang Ye ready to leave, Ning Yu’er got anxious. She dreaded being alone in the darkness.
"Can you take me with you?"
In Tang Ye’s mind: "Is she sick?"
Tang Ye ignored her, he left the dorm and walked along the corridor towards the main door. Ning Yu’er also went out.
"Don’t go!"
Tang Ye, getting annoyed, turned around and approached Ning Yu’er. Seeing him approach her, her heart leapt with joy. He reached into his vest pocket and stuffed the remaining four packets of fish snacks into her hands. Ning Yu’er stared blankly, not understanding his intention.
Tang Ye turned back and continued walking. Ning Yu’er felt awkward to speak up, she hesitated looking at his silhouette basked in the faint moonlight. She didn’t want to spend the night alone in the dark dormitory. She wanted to follow him.
She started to follow Tang Ye, and as he reached the staircase, his right hand suddenly elongated, reaching for a wandering zombie.
Ning Yu’er saw his elongated nails and sudden movement, her fragile soul shook. She then saw a zombie tumble down the staircase. Tang Ye picked up its body and threw it out the door, glancing at Ning Yu’er from the corner of his eye.
He thought to himself: "Go ahead and follow if you want to, but if you cause any trouble, I’ll... Ah forget it."
Tang Ye was not trying to leave, he wanted to clear out all the zombies in the dorm and practice his claw skill. Although it wasn’t as handy as a crowbar, he was a zombie equipped with his own weaponry.
Tang Ye didn’t want to save anyone, but circumstances led him to her. Having saved her life already, he thought he might as well help her further. Besides, she did call him "Mister".
Heh heh, that address was quite courteous.
As Tang Ye went upstairs, Ning Yu’er followed, clutching her waist with her left hand and the snacks Tang Ye had given her in her right hand. Her face full of anxiety, she started to stick closer to Tang Ye, increasing her pace.
One zombie, one human, climbed up to the second floor. There were five or six zombies in the corridor when Ning Yu’er suddenly let out a shriek at the sight of a familiar face turned zombie.
"That... that’s Gao Ying!"
Roar!
Her scream attracted all the zombies. There was a zombie growl from upstairs and Ning Yu’er turned pale. The zombie pointed at as Gao Ying, bare her teeth and rushed at her.
Tang Ye finally understood what it meant when people said, "Women are trouble". He extended the claws of his two hands and pierced them through Gao Ying’s skull.
Thunk!
Gao Ying’s body fell to the ground. Ning Yu’er stared at her corpse in a stupor. She had thought that there were no zombies on the second floor, but how could she see everything in the dark? The night was like a thick fog in which numerous ghosts revealed their hideous bodies."
"I’m sorry, Little Mister, I was wrong. I don’t want to go inside!"
Tang Ye grabbed Ning Yu’er’s petite body regardless of her screams and threw her into a nearby dorm room with no zombies. Then he looked at the zombies coming towards him with a bloodthirsty glint in his eyes.
Roar...
He threw out a punch at a zombie that came close, knocking it against the wall. He turned around, used his other claw to smash the brains of another zombie that had just come downstairs. Then he spun back to kill the zombie he had knocked against the wall.
Bang! Bang! Bang...
The sound of his fighting outside continued to echo. Ning Yu’er was crouched by the door, worried for Tang Ye. But the zombies outside didn’t pose a threat to Tang Ye. For him, it was a slaughter.
Once Tang Ye dealt with the last incoming zombie, the sounds from outside ceased, and Ning Yu’er opened the door and ran out.
"Little Mister, you, you’re okay, right?"
Seeing her come out, Tang Ye furrowed his brows. But the next thing she said melted his heart and soul. It was the first time in over ten years that he had heard someone express concern for him.
Of course, in his childhood, for the sake of Chu Yunxuan, he had also gotten into fights with thugs and shed blood. She had cared about him too.
In the dark, Ning Yu’er couldn’t see the expression on Tang Ye’s face, and he didn’t speak. He picked up a zombie corpse and was about to throw it out the window.
Seeing the pile of corpses on the floor, Ning Yu’er retched and tears welled up in her eyes.
"Little Mister, what are you... Ah, why don’t we bury them? They were once human."
Ning Yu’er quietly asked Tang Ye, who was moving a body, but he didn’t respond. He just threw the body out of the window.
Smack!
Tang Ye came back in and dragged the next corpse out. Ning Yu’er saw he didn’t respond to her and stayed silent, quietly watching him.
When Tang Ye finished cleaning up all the bodies and went upstairs, Ning Yu’er followed him quietly.
Third floor, Fourth floor, Fifth floor...
Tang Ye cleaned out all the zombies on each floor, and also checked all the rooms one more time to make sure no zombies were left. He then went downstairs to lock the main entrance. Ning Yu’er followed him closely all throughout.
After finishing everything, Tang Ye looked at Ning Yu’er, who was also nervously looking at him. His gaze slowly moved to her right hand, which was still holding the food.
Heh heh... Roar...
Ning Yu’er trembled when she heard him make a noise, but couldn’t understand what Tang Ye meant.
Well, she couldn’t understand what Tang Ye was growling. His actual question was: Are you not going to eat?
Seeing her stand blankly, and realizing she couldn’t understand him, he decided to stop trying to communicate. He looked up at the night sky. Since the post-apocalyptic outbreak, many human machinery and factories had stopped operating, ceasing the pollution of the environment. The night sky over the city now revealed a galaxy full of stars.
